Ch 1
Present day: 2005
Dahlia was asleep in the passenger seat of the impala, while three figures slept curled up in the back seat, two female and one male. A blanket was pulled tightly around Dee's small frame, as he glanced in the rear view mirror to check on the sleeping trio. Dean hadn't told any of them where they were going or why, all Dahlia knew was that their dad had gone out on a case and hadn't checked in for a few days and the siblings in the backseat had offered to help look into it. As the car came to a stop Dahlia shifted around as if she were going to wake up, Dean sighed in relief when she hadn't. He waited to exit the car making sure all four of them were still asleep.
If his sister had known they were going to Stanford to get their little brother. She would have stopped him, hell if Liv had known she would have made him turn the car around after she beat his ass. Dean was glad all three women and Bryn remained asleep ,it was obvious his sister hadn't been sleeping well. If only he knew the truth. Dean climbed through the window of Sam's apartment when he was tackled by a male. The two wrestled around for a bit before Dean spoke.
"Hey there Sammy, you're out of practice." Sam did not miss a beat and flipped Dean over. "Or not." Dean quipped.
As the lights came on Sam's girlfriend stood there with a short angry blonde haired blue-eyed female.
"Son of a bitch." Dean whispered to himself as he glanced at his sister, ignoring Jessica.
"Lia?" Sam asked as he stood up pulling their brother up with him. He walked over and hugged her.
"Yep in the flesh." Dahlia spoke up with a bright smile as she hugged her little brother back.
"Ah how t...
"Don't even think you're off the hook Dean Michael Winchester !" Dahlia spoke up as she stepped away from Sam. "You told me we weren't coming here." She stated smacking Dean in the back of the head.
"Oooo, She used your middle name!" Sam stated in a teasing voice as he heard Jessica speak up.
"So? Your brother and sister? "Jess asked after returning from putting on some clothes.
"Yeah Dahlia and Dean." Sam laughed softly as he watched Dahlia yell at Dean. "Anyways, what brings you two here?" He asked when Dahlia turned with just a smile.
"Um Dad's missing." Dean stated.
Sam sighed as he watched Dahlia glance out the window, his sister was the one that had always taken care of him and Dean when their dad was gone.
"So, he's working overtime on a Miller time shift." Sam spoke up.
"No Sammy." Dahlia spoke up her eyes, never leaving the window. "He's on a hunting trip and he hasn't checked in for a couple weeks." She spoke up as she turned to face the three of them in the room.
Sam hated when Dahlia could finish what Dean was practically thinking or the way she knew how to make you feel what she was implying. With the words that had left her lips and the way her eyes shimmered with what seemed like unshed tears caused Sam to shiver.
"Uh Jess, can you excuse us for a moment please." Sam stated with a nod to his siblings.
Dahlia had already made her way towards the door; she was halfway there before she stopped and smiled.
"It was nice to meet you Jess. Hope we can do it more properly next time." She called out to the blonde and with that she made her way down to the impala to wait for her brothers.
Sam did not miss how Dean had not commented about what his girlfriend was wearing and wondering what was going on. As he caught up with his siblings, he was about to ask Dean if he was feeling okay when he caught sight of three other people in the back of the impala. At first, he gave Dahlia a questioning look, but it disappeared when one of the people stepped out of the car and made her way towards them. Olivia waved at Sam as she made her way to Dean who kissed her on the cheek, this action caused everything to click in Sam's head.
"Finally!" Sam stated out loud as he neared the car and watched the three of them. "Liv, it's good to see you again." Sam stated as he wondered who was in the back seat still. "So, what's really going on?" He asked.
Dahlia made her way to the right passenger side of the car to check on the other people before she came back to the trunk of the car with her brothers and Liv.
"Scar and Bryn are still asleep." Dee stated.
Sam's head snapped in his older sister's direction as his eyes widened. He stared at her when she mentioned Scar and their little brother Bryn.
"Did you say Scar? As in Scarlett? And Bryn?" Sam asked, his voice nearly cracked.
"Yeah, She, Dahlia and I were on a job and she had a little accident." Liv stated as she leaned against Dean who was rubbing her back gently.
"Hey, it wasn't your fault, I've told you that." Dean stated.
"It was no one's fault. She tripped over that damn kid's toy and broke her arm. Livie it's not like it was a monster or something." Dahlia added as she rifled through the trunk looking for the reason they were there.
