The fake boyfriend *part 1*
I stood in front of the full-length mirror that hung on the back of my bedroom door, my eyes skimming up and down my outfit for the night and checking for any last-minute changes that may need to be done. I nodded to myself, happy with my dark, slightly gothic makeup that went perfectly with my dark red bodycon dress and my strappy black heels. It was the perfect look to go out clubbing, and the perfect look to make Will, my crush and best mate, notice me. Well, he did notice me, but I wanted him to notice me as more than a friend, something that I'd wanted since we had met three years ago. The only issue with an outfit like this was that Will wasn't the only male who got attracted by the fact that I liked to show off my assets. Since I was considered a conventionally attractive woman, who dressed to show off her figure on nights out, I'd often get entitled asshole pigs of men coming up to me and refusing to take no for an answer. Which is why I had made it a rule for myself six months ago that I'd only go clubbing if I was going with at least one man. Of course, I shouldn't have needed the company of a man to make another respect my answer of "no" but that was how Canary Wharf clubs were.
"Y/N? You ready?" James's muffled voice sounded through my door.
"Aye, give is a second!" I yelled back to my flatmate before grabbing my clutch and opening the door. James looked up from his phone, his eyes widening as he saw what I was wearing.
"Damn, sis. You can tell that we're going out with Will tonight." He teased, making me playfully roll my eyes and gently nudge his shoulder as we walked into the living room.
"Don't make me regret telling you about that." I replied. He smirked and winked as I sat down and fastened up my heels before standing and taking the arm that he had offered to me.
"Let's go." I smiled.
I stood on the dance-floor, swinging my hips to the music and having the time of my life. I opened my eyes and frowned slightly as Aria no longer stood in front of me, like she had been five minutes ago. I shrugged it off, figuring that my friends would be close as I continued to dance by myself. Suddenly, two rough hands grabbed my waist, making me look over my shoulder at the stranger. He gave me a gross smirk, making me return with a hesitant smile before deciding that I wasn't for this and moving out of the crowd. I reached the edge of the crowd and breathed a sigh of relief as Will stood at the bar, clearly waiting to order a drink. He was my safety for the night.
"Hey!" I yelled over the music as I walked to him, making him look at me.
"Oy, oy, lass, how you doing?" he smiled as he looked down at me.
"Aye, I'm alright, but I need saving from all of these creepy men." I half-teased, but I had enough concern in my voice to let Will know that I was serious. His smile dipped slightly and he nodded as he looked up, his hand rising to hold my waist and protectively pulling me towards him as he looked around.
"Aye, lass, I've got you. No one is taking you home tonight. Well, maybe apart from me." He teased, making me roll my eyes and lightly slap my hand against his chest as he chuckled. He knew that I didn't mind, though. If anything, I liked the subtle flirting that occurred between us. It gave me the illusion that I actually had a chance with the attractive Geordie boy. I looked around, cautious of the fact that Will's hand on my waist and the fact that I was curled into his body seemingly wasn't putting off a lot of the guys at the bar, their eyes still on my ass and on my body as they waited for Will to pull away.
"Will, they're still looking at me." I sighed, studying them. I could feel Will shift, telling me that he was also looking at them.
"Right. I've got an idea, but you've got to trust is." He spoke. My eyebrows furrowed and I looked up at him, cautious of what possible plan would require my trust in him.
"What kind of plan needs me to trust you?" I scoffed, thinking out loud. He looked down at me.
"Do you trust is?" he reiterated. I sighed and looked into his stunning blue eyes.
"Aye. Course I do." I nodded. He nodded and flicked his eyes up to look at the men again.
"Good." He responded before gently taking my face into his hand. Before I knew what was happening, Will leant down and gently pressed our lips together. My eyes widened, my mind taken aback by the fact that I was being kissed by my crush, and that it was a kiss that he'd initiated. Even if it was only to get the creeps off of my back. I snapped back, my lips pressing against his and my arms moving to curl around his neck as his hands moved to my waist. Will broke the kiss, making me gulp and my cheeks heat up as he subtly looked up to check around us.
"Well, that worked." He chuckled quietly before looking down at me. I gulped, making him smirk as he saw how flustered I was.
"Pet, tell me that that little kiss didn't get you going, like." He teased, as if he knew. Of course it did, the guy that I'm in love with just kissed me, I thought as I looked at him.
"Don't flatter yourself. It was a nice kiss, sure, but get me going, it did not." I lied. He smirked and shook his head, looking back up to order a drink whilst I looked down and tried to hide my intensely blushing cheeks.
Will unlocked his front door, letting us both into his apartment before shutting the door behind us. I hadn't planned to stay the night at his, and neither of us were anywhere drunk enough to accidentally hook up, but due to a series of unfortunate events that involved me losing my keys and James going home with Aria before I could get his keys, I was at Will's for the night. Not that I minded.
