Ch. 17
"This time it won't be awkward?"
"This time it won't be awkward." Wil repeated with a smile. I had asked if we could hang out once again... Yet I didn't want to go to his house knowing his mother probably looked at me differently now and my brother had his annoying friends over so I asked my mom if I could go with Wil to the burger joint on the square. She said okay as long as Wil's mom agreed on it. Wil telling me at first she hesitated but he assured a group was going. Which was a lie.... But hey! We're here waiting for our burgers.
"Order number thirty five!" An employee shouted ringing a bell.
"That's us." Wil said before getting up to get our order of two burgers with cheese, two small tray of fries. A Coke, a small chocolate shake and a water.
"Mmm it looks so good." I reached for a burger not having eaten since the morning. I used the plastic ketchup bottle to make a small puddle near my fries. At times I liked ketchup and wanted it all over my fries but sometimes I just wanted to dip the tip and enjoy them like that.
"This is pretty good." Wil said with a full mouth shaking his head.
"Course it is! Best burgers in town!"
"Never knew."
"Try the shake." I pushed over the cup.
"I can't."
"Lactose in tolerant?"
"Nope, it's your shake." I gave him an 'Are you serious face' rolling my eyes as I popped in a second straw for him. He didn't protest once he saw me put in another straw, grabbing it and taking a sip. "That's not so bad, tastes like mint chocolate ice-cream." Wil licked his lips.
"Don't they put ice cream in shakes?"
"I don't know... This is the third shake I've had ever in my whole life time."
"You're kidding me right?"
"Nope."
"Were you living under a rock before I met you?"
"Pretty much... Plus not everyone is as wealthy as you to be eating out enough times to try a thousand shakes."
"Hey, I paid for this because it's making up for your glasses."
"You say everything makes up for my glasses." Wil smirked.
"I still feel bad you know..." I pouted squishing my face.
"What if we get even and I break some item of yours? Afterwards you won't feel so guilty anymore."
"It's not just the glasses, I can still feel myself smashing into you my hard head thumping your chin."
"You do have a hard head..."
"Don't stretch it." I narrowed my eyes.
"But it didn't hurt, I live with little kids. If not once than at least thirty times one of them has at one point hit their head against my face and just a little memo little kids have hard heads."
"Nerd." I joked referring to the little memo thing he mentioned... It really doesn't make him a nerd for saying it but come on who in a causal convo lets you know a 'little memo.'
"Ouch. For as you stung my chest with your harmful words." Wil placed his hand on his chest looking at the ceiling. I giggled, kicking him underneath the table. "Ow, what was that for."
"You're a dork." I sticked out my tongue.
"And you're-"
"Beat it dweeb!" The both of us turned to see Dan his hands placed on the table glaring at Wil, Brady behind Dan.
"Oh get lost!" I opened my mouth to argue but it seems as if Wil beat me to it. My eyes increasing in size.
"What did you say to me?"
"I-I said get lost. Yeah! She doesn't want you here, she never does." Wil stuttered at first whispering as his voice increased in volume once again finding this new confidence.
"Who does he think he's talking to?" Dan bitterly laughed turning to Brady with a face full of mockery. "Listen, I'm going to give you another chance to take back what you said." Dan grabbed Wil by his collar.
"Dan just leave." I sighed tired of the same thing all the time. In the blink of an eye Wil leaned in giving Dan a kiss on the lips. Dan instantly letting him go wiping his lips rapidly.
"This faggot kissed me!" I heard Dan say, my wrist being grabbed as we ran out of the burger joint. We didn't stop until we reached this park... It looked like a park. My mind blank and fuzzy from what had just happened five or so minutes ago. The both of us breathing heavily my eyes watching him closely. I sat down on the grass placing my hands on my face and my elbows on my thighs as I calmed down my breathing.
"Why'd you kiss him?" I breathed out the words.
"What better way to get him to let go of me. Why enforce violence... Now if he would have hit me well that would have been a different story." Wil spoke rather quickly trying to get everything out in one breath.
"Oh..." I ripped out pieces of grass. Silence between the two of us except for our harsh breaths. The sunset hidden between trees. Was it wrong that I felt crushed... Felt like I had been living a lie. Dang flabbit Megan was right when we sat on the lunch table observing Wil from afar the way his lips took their precious time savoring the banana-
"I'm not gay, if- if that's what you're thinking..." Wil sat down and I swear church bells rang opening the light in my eyes once again.
