Percy pov

Everyone one was sleeping soundly when Iggy came over and sat down by me. He sat there looking at me as if straining himself to be able to see me. I could tell he really wanted to know what I looked like. "Would you like me describe myself to you?"

He smiled "would you?"

"Well I have really black hair just like my dad. Um I'm pretty tall. Maybe about 6'2. And as for my eyes well..." I looked down at my feet. I didn't let anybody know but it really did hurt not being able to see with both eyes. "Well one's green. And the other ones uh just kinda white and... distant." I put my head on my knees "who am I kidding. I look like a freak. I have a huge scar down my face what is Annabeth going to say? Not even to mention the wings!" I had been letting my wing just hang down my back instead of tucking them in trying to hide them. But now I tucked them back in.

Iggy put a hand on my shoulder. "I know how you feel. That's why I volunteered to stay up with you. I know you can still see out of one eye but even that is still not as good as with both."

I smiled "yeah now I don't have depth perception!" we laughed.

"Yeah me neither!" we laughed again.

"Iggy how exactly did you become blind?"

He sighed "up until about five years ago like everyone else I had lived at the school my whole life. I was born with wings like the rest of the flock. I think I was about nine when one day like many others a scientist came to get me for some experiment.

I was in a cage with the flock when the door opened and in came an Eraser. He reached into our cage and pulled me out. The last thing I ever saw of the flock was Max and Fang with their faces pressed up to the bars yelling me name.

I was taken into a lab and strapped down to a table. A scientist came in and I still remember exactly what he said to me.

"We are going to give you night vision it would be in your best interest to not move."

I started crying I didn't want him to touch my eyes but they did anyway. I was strapped to the table for three days. The whole time scientists were experimenting on my eyes. Then on the fourth day I woke up to a black room.

"Where am I?" I yelled as I stumbled around in the darkness crying.

Then I heard a voice from behind me "Iggy its Max they just brought you back. Are you alright? What did they do to you?" said max. I turned around but I still couldn't see anything.

"Max where are you!" I cried.

"Iggy I'm right here." I could tell she was right in front of me.

I tried to reach my hand out to her but I was just out of reach. "Max!" I cried again "where are you!"

This time she came up to me and held my face in her hands. She held me so close our noses were touching. "Iggy I'm right here." I was crying so hard my eyes were closed. "Iggy open your eyes. Then you can see me." She laughed. But when I did she gasped "they're white!" she reached out her hand and touched my eye. She then waved her hand in front of my face. "Oh Iggy your eyes!" I then started crying into her shoulder. That was my first day of many without sight."

About half way through the story Iggy had started crying through his sightless eyes. I put my hand on his shoulder. "Iggy I'm really sorry."

He sniffed and smiled "well we can be sorry together. Cause Percy I'm really sorry about your eye too."

I laughed "well at least you now have all these super abilities. Like super hearing and super smell."

He smiled "true that! I do have a great nose!" we sat and laughed together telling funny stories all the way until sunrise.
