Chapter 11
Part 2: In The Sky Kingdom
The queen's prisons were kept in the sky. Iceberg's prison cell was at the top of a spiring rock. A narrow stone platform gave her just enough room to walk in a circle and lie down. There were no walls. There was no roof. There was only open blue sky and the fierce wind.
Her rock-tower prison was one about of a hundred spires, spread out in a huge circle. Nearly every one had a dragon trapped at the top, like her. Like her, they each had thin metal clamps on the outer edge of their wings. In the center of the circle was a bowl of rock, with sand at the bottom with sheer walls. Above the rows were benches and balconies.
Iceberg could see Paradise and Foeseer's podiums were a few podiums away from her, but they seemed to be the only ones with two chains around their neck.
Because they're both Animuses. Iceberg thought.
Iceberg looked on her left side and could see Battlebringer growling loudly, snapping at his chains and trying to use his brush strength to get out.
Suddenly, a beautiful SkyWing dropped some meat at Iceberg's pillar. She had red-orange marks on her snout, her neck and her ear while the rest was orange. She had dark red horns and bright red scales. She also had golden wings like a sunset. The strange thing, though, she had blue eyes which a SkyWing shouldn't have. She also had smoke flickering through her.
"Here you go! Sorry if it's not what you eat, I don't get to feed IceWings." The SkyWing said.
Iceberg looked up and tilted her head at the SkyWing. She crouched and sniffed the meat.
The female SkyWing smiled. "Is it good? I hope I got it crispy enough, or do you not want it?"
"No, I'll eat it." She began to eat the meat and smiled at the SkyWing as well.
The female SkyWing smiled. "So, how did you get, well captured?"
"Well.. We were apparently in your Queen's territory. Hey, is everyone else okay?" She glanced around the podiums.
The female SkyWing nodded. "Yeah, sure! The red one is oddly loud for some reason."
"Battlebringer?" She snorted. "Get used to it. He's always like this. I'm glad to be more than six feet away from him now, since he was always flirting with Foeseer."
The female SkyWing tilted her head at Iceberg. "So... What's your name? Is it Crystal-is-best-Queen? Nice to meet you Crystal-is-best-Queen!"
Iceberg looked up at the SkyWing. "It's not that. It's Iceberg." She didn't really know the concept of jokes.
The female SkyWing smiled. "Cool! I'm Sunset! By the way, I'm the Queen's champion!"
"You are?" She tilted her head at the SkyWing. "You seem like a normal SkyWing. I mean, not like that's a bad thing."
Sunset smiled at Iceberg. "So who do you think I could beat? The weird-looking NightWing?" She pointed to a hybrid who was aggressively fighting with the chains, yelling curses.
"I'd rather you'd not fight any of the new dragons. They're my friends." Iceberg looked around the arena.
Sunset looked at Foeseer doubtfully then back at Iceberg. "Sorry, can't. The queen tells me who to fight... Maybe I can convince her to pick someone else? N-not the new dragons, I mean."
A bell soon rang.
"Oh!" Sunset said. "Gotta go warm up! Cheer for me!" She then dived down in the arena, circling the bowl a few times.
Iceberg then soon looked over at Battlebringer's podium. The large red NightWing strained harder against the chains and actually managed to loosen a little.
"Hm." Iceberg got up and looked at Battlebringer, seeing he had a loose chain.
Soon, four SkyWing guards noticed and quickly flew towards Battlebringer's podium and added an extra chain to him, then flew back into the cavern they came from.
"Oh, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?" He yelled, loud enough for the other prisoners to hear. Battlebringer banged his head on his podium.
Iceberg looked down at the arena.
SkyWings soon gathered in their seats. On a balcony, Queen Comet rose into the sunlight, along with two SkyWing guards beside her. "Good morning, loyal subjects!"
The SkyWings hissed back. Iceberg thought they were hissing at the Queen in fury, but they seemed to do it in a welcome.
Queen Comet spread her wings wide. "Bring in the combatants!" Soon, Sunset walked out of a doorway in the arena, and most SkyWings were not cheering for her.
SkyWing guards went towards the pillar prisons and grabbed the wings of a SeaWing. The SeaWing shrieked and said something like. "Already!?" He began to light up all his markings to try and blind the guards.
The SkyWings hissed and grabbed his wings tightly and dragged him a few miles in front of Sunset.
Iceberg knew what was gonna happen next. She was gonna watch a dragon die.