"I never said you were..."
"Oh... It's just that you uh kept quiet and it was like if you uh were wondering but at the same time wanting to ask." Wil scratched the back of his head.
"Okay... Maybe I was a tad curious." I lifted two fingers creating a mini box.
"I just want to scrape my lips off with some bleach." Wil sighed laying backwards on the grass. I looked to my side his hips in my view. His sweater vest rose up a bit exposing the bottom of his stomach the transition to his happy trail. I bit my lip looking down at my lap. Innocent thoughts Mia... Innocent thoughts. I repeated to myself with closed eyes. "Even though it was just a lip on lip thing, its like he doesn't know was chapstick is let alone a breath mint." Wil chuckled.
"His lips were dry?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah..."
"Strange. Dan's lips are always slobbery like a dog and his kisses are so wet and gross." I shuddered.
"You've kissed?" Wil sat up mid way his elbows sustaining him.
"Not by choice... But yeah."
"Oh."
"Yeah." I laid back on the grass noticing the sunset was disappearing into the distance. A gust of wind blowing past us whooshing my hair in my face. "You do realize he's going to use that against you, and taunt you."
"Quite frankly I don't give a shit, it wouldn't make a difference to the names I'm already called." Wil turned to his side.
"I hate Dan."
"I hate Hayden. And Dan I hate him too."
"Like I don't normally hate people, like I can say I hate you but you know I don't mean it." I turned to my side.
"I can't take you seriously enough to believe it." Wil chuckled somehow still managing to look else where when he laughed. His eyes looking down his beautiful long lashes on display.
"Why can't you take me seriously?" I frowned.
"I just can't. You're too cute to believe your pouty face." I found myself blushing trying to hide it but there was not much moving in this side position.
"Well it's easy to believe yours, you're like Oscar the grouch 24/7!" I smacked his shoulder causing him to lay once again on his back. Wil sustained himself on one elbow as he returned the action pushing me back. I fell with a 'humph' too lazy to move as my eyes caught glimpse of the beautiful stars in the night sky.
"Sorry, did I push you too hard?" Wil poked his head in my view. He never apologized... At least this was the first I've heard an apology like a sincere one expect for his big spill and not just because he accidentally touched me.
"I'm fine." I held out my hand hoping he'd help me up. Once he did I pulled him forward causing him to fall. Not thinking my plan throughly as his weight landed on me.
"Evil." He stressed and I laughed, my heart begging to jump out of my chest. I could feel his chest move up and down. He prompted himself up so he wasn't entirely squishing me. This close proximity allowing me to inhale his potent cologne wrapping me around the scent. His heavy breathing being felt on my skin. I stared into his mesmerizing green brown eyes being brought out with the moon light, watching as he bit his lips. I swallowed, wondering if he wanted this as much as I did. Had I forced him into this position and now he had no choice? "You're driving me insane." Wil confessed closing what was not even a gap, thats how close I was but I was afraid to make the move. As if all the thoughts that had consumed my mind the last so minutes had disappeared when our lips touched. I let out a sigh, Our heart beats breaking their separate pounding sounds combining to one. "So much better than Dan, so much better." Wil mumbled against my lips causing me to laugh in between the kiss breaking it apart. He couldn't help but laugh as well resting his forehead against mine. A second later switching positions reconnecting our lips for a less gingerly passionate kiss and more of a rough 'I've waited so long' sort of feel to it. Wil brought my bottom lip in between his teeth causing me to gasp lightly. Our fingers intertwining with one another as I returned the biting action. Receiving a groan, I blushed at his reaction, a bulge feeling against me. I moved slightly so I wasn't so against it... Not knowing how it worked not wanting to break anything as I placed my weight against it. But I only seemed to make things worse as Wil moaned louder this time. I froze staring down at him. "Why are you you teasing me." He grunted.
"I-I" I didn't know what to say or do so I hid my face in the crook of his neck. "I'm sorry." I whispered. Wil didn't respond with words instead his fingers caressed my hair placing it behind my ear as he kissed my temple. The both of us laying on the grass underneath the best lighting you could have.
