9. Alexa

It had been three hours of sitting at pretty boy's kitchen table, snatching the laptop from his hands and laying it on my lap. We'd written two pages. Two pages in three hours.

It didn't help that he was super... Pretty. At school, he was so uptight. He was rigid, and his hair was never out of place. He seemed perfect at school. But here, in his home, he changed. He was laid back. He'd changed into grey sweatpants and a white T-shirt. His arms were toned. He was tan.

His face was in a constant, half hearted smile. The kind that was sleepy, and made wrinkles around his stunning eyes. Hair was a mess, but the kind you liked to look at. It was wavy, flopped over to one side.

I hated it.

Finally, he closed the laptop. I glared at him. "We aren't done."

He gave me the heart throb smile. "We're taking a break."

"I'm gonna break your neck if you don't unlock that damn computer again."

He forged a pout, puckered lower lip protruding. "Oh, c'mon. Relax, Alexa."

I glared. "I don't do relaxed."

The front door opened, and there was the sound of laughter and a deep voice speaking. I looked behind me as the voices got closer. A middle aged woman with straight black hair and brilliant, wide blue eyes and freckles came in, smiling. Her wings were soft, but wide, with fluffy pastel pink feathers.

Behind her, a tall man stood. His face looked serious, yet his grin never disappeared. He had the same hairstyle as Alex in a brown edition. His eyes, though, were the same brilliant blue as his wife's. His wings stretched out behind him, bright white. They were almost as large as his wife's.

"Hello, Alexander!" The woman chirped. Her voice was soft and delicate.

Alex gave that tired smile. "Hey, Mom."

The man looked towards me. "Have you finally gotten yourself a new girlfriend?" He chimed, smiling at me. He strode forwards, looking down at me. "This one's prettier than Grace was."

I opened my mouth to rudely protest, but his mom spoke over me. "Oh, she is. Look at her. I love that whole punk look you have going. Oh, Alexander, what's her name?"

I glared. "I'm Alexa, not his girlfriend, and I can speak for myself."

"Oh, are you sure?" Mrs. Cronan asked. "You would be absolutely perfect for our dear Alexander. The two Alexes!"

Alex finally spoke up. He cleared his throat. "I'm still dating Gracie..," he said, quietly. His eyes latched onto the floor, boring into the tiles. I'd have to ask him about it later.

"Well," Mr. Cronan said to me. "You're welcome here anytime, Alexa. Welcome to the family."

I resisted the urge to glare. Families break. Especially the "perfect" ones.