"Wait, you're telling me Dad let you two go hunting on your own?" Sam asked point at his older siblings. Before he turned to Olivia." And Bobby let you and Scar and Bryn go out alone as well?" He questioned before he realized that Scar was hurt. "And she fell over a kid's freaking toy?!?" He half yelled.
Dean looked at his brother like he had three heads before a smirk made its way onto his lips.
"Man come on Bryn and I were working a case and beside the girls can handle themselves. Besides, you think I wouldn't keep track of them? "Dean asked before he leaned over and whispered.'' Or are you just worried that Scar got hurt?" He teased his little brother.
Dee ignored her brothers as she rolled her eyes, Sam had no reason to be worried. After all he and Scar had only had a school girl/boy crush on each other, why was he so angry that she had gotten hurt on something so trivial.
At the sound of yelling coming from just behind the car an angry redhead stuck her head out of the car and glared at the four people.
"Shut the hell up, will ya Bryn is sleeping!" Scar groaned. "Hey Sammy." She mumbled before pulling her head back in the window and crashing again as she snuggled up against her brother.
Sam raised an eyebrow as he watched Scar stick her head back into the car after yelling at the four of them, and then just say hey to him like she had just seen him a couple days ago. As Sam turned to look at his siblings and Olivia, the said sister spoke up.
"Low dose pain meds, she is on a couple at the moment." Liv stated as she stepped away from Dean to check on her siblings.
"Just be glad she told you to shut up, ask Dean what she did to him when he picked us up from the ER." Dee stated as she fished something out of the trunk of the impala with a triumphant look in her eyes. "Yes I found it, here." She added as she handed the recorder over to Sam. "Oh and Sammy if you do join us you are sitting in the back seat." Dee quipped with a laugh as she walked to the driver side of the car. "Oh Dean I'm driving since you lied, get over it." The short blonde retorted before her younger twin could speak up.
Livie chuckled as she glanced from where she was checking on her siblings, she shook her head at her boyfriend and his brother. She wondered if the two would ever learn not to piss their sister off, but then again they were Winchesters, making each other angry was what they did best.
"You know there is EVP on this recording." Sam retorted.
Dean caught the look that their sister was giving them through the side mirror, a slight sigh slipped from his lips as he moved forward and pulled the file from the trunk.
"This file goes with the recording, two lane black top outside of Jericho California, this guy up and vanishes but they find his car.'' Dean offered as he handed the file over to Sam, it was a printout from the Jericho Herald.
As Dean closed the trunk, Liv walked past the brothers only stopping to give Dean a kiss, she smiled at Sam and shook her head.
"We really have missed you Sam, I hope you're able to join us." Liv spoke up as she walked over to the impala and slipped into the front seat next to Dee.
Olivia placed a hand on Dahlia's arm as she watched the blued eyed blonde tap her fingers on the steering wheel, Sam leaving hadn't been the easiest on any of them. Dahlia and Scarlett took it the hardest. As Liv glanced back at her sleeping sister she shook her head, as she turned to say something to Dee she nearly had a heart attack when Dee was staring at her. The raven haired female hated how quiet the female Winchester could be when she wanted to be, but it was what had made her one of the best hunters that she knew. A small squeal had left Livie's lips in protest at how Dee had frightened her which earned her a small chuckle from the older female.
"Sorry Livie, I just.. I didn't mean to scare you." Dee stated as her phone went off, the sound caused the young blonde to freeze for a moment as she searched the pockets of her leather jacket. As she found the phone her eyes lit up at the number she saw flash across the screen. "Uh I'm sorry Liv I have to take this call, it's important." She replied as she slipped from the driver side of the car and glanced back at her brothers before answering.
"Hey Luc?" Dee spoke softly using the nickname she had given the person on the other end of the phone. "Give me one second and I'll be right with you." She told the person she was on the phone with.
As Dean and Sam were talking about the case the pair heard the car door open and the voice of their sister as she was speaking to someone. As the brothers glanced up they saw that she was on the phone.
"Dahlia..."Dean had started to call out but as soon as he had spoken Dee had turned to face her brothers.
"You interrupt my phone call, or get behind that wheel. Or even eavesdrop and I'll make sure Baby becomes mine permanently. Are we clear Dean?" Dee asked in a questioning yet threatening tone before her eyes drifted towards her little brother. "And Sammy get your shit together and get in the damn car we don't have all day! You'll be back in time for your Law thing." She added before walking off further to continue her call.