"Fancy a drink or anything, pet?" Will asked, shrugging off his suit jacket as he walked into the kitchen and I sat on the sofa.
"Just water, please. I'm happy with the buzz that I've got." I nodded as I slipped my heels off of my feet. He returned it, soon walking into the living room with a glass of water and a beer for himself before sitting down next to me. I gave him a smile of thanks as I took the drink, but it disappeared as the same thought that had been gnawing away at me all night started to creep back into my brain. I looked at Will as he lazily hung his arm over my thigh and looked at his phone.
"Will, I've been thinking." I stated, making him look at me.
"About what?" he asked.
"About the kiss at the bar, and how it deterred all of the creeps from trying to make a move." I admitted. Will's eyes wavered slightly, though I wasn't sure why as he shut off his phone and turned his body to look at me.
"Aye, what about it?" he questioned. I gulped and looked at him, not sure how he'd take my slightly odd request.
"It got me thinking. It made me think that...maybe...you could, like, play my boyfriend on nights out." I requested. His eyes widened slightly.
"Sorry...play your boyfriend?" he scoffed.
"Aye. Like be a fake boyfriend. On nights out, you hold my waist or whatever, and you kiss me if you want, and you pretend to be my boyfriend to deter the creeps. As much as I hate it, some guys only seem to be put off by other guys instead of a girl just saying no, but if that's the game, I'll play it." I nodded. Will sighed and let his eyes wander as he shook his head.
"Y/N, pet, I don't know." He sighed.
"You wouldn't have to do anything that you're not comfortable with. It could literally just be telling a guy that you're my boyfriend in order to get him to back off. If that's all that you'd want to do, that's all that you'd have to." I reassured. I wouldn't lie to myself, actually getting to date Will would be a million times better than him only faking it, but if him faking it meant that I got one night a week of him holding me and acting close to me, I'd take it. He sighed and looked at me, obviously considering the proposition.
"Fine, alright. But don't get offended if I kiss ya, you asked for this." He chuckled slightly, half-teasing me. Please do kiss me, I thought.
"Yay! Thank you, Will, you won't regret this!" I squealed, making him laugh as I hugged him tightly.
"Aye, I'm sure that I won't, lass." He chuckled, making me smile and bite my lip as I sat back down next to him, his hand still on my thigh.
Will's P.O.V
"Fancy a drink or anything, pet?" Will asked, shrugging off his suit jacket as he walked into the kitchen and Y/N sat on the sofa.
"Just water, please. I'm happy with the buzz that I've got." She nodded as she slipped her heels off of her feet. He returned it, soon walking into the living room with a glass of water and a beer for himself before sitting down next to the beautiful girl. She gave him a smile of thanks as she took the drink, but Will could tell that something was bugging her as he lazily hung his arm over her thigh and looked at his phone.
"Will, I've been thinking." she stated, making him look at her in curiosity.
"About what?" he asked.
"About the kiss at the bar, and how it deterred all of the creeps from trying to make a move." she admitted. Will's eyes wavered slightly, his brain hoping to any god out there that the kiss was enough to make Y/N realise that Will liked her as more than just a friend. Surely, it had made her realise that, he thought as he turned his body to look at her.
"Aye, what about it?" he questioned. Y/N gulped and looked at him.
"It got me thinking. It made me think that...maybe...you could, like, play my boyfriend on nights out." she requested. His eyes widened slightly, his heart dropping to his feet. She hadn't realised what that kiss had meant.
"Sorry...play your boyfriend?" he scoffed.
"Aye. Like, be a fake boyfriend. On nights out, you hold my waist or whatever, and you kiss me if you want, and you pretend to be my boyfriend to deter the creeps. As much as I hate it, some guys only seem to be put off by other guys instead of a girl just saying no, but if that's the game, I'll play it." She nodded. Will sighed and let his eyes wander as he shook his head. He absolutely loved the idea of being able to hold Y/N like that and to kiss her, but he wanted to be able to do that whenever he wanted, not just as a deterrent to other guys on a night out.
"Y/N, pet, I don't know." He sighed.
"You wouldn't have to do anything that you're not comfortable with. It could literally just be telling a guy that you're my boyfriend in order to get him to back off. If that's all that you'd want to do, that's all that you'd have to." She reassured. He sighed and looked at her, considering the proposition laid out in front of him. After all, if he couldn't actually be with the stunning girl, being able to play her boyfriend once a week was the next best thing. At least he'd be able to hug, touch and kiss her.
"Fine, alright. But don't get offended if I kiss ya, you asked for this." He chuckled slightly, half-teasing her.
"Yay! Thank you, Will, you won't regret this!" she squealed, making him laugh as she hugged him tightly.
"Aye, I'm sure that I won't, lass." He chuckled, knowing that the only part that he'd regret would be not being able to actually be her boyfriend as she sat back down next to him, his hand still on her thigh.
