Peas in a pod

My eyes fluttered open, pain starting to creep into my head as my hangover started to take hold. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked around, confusion filling my mind as I looked around the unfamiliar bedroom. I looked down and started to put two and two together as my naked body lay in the sheets of the unknown bed, and a guy that I didn't recognise was lying next to me, still asleep and also naked. I rolled my eyes, smirking to myself as I figured that I'd gone home with him from the club last night. I looked at the man, his brown hair and strong jawline reminding me of my best friend, Will. Though, that didn't surprise me, I did have a crush on him, which meant that the majority of guys that I hooked up with after a drunken night out often shared the features that he had. And there was a lot of men. I sat up, trying not to wake the stranger as I grabbed my underwear and slipped it on before standing up. I quickly slipped my dress back on and zipped it back up before quietly grabbing my shoes and bag. At least, I thought I was being quiet.

"Oh, you're leaving." I sighed and closed my eyes as a very Southern accent filled the room. God, I fucking hated Southerners. I turned around and faked a smile as the guy was now sat up in his bed.

"Yeah, I've got stuff to do, people to meet. And my flatmate will be worried about me." I chuckled, trying to sound genuine as I lied through my teeth.

"Can you not just text them? I was hoping that I could treat you to breakfast, and maybe get your number." He chuckled. Jesus, just let me go, man, I thought.

"That's so sweet of you, but I'm not really a stay-and-connect-after-sex kind of girl." I smiled. At least that part was true. Well, it would become less true if I ever managed to hook up with Will.

"Oh, okay. Well, it was lovely to meet you, thanks for last night." He smiled.

"Same to you." I chuckled and nodded before opening his bedroom door and heading through his apartment, the fake smile immediately dropping from my lips as soon as he couldn't see my face anymore. I opened his front door and walked out, turning to face the door as I shut it. I started to walk backwards before I collided with someone else's back.

"Woah, sorry." I turned around but all anxiety left as I saw who I'd collided with. Will smiled at me, his open dress-shirt telling me that he'd hooked up with whoever lived across the hall from my one-night-stand. What a coincidence.

"Good shag?" I teased, making him smirk and jokingly nudge my shoulder as we started to walk along the hallway and towards the lift.

"Aye, she was alright, like. What about you?" he asked.

"Yeah, he was decent. He looked like you." I admitted, looking up to gauge the reaction of my best friend and crush. He raised his eyebrows and smirked as he looked at me.

"You trying to tell is something, like?" he laughed. Yes.

"You wish." I smirked and shook my head, making him laugh again as we got into the lift and the doors closed. I sighed and bit my lip, pondering how fucked up this situation truly was when I really thought about it. I had always been very open with my sexuality and wasn't afraid of sleeping with multiple people, hence why I would end up sleeping with potentially five or six different people in a week. Before, this hadn't been an issue for me, the issue came with the fact that I used that to try and forget about my crush on Will. What a cliché, falling for my best mate and flatmate, but it had happened. Will was equally as promiscuous, our body counts put together often entering double figures in a good week. I often wondered if Will also slept with so many people for the same reason that I did, but I often squashed that line of thinking as it usually led to me thinking about the guy that I was in love with fucking some other girl. Obviously not a thought that I wanted in my head.

"You fancy grabbing something on the way home for brekkie?" he asked as he looked down at me, the height difference between us staggering since my heels were in my hands and not on my feet.

"Aye, I could use a morning Greggs or something." I nodded.

"You and your fuckin' Greggs." He smiled, making me return it as the lift doors opened on the ground floor. Suddenly, Will's hand joined to mine and he intertwined our fingers, making my heart jump in my chest. I looked down and smiled, trying to hide my blushed cheeks as we left the building and started to head home.

Will and I sat on the sofa, my legs over his lap and his hand resting on my thigh as we both sat absentmindedly watching the show that was on TV. Suddenly, my phone buzzed on the table, making both mine and Will's eyes flick to look at it. My eyebrows furrowed as I picked it up and studied the text from the unknown number.

Unknown: Hey, it's Kyle, the guy that you woke up to this morning lol :). Just wanted to say again how amazing you were last night. Yeah. You're amazing :).

My eyes widened slightly as I sat up, making Will look at me.

"You alright, Y/N?" he chuckled, his spare hand moving to wrap around my waist so that he could support me sitting up whilst still having my legs over his lap.

"Yeah, I just...have you ever had a one-night-stand actually text you the next morning?" I asked as I looked at him. His eyes widened and his lips slowly curled into a smile.

"Oh my god, that lad texted you, didn't he?" he laughed. I sighed and looked back at my phone.

"I don't even remember giving him my number, but I guess that I did." I sighed before unlocking my phone. Will's eyes widened slightly.

"Wait, Y/N, you're not actually texting him back, are you?" he scoffed. I looked at him.

"Why not? He was a good enough shag, a date or two wouldn't hurt." I shrugged.