Both Dean and Sam could only stand there looking at their sister with their mouths hanging open for a moment or two before they turned to look at each other.
"How is she...?"Dean asked.
"I hate when she does that!" Sam groaned.
"You two really want to piss her off tonight don't you?" Livie chuckled as she stuck her head out the window, while she watched the two men standing at the rear of the car with an amused look in her eyes. "Do you honestly think she won't leave either of you here while we go search for John?" Liv giggled.
Sam narrowed his eyes at Liv as she spoke, however he knew she was right Dahlia would leave them behind and wouldn't care less in the moment, though she would eventually return for them. As Sam was about to speak he heard a chuckle from the left of him and titled his head to glance at Dean.
"What is so funny Dean?" Sam asked his older brother.
"Well for one she is right and two don't glare at my fiancé, she'll kick your ass." Dean retorted before his tone became serious, there was a slight pause. "And then I'll kick your ass brother or not!'' He added with a quick laugh. "Now back to the case, Dee has already looked over it and listened to the recording." Dean replied.
"Fine, let me...Wait did you just say Fiancée?!?!"Sam screeched in shock.
"Mhmm you seem to miss things when you aren't around little brother." Dean quipped.
Dean's comment had given away more than Sam truly knew, even though he had no clue what it was.
"Uh huh." Sam retorted in shock wondering what else he had missed as his eyes scanned over the file.
Dahlia was within eyesight of both the impala and her brothers as she spoke on the phone, the smile never left her lips as she listened to the person on the other end.
"No Luc they are okay. Thank you for helping with that by the way." She whispered just loud enough for him to hear. "I'm fine, Hmm Jericho California is where we are headed. Wait really?" Dee asked, the surprise filling her voice. "Yes I promise to be careful and I... wait did you just say I love you?" She asked, her cheeks growing warm. "Of course I do, I love you too." Dee replied as she glanced around realizing her brothers were nowhere to be seen. "So Shit have to go, Bye Dad hope you get this message please call me or Dean, Please we are worried about you." She quickly added as she heard a chuckle on the other end of the line.
"Dad?" Dean asked, stepping up from behind his sister, as he wondered who she was talking to.
"Mhmm, just calling in to try to get him to call us again." Dee stated. "Come on, Sammy should be back at the car by now." She quickly covered up as she slipped the phone into her pocket and headed for the driver's side of Baby.
"hmm? You aren't hiding anything from me are you baby sister? Are you?" Dean questioned not really believing Dahlia had called their father.
When the pair arrived Sam was sitting in the back seat on the other side of Bryn watching the siblings sleep, his eyes running over Scar taking in how much she had changed. How much older and mature she seemed to have gotten in the few years he was gone. He nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard people clearing their throats. As he looked up there were three sets of eyes staring back at him.
"You don't have the right to stare at my sister like Samuel Winchester." Olivia growled with a glare as she turned back around.
"Dude eyes up front and off the sister!" Dean quipped, pulling Liv into his side.
"Samuel James Winchester keep your eyes to yourself, you have a girlfriend remember!" Dee hissed at her younger brother, she had grown protective over Scar after all she was the mother of her 4 year old niece and she wouldn't have her brother coming in and out of the little girl's life or ruining what they all had help Scar rebuild of her life.
As Sam glanced looked at the three in the front seat, his eyes moving over each of them. Until they landed on his older sister and his eyes widened at the anger he saw in them. As his mouth became dry, she nodded his head quickly.
"Y..yes Ma'am... I mean Dee." Sam quipped as he tried to figure out what he had done to piss off his sister.
The car ride was quiet for most of the ride until the sun started to rise and Scar had started to stir, the sleepy redhead slowly opened her eyes and gave Dee a smile as she looked up at her in the rearview mirror. However that was not what caught her by surprise was the third person in the backseat next to her brother. At first she had thought it was Liv but when she saw the dark haired female with her head on Dean's shoulder her head turned slowly to take in who was sitting next to them.
"What the actual hell!" Scar yelled when she saw Sam sitting on the other side of Bryn. "When did you get here? Why are you here?" She asked, her temper coming down just a bit as she realized that Bryn was now staring at them and they had officially stopped at a gas station.
"Good to see you, Scar." Sam half laughed with a nod of his head, starting to wonder why everyone was so angry with him. "You to Bryn." He added as he glanced at his sister, Liv and Dean.
Liv and Dee were quiet as they slipped from the driver side of the car and Dean didn't know what to say to his brother, but he could feel Scar's eyes burning a whole into the back of his head.
