Chapter One
Opal sighed as she walked down the hallway to her old queen's room.
Not my old queen's room, she corrected herself. Queen Sapphire's room.
A stab of sorrow, another in a thousand moments of hidden grief. She missed Queen Mistral dearly. Her comforting smile, fun dances, and understanding had made Opal feel warm inside, but not uncomfortably. When she got to the room, she was glad to recognize one of the guards. The other one clanged his sword down, the sound ringing through her ears. She winched internally but kept her face neutral.
"Hey, Blizzard, it's just Opal." Frigid admonished him.
"State your business," Blizzard snapped, completely ignoring Frigid.
"Just a call from the queen," Opal replied.
Probably so she can yell at me, she thought.
She forced a smile. Doing it was so much easier than actually having a smile spread across her face, but it hurt her heart when she remembered how easily they had come to her face before, even in a place as fierce as the Ice Kingdom.
"And it's great to see you too, Blizzard."
Frigid was trying not to laugh so hard he was shaking, and Opal quickly brushed past Blizzard's sword into Sapph-Queen Sapphire's chambers before he burst.
Time to get yelled at by a moody queen, she thought.
Yay!
Hi! I've decided to come off of inactiveness (Is that a word?) to write this book, because I think it has a lot of potential, but that's it. If anybody reads this, thank, you're awesome, and I will give you lots of I don't know what's! Exciting, right? (You can clearly see where Opal's personality came from) Thanks!
