DAGNY ODINSDOTTIR was, by all accounts, the loveliest child to have been born in all the ten realms. Half Asgardian and half Angel, there had never been a more enchanting creature than she. Despite her status as a bastard — the illegitimate daughter of King Odin of Asgard and Queen Solveig of Heven — Dagny was no less beloved than Odin's trueborn daughter Hela. In his greed, Odin sought to keep Dagny at his side and raise her himself, hoping to have a second daughter equal to Hela's ferocity as he ruled the conquered realms with an iron fist.

But Queen Solveig did not share Odin's desire to see her daughter become a conqueror and petitioned him to allow Dagny to be raised in Heven alongside the Angels. When Odin refused to bow to Solveig's wishes, the queen waged a war against him alongside Asgard's enemies and attempted to spirit Dagny away from the palace. Much to her dismay, Solveig was caught by the Asgardian king and was forced to endure his wrath. Furious and filled with rage, Odin cut Heven off from the remaining nine realms and bound the Angels to the confines of Heven by stripping them of their wings. To further keep Dagny from the grasp of her mother, Odin petitioned Huggin and Munnin — the gods of thought and mind — to erase the memories of her childhood and implant new memories of a false life; one where Dagny was not born the king of Asgard's beloved bastard, but instead was one of Odin's elite chosen warriors — a Valkyrie by the name of Sylvi.

Following the massacre of the Valkyrior at the hands of Hela, Sylvi went into hiding on an isolated mining colony called Knowhere. It is there that Sylvi meets two people who will ultimately change her life forever. The first is a strange woman called Nox; a mysterious newcomer who claims to know the truth of Sylvi's past. The second is an even stranger woman named Carol Danvers; an earthling with glowing fists and the most interesting group of shape-shifting traveling companions that Sylvi has ever met.

After a rocky first encounter, the two women agree to strike an alliance with one another. In exchange for Sylvi's assistance with protecting her green-skinned comrades, Carol promises to help her piece together the mystery of her origin — because hey, she's got a soft spot where mind-meddling is concerned, alright?

(And it's not because she's caught feelings for her or anything like that. Definitely not.)

a/n: remade this fic (again) bc i missed my fav sapphics 🥺 so yes: gay carol fic! 🏳️‍🌈 fyi: i have very limited knowledge of norse mythology, so i'm taking some creative liberties with what we've seen from the thor films + some aspects of norse mythology used as canon in the comics regarding heven/the tenth realm. if it's inaccurate or unrealistic ... this is a fanfic! so don't sweat it. the timeline of this book is gonna be a lil funky since there's like a ~30 yr gap between captain marvel and the other avengers films but we're rolling w/ it 🚴‍♀️ and even though this is a carol fic, a lot of it is centered on dagny/sylvi, so there will be chunks of the book where she and carol are separate *cough* ragnarok *cough* because they both got their own stuff goin on! 😤 OK THAT'S IT ENJOY! 🤘
