Prologue

The year was 1983 in the backyard of a house in Lawrence, KS two children were in the heat of an argument, the little boy lay underneath his twin sister as his nose bled profusely. The young girl's eyes held tears in them as one of her arm's hung at an odd angle.

"What on earth is going on out here?" Came the deep voice of their father as he exited the house when he heard the screaming." Your mom is trying to put Sammy to sl..what the hell happened here?!" John demanded seeing his daughter on top of her brother.

He could see her arm was broken and she had apparently punched Dean in the nose.

Dean and Dahlia looked up at their father both with tears in their eyes for different reasons of course. It was Dean who spoke up first.

"She hit me!" Dean howled.

"He told me I couldn't play with him because I'm a girl." Dahlia countered. "So, I hit him." she added innocently.

John pinched the bridge of his nose, the twins had been going through this for a few weeks, ever since Dean had made new friends with the neighbor boys. He remembered how they told Dean that girls could not play with them. He sighed as he walked over to them and knelt in front of his twins.

"Okay so what happened to your arm princess?" John asked, having a fairly good idea of what happened but wanted to hear it from his twins.

"I fell out of the tree." Dahlia said softly as she looked away.

"Okay why were you in the tree?" John asked. The older male was impressed that she was not screaming her head off at this point. John waited for an answer from Dean as he picked Dahlia up off Dean and led them towards the back of the house. He stopped inside the door and grabbed the keys to call out to Mary.

"Mary, stay with Sammy. I'm taking Dean and Dahlia to the ER. Everything is okay. I just have to have them checked out." He called out to her.

"Wait what?" The twins' mom rushed towards the back door. "Why what happened?" Mary asked as she looked at the twins. Mary's eyes widened as she looked at Dahlia's arm and Dean's face as she tried to remain calm in front of her oldest two children. "Um John, how is any of that," The young blonde woman asked as she nodded her head towards her twins. "Okay?" She added with panic setting into her eyes.

"It's okay Honey I have them. We'll be back soon, and I'll make sure this won't happen again." John told her as he kissed her cheek.

As John carefully buckled the twins in the back of the impala, he looked in the rearview mirror at Dean. Dean sat quietly as he looked at his sister's guilt in his eyes as the tears started to fall.

"I'm sorry I didn't think you would fall and get hurt. I will not ever do it again. You can play with me. I won't play with them anymore." Dean rambled out.

John raised an eye as he watched his son and daughter interact.

"You dared me because they told you too and I fell. That's why you were going to get hit again." Dahlia said softly.

The exchange between the two four-year-old toddlers caused John to chuckle softly to himself. As they were in the ER, he was surprised to see that Dean sat with Dahlia the whole time holding her hand. As her arm was reset and about to be casted Dean spoke up.

"She doesn't like pink; she likes Blue or purple." He spoke up looking at the nurse who stood there with the material.

John couldn't help but laugh this time as he watched his twins, on the way home he had a long talk with Dean about how not including his sister in things was wrong and might end up with her beating him up. He then told Dahlia that beating her brother up was not the right thing to do even if he did deserve it. After they arrived back home Mary had her own talk with her twins, it was any normal night or so they thought. Mary had heard Sam crying in his crib and got up to take care of him. As she entered the room, she saw someone she thought was her children's father standing over the crib.

It was not until she headed downstairs that panic set in when she saw her husband asleep in a chair holding their daughter. She had rushed back upstairs but it was too late, it was John who now stood in the nursery of their six-month-old son as he had woken up from what seemed like a scream. Dean and Dahlia stood in the hallway; Dahlia had a hold of her twin's hand. The two of them wonder what was going on in their little brother's room. When suddenly, their dad rushed out of the room and handed Sam to Dean.

"Dean, take your sister and brother outside. "John told him; his voice filled with panic.

It was not much of an effort to pull Dahlia from the house as she watched in horror. Dean and she stood side by side looking up at their home when arms wrapped around them as their home exploded into flames. However, they were not the only family to lose their mother that night. Two counties over from the city of Lawrence, Kansas there were twin sisters that held their 6 month old little brother in their arms. While they watched as the fire licked up the walls like a snake that slithered across the hot desert looking for water to quench its thirst, the fire kept growing up the walls. One thing was sure that night changed the six children's lives forever.

Later that week after the funeral of both Mary Winchester and Arien Matthews, John had decided he was going to figure out what the hell happened and kill it, whereas James already knew and started pushing his children off on an old friend,  though his old friend  eventually took custody of the Matthews children and raised them as his own.
