Time stops for no one *part 1*

My heart pounded in my chest, the sound of my blood rushing through my veins the only thing that I could hear as I gently knocked my fist against the white wood door.

"Come in." The Geordie voice sounded. I opened the door and started to walk in, the flowing material of my dress sweeping against my legs as I walked in. Will looked up, our eyes wavering at each other as he saw me in my dress and I saw him in his suit.

"Y/N, lass, you...you look amazing." He scoffed and shook his head, his eyes skimming up and down my body.

"So do you, Will. Don't you scrub up well?" I smiled, making him chuckle as I walked up to him and gently adjudged his bow tie, his hands rising to hold my waist. I smiled at him as I bit my lip, tears pricking my eyes as I stared at the boy that I was in love with, my engagement ring feeling impossibly icy against my finger.

"I'm getting married. I can't believe that I'm getting married." He gulped. I shook my head, starting to notice the nervous twinge in his eye as I gently took his face into my hands.

"You can do this, okay? We can do this. You're about to make the best decision of your life, you're about to marry the girl that you're in love with." I nodded and forced a smile into my lips as a tear rolled down my cheek. Will's eyebrows furrowed and he gently wiped the tear away with his thumb.

"Why are you crying?" he chuckled. Because I'm in love with you, but I'm not the one that you're marrying.

"Because it's an emotional day, and I'll be by your side for all of it." I spoke.

"And I love you for that." He admitted. I bit my lip and smiled before leaning up and pecking the corner of his lips, him returning the kiss as I pulled away and took his hand.

"Let's do this." I spoke, making him smile as we left his dressing room.

Will and I walked down the aisle, hand in hand as guests filled the church. My midnight blue dress matched Will's suit, as well of the suits of George, Alex and James. After all, I was Will's best woman, so I had to match with him and the groomsmen.

"Fuck, I feel like I'm about to throw up." Will gulped as we got to the altar.

"You're going to be absolutely fine. You love Mia, you're going to be okay." I reassured, the words tasting poisonous in my mouth as I tried to sell what I was saying to the nervous lad. He took deep breaths and nodded as he looked into my eyes. Suddenly, the music started playing and everyone stood up as they looked towards the church doors. My eyes wavered, as did Will's as he looked towards the open doors. I followed his gaze, my heart in my throat as Mia started to walk down the aisle, a veil in her hair and her body clad in a beautiful wedding dress. My eyes wavered, tears pricking my eyes as Will's hand fumbled blindly to find mine. Eventually, it did, his fingers bending to intertwine with mine as his eyes stayed glued to Mia. But he didn't look entranced, he looked absolutely terrified. That look, I couldn't shake from my mind. Mia eventually reached the altar and smiled at Will, making him hesitantly return it as they faced each other. My eyes wavered again as the arm of my fiancé curled around my waist and pulled me into his side, making me look at him and force a smile onto my lips.

"You okay?" Alex asked, making me nod as I subtly fiddled with the engagement ring that he'd put onto my finger only a couple of months ago.

"Fine. Just happy for Will." I lied before turning back to look at Mia and Will as Alex kissed my head. I stood there, trying to hold back the tears as I watched the love of my life marry someone else. If only I had said something sooner, I could have stopped this. But after all, time stopped for no one.

Will's P.O.V

Will's heart pounded in his chest, the sound of his blood rushing through his veins the only thing that he could hear as he gently knocked his fist against the white wood door.

"Come in." The Geordie voice sounded. He opened the door and started to walk in, the crisp fabric of his blue suit sticking to his body in all of the right places as he walked in. Y/N looked up and Will's eyes wavered as he saw her in her wedding dress. He couldn't believe just how stunning she looked, her mermaid-style wedding dress hugging her body perfectly and making her look drop-dead gorgeous. The only problem was that she wouldn't be walking down the aisle to him. Instead, she'd be walking to Alex, one of Will's best mates.

"Y/N, lass, you...you look stunning." He scoffed and shook his head as he walked in and shut the door.

"So do you, Will. Don't you scrub up well?" she chuckled and bit her lip. He looked down and smiled before looking back up at her.

"Feels like we've been here before, like." Will teased, making Y/N roll her eyes playfully as Will's hands found her skin through her low-back dress, his wedding ring feeling unbearably cold against her warm and gentle skin.

"It was your turn. Now it's mine." She smiled, but something told Will that it was slightly forced as she hugged him tightly. He sighed and buried his face into her skin, trying to hide the tears pricking his eyes at the fact that he was about to give away the love of his life. Both emotionally and physically.

"I can't believe that I'm getting married, Will." The girl whispered into his ear. He sighed and nodded as he pulled back but not enough to let Y/N leave his arms as he looked at her.

"Neither could I, but you'll fine. You're in love with Alex and you're about to marry him. You're going to be fine." He reassured her, but he wasn't even convincing himself. Though it looked like he had convinced her as her lips curled into a smile and she took his hand.

"Let's do this." Will smiled as he gently pulled her out of the dressing room.

Will and Y/N stood at the doors to the church, Y/N taking deep breaths as her bridesmaids helped to fix her veil and make sure that the train of her dress fell correctly. Will looked at her.

"You okay, lass?" he asked, making her return the look.

"Just feel really nervous. Like, sick-nervous." She gulped.

"It's okay, that's normal. I felt the same when Mia started to walk towards is." He nodded. Her eyes wavered and she gulped before looking towards the doors. Will's heart plummeted to his feet as the doors opened, the eyes of all of the guests staring at the pair as the music started to play. He lost all feeling in his body, his mouth drying instantly as he saw Alex standing with his hands together at the end of the aisle, ready to marry the love of Will's life.

"You ready?" Will mumbled to Y/N. She gulped and nodded, though Will was only half convinced as they started to walk. Will's heart thumped so loudly that he was shocked that the guests couldn't hear it as he walked Y/N down the aisle, her hand tightly gripping his bicep as his hand rested over hers. After what felt like only a split second of walking, they reached the part that Will was dreading the most: the end of the aisle. They arrived at Alex, Will forcing a smile onto his lips as he shook Alex's hand before turning to Y/N. He leant in and kissed her cheek, letting it linger for a moment before pulling away and taking one last look at the love of his life before she married another man. He let her go, an action that felt like the end of his life as Alex and Y/N turned to face each other and Will took his place in the front row, next to Mia. She smiled at him as she took his arm, him not even trying to return the smile as he looked at Alex and Y/N. Will stood there, trying to hold back the tears as he watched the love of his life marry someone else. If only he had said something sooner, he could have stopped this. But after all, time stopped for no one.