"You what? Since when are you one for commitment?" he asked.

"Since when do you care, Will?" I retorted. His eyes widened and he opened his mouth to speak, but obviously thought better of whatever he was going to say as he paused.

"I-I don't, I just want to look out for yis, want to make sure that you're safe. That's all." He shrugged. I sighed and looked at him before glancing back down to my phone.

"It'll probably only end up being one date, two at the most. It's not like I'll end up marrying the lad." I chuckled as I texted back, Will returning the chuckle half-heartedly.

"Yeah. Like that'll happen." He nodded, making me give him a small smile as we continued to watch TV.

Will's P.O.V

Y/N's eyes widened slightly as she read the text that had just pinged on her phone and sat up, making Will look at the beautiful girl.

"You alright, Y/N?" he chuckled, his spare hand moving to wrap around her waist so that he could support her sitting up whilst still having her legs over his lap. Ultimately it was just an excuse for him to hold her close to him, but he knew that she didn't mind.

"Yeah, I just...have you ever had a one-night-stand actually text you the next morning?" she asked as she looked at him. His eyes widened and his lips slowly curled into a smile.

"Oh my god, that lad texted you, didn't he?" he laughed. Y/N sighed and looked back at her phone.

"I don't even remember giving him my number, but I guess that I did." she sighed before unlocking her phone. Will's eyes widened slightly.

"Wait, Y/N, you're not actually texting him back, are you?" he scoffed. After all, it was all fun and games until Y/N found a one-night-stand that she actually wanted to date, which would get rid of Will's chance to be able to ask her out himself. She looked at him.

"Why not? He was a good enough shag, a date or two wouldn't hurt." She shrugged.

"You what? Since when are you one for commitment?" he asked. He knew that he sounded like a bit of a dick, but he didn't have the courage yet to make a move, and so if he could put her off getting with another lad and potentially save her heartbreak in the same action as buying himself a bit more time, he'd do it.

"Since when do you care, Will?" She retorted. His eyes widened and he opened his mouth to speak, but thought better of the fact that he was about to admit that he was in love with the girl.

"I-I don't, I just want to look out for yis, want to make sure that you're safe. That's all." He shrugged, trying to lie his way out of having to explain why he was so against her seeing this other guy. She sighed and looked at him before glancing back down to her phone.

"It'll probably only end up being one date, two at the most. It's not like I'll end up marrying the lad." Y/N chuckled as she texted back, Will returning the chuckle half-heartedly.

"Yeah. Like that'll happen." He nodded, making her give him a small smile as the pair continued to watch TV.

Y/N's P.O.V

"I'm home!" I yelled as I shut the door, puffing out a breath as I immediately took off my heels.

"I'm in the living room!" Will shouted back, making me grateful that I lived with my best friend. I walked into the living room, giving Will a small smile and having one returned as I walked.

"How was it?" he asked as I sat down on the sofa next to him, and his hand immediately cupped my waist.

"Eh. I very quickly got reminded of why I had sex with him and then tried to leave quickly. Am not seeing him again." I chuckled and shook my head, making Will nod and look at me.

"Y/N, can I talk to ya? You going on the date made me realise that I want ya to know something." He nodded. My eyebrows furrowed as I looked at him.

"Course, Will, you know that you can tell is anything." I shook my head. He gulped, his stunning blue eyes briefly looking at my lips before flicking up to look me in the eyes.

"I like ya. I really do, and not like a best friend, as in I want you to be my girlfriend." He admitted. My eyes widened at his words.

"And I know that we both sleep around a lot, but the truth is that I only do that to try and get my mind off of you. I know that that's such a cliché, fuck, this whole situation is, but I don't care. And, I don't know, the fact that you went on a date with a one-night-stand made me realise that I needed to tell you this before I lost you to someone else. It's fine if you don't feel the same, but I felt like I needed to tell ya." He nodded, his stunning blue eyes darting to look at my eyes so that he could gauge my response. I gulped, my brain trying to process what he had just said as my heart screamed at me to tell him that I felt the same. My heart won.

"Will, I like you too. More than a best friend, I want you to be my boyfriend too. Fuck, everything that you said applies to me too, how crazy is that?" I chuckled, making his eyes widen. He laughed and nodded, his smile showing me just how relieved he was that I had reciprocated his feelings.

"Not as crazy as us being best mates and living together for a whole three years before we finally say this shit. God, I should have said something sooner." He chuckled. I shook my head and gently took his face into my hands, making him look at me with a gentle smile on his lips.

"It's okay." I reassured, making his smile widen as he leant in and gently pressed our lips together. I returned it immediately, holding the boy's face in my hands whilst his hands moved to my waist. He broke the kiss and touched our foreheads, making us laugh and smile as we looked at each other.

"So, lass, will you be me girlfriend?" he asked quietly. I nodded and bit my lip, both of the smiles staying on our faces as he leant in and joined our lips again.
