Chapter 25: Skylar's POV
Misty came in just after the fight. When she saw all the people crowded around me, she gave me a questioning look.
"What? What happened?" she asked in confusion. One girl filled her in on the details.
"Nice Sky!" she said simply. Well, I must say it was better than, "I'll go to your funeral," as one guy commented.
"Nice Sky?" one river Elemental asked, "She's dead!" A murmur of agreement passed throughout the training center.
"I don't see what the big deal is. Are you all scared of a group of bullies?" Misty asked, "I mean honestly, have any of you gone to a public middle school?" About two hands shot up, but that was all.
"Most Elementals are homeschooled with the basic subjects- we study hard enough to pass normal high school- and when we think we're ready, our parents drop us off here." Cloud said.
"How do you cram all that in? Your brain has to develop a certain amount before learning some things." I asked.
"Well we are Elementals. In normal society, we would be classified as brilliant." One girl stated in a kind of know-it-all voice.
"Ohhhh! That's why we passed all our classes with such ease!" Misty exclaimed. Someone in the back face palmed.
"Anyways, we should take 'em down." I said in a fake New Jersey accent. Many gave exasperated looks before returning to what they were doing early. Fine then. Be like that. Mist and I returned to our training, and when I say train, I mean train. We worked like crazy. We literally worked for nine hours, stopping just before dinner stopped being served and Brooke began blowing up our helpers asking where we were. It was tiring work, very tiring, but we were determined.
"Let's stop by the cafeteria and get some dinner before they close," I said on the way back.
"Agreed," Mist replied. I was starving. But I was happy to have trained so hard. We were now probably better than half of the school at controlling wind. Just wait till we show Storm, I thought. We've got a surprise for him.
