Chapter 26
Battlebringer struggled against the chains. Battlebringer was trying to get himself out of the neck chain that chained him into the floor.
Sunset was hovering in the sky, looking at Iceberg. Iceberg was trying to process what just happened then looked at Sunset, shocked.
"Iceberg, Wait!" Sunset flew over to Iceberg and touched the chain around her neck and the clips on her wings. The chains on Iceberg soon fell to ash. Iceberg smiled at Sunset. "Thank you. Can you do my friends too?"
Sunset hesitated. Battlebringer looked at her, expectantly.
"All right," she finally said. She touched the chains around Foeseer, and they broke apart, collapsing with great clanking sounds to the balcony floor. She then went towards Battlebringer and touched the chain around his neck and the clips on his wings, as they fell into ash.
"Thank you," Battlebringer said. "Now we better get out of here and find Stargazer and Paradise." Sunset looked at Iceberg. "The RainWing was teleported to a new prison place, but it's not in the dungeons. She was moved into a huge bird cage last night."
"We better get her then," the red NightWing looked at Iceberg and Foeseer.
Sunset nodded. "I'll lead the way."
The air was full of beating wings, red and orange, whacking into each other and knocking one another off course. Sunset shot ahead of Iceberg, clearing a path as dragons panicked out of her way.
Iceberg saw her tail accidentally brush a SkyWing's leg. The other dragon howled, clutching the burn, and tumbled into the side of the mountain with smoke rising from their scales.
Iceberg went over to them and touched their burned scaled, trying to cool it. "Don't yell." She murmured. "Just let me cool it down."
The SkyWing looked at Iceberg with a painful but confused expression. A normal SkyWing would have yelled that they were trying to escape... unlike this SkyWing, he kept quiet.
Battlebringer nudged Iceberg and flew quickly, following Sunset. Iceberg waved goodbye to the SkyWing and flew after the others.
Foeseer and Battlebringer were close behind Iceberg as they soared up the feasting hall, over the cliffs.
As they landed into the entrance, they spotted Paradise in a huge golden bird cage just her size.
Paradise's eyes narrowed and she gave a soft growl at the others. "What are you doing here?" She spat, her eyes cold and emotionless.
Foeseer rolled her eyes. "Calm down Para, we're freeing you."
Paradise's growl grew louder. "I don't need your help." She hissed, her tail lashing angrily.
Her eyes narrowed and she growled, her voice dangerously low and threatening. "Where's Stargazer?" Iceberg went on her back legs to the cage. "Stargazer was taken away by the NightWings." She answered her.
Paradise's eyes widened and she snarled. "You let Stargazer get taken away by NightWings?!" Her wings flared, her eyes glowing with rage.
Iceberg snarled back. "Would you have been able to do anything? We were chained up and couldn't go after them!"
Sunset hovered in front of the cage and sliced through the bars with her claws. The metal sizzled and steamed for a moment, then dropped to the ground below. Paradise growled, stepping out of the cage.
"Iceberg, Wait!" Sunset's wings shivered, and she clenched her talons. "My mother. If Queen Comet isn't dead, the first thing she'll do is kill her."
"Right!" Iceberg nodded.
Foeseer turned to Battlebringer. "Battlebringer, take Paradise somewhere safe. I know! Head to the diamond spray river!"
Paradise let out a thunderous growl. "Battlebringer won't take me anywhere! I'm staying with you, no Foeseer! Don't even try to argue, I'm staying and that's final!"
Battlebringer nodded. "The sooner we rescue Sunset's mom, the sooner we can get out of here."
Foeseer sighed. "Paradise, try getting Snowflake out while we're getting Sunset's mom. Battlebringer, go with Paradise to rescue Snowflake. Me, Sunset, and Iceberg will go rescue Sunset's mom. We'll need a place to meet."
"I know a place." Sunset spoke. She pointed to the diamond spray river. "Over there."
Battlebringer nodded. "Got it. We'll meet you there. You know I love you but be careful," Battlebringer grinned and winked at Foeseer before leaping into the sky with Paradise towards the prisons.
"This way's the fastest." Sunset said. She beat her wings out of the cage area. Foeseer made a face at Iceberg and followed her. Iceberg followed, glancing at Foeseer questioningly. Iceberg could still hear the shouts and roars coming from the arena. Dragons filled the air, none of them seemed to be searching for the Dragonets yet.
As they flew up, Iceberg passed a narrow shelf of rock with a shrubby bush clinging to it. A scavenger was hanging from the cliff face a few lengths above the shelf. It was still struggling up the rocks, gasping for breath and shaking with exhaustion.
Iceberg sighed, dipping towards the scavenger and grabbing it in her claws, then gliding down a near river. The scavenger began to give a shriek. She covered the scavenger's mouth with a claw. "Shush, we can't draw any attention."
She landed on a sandy floor and put the scavenger down. "Now don't go climbing on rocks again." Iceberg scolded the scavenger. She then flew off.
Foeseer and Sunset waited for her to catch up. Iceberg finally caught up with them.
Sunset and Foeseer smiled and they soon flew over to a huge circle. Foeseer and Sunset dove in, and inside the circle was a cage with a female adult dragon with clips on her wings.
This was Sunset's mother.
Prince Storm only had to collect his soldiers... and then he'd come searching for the Dragonets.
