On My Own

Looking into familiar black eyes, 

I said,

You have kept me strong for as long as I can remember.

Tracing the outline of the hand similar to mine,

I said,

You have stood by me through thick and thin.

Smiling with my eyes,

I said,

You have trusted me with all your heart.

Stepping back from the mirror and looking at myself,

I said, 

You are the only one who will never leave me.