"Sam pick something, I'm going to put gas in the car before Scar sears my brain with her eyes, Love ya Scar." Dean teased as he got out of the car to pump the gas.
Bryn desperately wanted out, he was stuck between his angry sister and the man that had truly pissed her off. He looked at Scar with pleading eyes as she nodded her head, she didn't want to even speak to Sam in that moment afraid of what would come out of her mouth. So as she opened the door the pair of siblings slipped from the impala and moved to the front of the car to wait for the others. Bryn was quiet as he let his sister quietly vent her anger, just watching as she paced back and forth. Sam watched the siblings slip from the car as he pulled the box of old cassettes into his lap and looked through them.
"Man you need to update your music." He stated his eyes actually never leaving Scar as she paced.
"Why? And Stop Staring Sammy!" Dean retorted.
"What is her problem with me anyways?" Sam asked as he glanced at his brother. "And why is our sister so pissed I was looking at Scar back on the way out Stanford?" He questioned.
As Dean placed the nozzle of the gas pump back in its place he leaned against the car, his eyes roamed over the gas station, he noticed Livie who was walking towards them. His sister walked around the side of the building and then to the siblings at the front of the car.
"Sorry Sam, you need to ask Scar about that and as for Dee, you left man." He paused before speaking again. "You broke both their hearts. Dee's was easier to mend, Scar's was a lot more difficult and you have Jessica now, she is waiting for you at home. So don't try anything that will break her again." Dean replied as he pushed himself off of the impala and started walking towards Liv. "You can't have both little brother, leave the music alone. You think I'll kick your ass. Dahlia will burn your bones and then resurrect you to do it again." He chuckled as he pulled Liv into his arms and kissed her. It was a sweet yet passionate kiss that ended all too soon when they heard Sam groan.
''Get a room you two!" Sam called after Dean.
"Shut up Swizzle Sticks or you won't get any food we picked out." Liv quipped as Dean and she broke the kiss, the moment having been ruined by Sam.
"Where is my sister?" Sam asked with a roll of his eyes when he glanced around the area.
"Geez Sammy ever heard of a little privacy?" A soft voice spoke up from the front of the impala.
As the trio glanced up they saw Dahlia standing there a small glint of mischievousness appearing in her eyes, Dean knew that look all too well. As he glanced between the five other people he let a sigh slip from his lips before he kissed Liv again.
"Looks like I'm in the back seat till the next stop." Dean whined only to receive a laugh from Liv.
As Liv slipped her hand into Dean's she shook her head and pulled him towards the car, as they rounded the driver's side of the car Liv slid into the backseat first so that she was sitting between the two brothers.
"No, Dee and I talked about it in the gas station. We figured it would be best to let Bryn and Scar sit up front for a bit." Livie offered before looking at Sam. "Sorry Sam." She added.
"No offense taken." Sam stated as he slipped the box of cassette tapes back up front and looked at the file on the case some more.
It wasn't much longer before Dee, Scar and Bryn had joined them, Scar sat in the middle letting Bryn have the window as she fiddled around with the music. It was quiet until she popped in Metallica and a round of laughter echoed through the car as Dean started singing along to Enter Sandman. A few hours later the small group was pulling into Jericho California. As they pulled up to the highway Dee glanced back at her brothers in the back seat before Bryn, Scar and Liv.
"So how do we want to let this one play out?" Dahlia asked.
"Well How about you ...."Dean started to say but was quickly cut off by his sister.
"I swear to god Dean if you suggest I show them the twins I will make sure you and Liv are never able to have kids!" Dee retorted as she climbed from the car and started to walk away.
A soft giggle was heard from the front seat as Scar watched the Winchesters sister walk away from them, it wasn't but a few seconds later when both back car doors were closed and the brothers were following behind their sister.
"You know when you watch them, You would never know that Dahlia is younger than Dean." Bryn quipped.
"Watching them you would never realize that sweet looking Dee is actually scary and her brothers are truly afraid of that small woman." Scar retorted.
"Hey one of those Chickens is my fiancée remember? "Olivia giggled as she leaned over the front seat to watch the three Winchesters in action.
"Like you two are any worse than Dee!" Bryn added with a quick chuckle as their eyes focused on the siblings. It had been four years since the three Winchesters had worked a case together, but it was like riding a bike. Once together again they knew exactly what they needed to do and how to react with each other.
