Chapter 4- Miyako
Double chapter weekend!!!

Surprise
Fluff
Dazai had managed to leave the house thirty minutes past the time he needed to be at work. No matter what, he was going to be late since I doubted he goes straight to the Armed Detective Agency from here.
That wasn't my problem at the moment and honestly not my worry. I had the day off since I had returned from a business trip out of the country. Usually, I do things that relaxed me and kept me calm so I would have no trouble getting to sleep tonight.
Since Dazai had moved in, that's somehow more possible and impossible at the same time. We had fallen into a routine since living together, one I enjoyed, and missed on my trip.
I usually got home later than Dazai, but I was the one to normally cook us dinner, other than Mondays and Fridays when we ordered in.
But that's how I ended up in the shopping district, looking for something I could make for dinner tonight. I wanted to make something special for Dazai, so I figured why not make something with crab.
I walked past a few shops, looking down at the list I had on my phone of the things I needed to get.
"Let's see, I need both snow crab and king crab. We have rice at home, but it hurt to get some more, and I need to get some soy sauce." I turned off the screen and slipped my phone into my pocket.
I readjusted the bags on my wrist back into my hand, other things we needed for the house, as I continued towards seafood market.
After purchasing the crabs and soy sauce, I began making my way home. While walking I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Pulling it out, I saw a text from Tachihara.
[Young Guns]: You've been gone for two weeks, plus a day off!? You owe me two rounds tomorrow night!
I rolled my eyes, smiling at my best friend's behavior.
[Chuuya]: Yeah, yeah. You know, sometimes I wonder if that bandage on your nose isn't too tight.
I received a reply a moment later.
[Young Guns]: Just barely back home and he's got jokes! Either way, drinking with just Gramps is a little lonely.
I frowned, still walking as I sent him another message.
[Chuuya]: What about Kajii? You could have asked him to join you.
His reply was quick.
[Young Guns]: There's a reason we're banned from a few of the Port Mafia owned bars.
That explained a lot actually. When we first started drinking together, he declined a few of the bars I suggested. If I had to guess, I'd say Kajii had something to do with that.
"Excuse me, sir?" I heard from behind me. I stopped, turning around to look t the woman.
"Can I help with something?" I asked, slipping my phone back into my pocket.
She smiled, it was bright and happy, maybe a little too much so. "I was wondering if you happened to be a parent? I run a website for parenting advice and tips to help take care of your-"
I held up my hand to stop her. "Yeah, that all good and well, but I'm not a parent and don't plan on being one any time soon."
The woman continued to smile. "Oh, most people that say that usually end up as parents to a beautiful child not too long after." She pulled a card from her pocket. "Here is my website. For all you know, parenthood could be just around the corner!"
I took the card and looked down at it. "Yeah, I doubt it, but thanks for the fire-" I looked up, noticing that the woman had disappeared, "-fuel."
That was bizarre. Who was that lady and why was she talking to me about parenthood? I looked down at card again. Nothing but a web link was printed on a pink card, which definitely didn't scream sketchy.
I slipped it into my pocket anyway, pulling my phone back out and pressing the call button on Tachihara's contact.
I pressed the phone to my ear and continued on as the line picked up.
"What, was texting not good enough for you, Chuuya?" Tachihara laughed.
I rolled my eyes, "I just had the weirdest thing happen to me."
"What sort of weird? Like your boyfriend weird or-?"
I shook my head even though he couldn't see me. "Nothing beats Dazai's weirdness." I turned around the corner, walking across the street before the color changed. "Some lady had stopped me asking me if I had kids."
The sound of something metallic was in the background as he answered, "I mean, there are times where you give the vibe. Maybe she just sensed it from you."
"Maybe." I chose not to comment on the parent vibe thing. "But she was damn persistent on me possibly becoming one."
"Maybe she was flirting?" He didn't even sound convinced. "But that does sound pretty weird and shady."
I walked up from the sidewalk to the entrance gate of the house, pushing it open and heading for the front door. Balancing my phone between my head and shoulder, I dug my keys from my pocket and unlocked the door.
Pushing open the door, I was greeted with an odd sound that I had never heard in this house.
Crying. Not just any type but the sound of a baby's cry.
"Hey, Michizou, I'll call you back." Hanging up before he could answer. I entered the house, not bothering to take my shoes off as I set everything down on the counter between the dining room and kitchen.
The cries were coming from in the house but why? I started walking slowly down the hall towards the bedroom as the cries and whines got louder.
I pushed open the bedroom door, the sound intensifying. My eyes widened as they landed on the bed.
Wrapped in a purple blanket was a baby with little wisps of red hair on their head. The blanket had come undone and I could see how type the little thing was.
I quickly walked over to the baby, fixing the blanket so it wrapped around the tiny figure as well as coming to the conclusion that it was a girl, but also a newborn.
I picked her up, being careful at supporting her as I gently bounced her, holding her against my chest. Soon her cries died down and room became quiet again.
I didn't know what to think. I was holding a newborn baby in my house. How did she get here? Why was she here? Who's baby was she?
I didn't have any answers to anything but I did have a bit of experience with babies since Kouyou made me take a class for taking care of them for a mission.
I rocked her, eventually I could feel the soft raising and falling of her chest. I stepped towards the bed and carefully laid her down.
I grabbed my phone and found Kouyou's number and dialing it. I walked into the bathroom while it rang, keeping the door ajar so I watch her but not too loud to disturb her.
"Hello, lad, what can I do for you?" Kouyou answered, her tone happy to be hearing from me.
She was definitely not expecting this call. "Hey, what should I do if I find a baby alone in my home?"
There was a pause. She was definitely not expecting this call.
"Chuuya, did you find a baby in your house?" She sounded baffled.
"Uh, the answer is yes but I have no idea how she got here and from the looks of it, she's a newborn." I looked at her through the door. "She was crying when I got home and I managed to put her to sleep, but I don't know what to do."
I ran my fingers through my hair. "I thought about taking her to Dazai and file a report for abandonment but I'm not sure how I'm going to explain fining her here."
The next voice from on the other side of the line wasn't Kouyou's but the boss's. "I would wait on doing that. If you'd like, you can bring her in and we can run a DNA test to see who her parents are. Nothing too complicated, just small blood sample to run through our database to see if they live in Yokohama."
I frowned, pushing open the door and walking back to the baby as she slept in her blanket. "Is there a different way that doesn't involve poking her with a needle?"
I heard the boss chuckle. "You sound like a mother, Chuuya." I could hear Kouyou chuckle a bit at that too, which annoyed me. "But yes, I can swab her gums and use her saliva instead, if you prefer that."
"I do," I said, fighting the sudden urge to reach down and fix the blanket even though she was still covered. "I can't drive so I'll be there as soon as I can."
"I'll wait for you at the entrance, lad," Kouyou commented, getting ready to to probably hang out.
"Wait! Kouyou, do you think you can get someone to go to the store and get some formula, a bottle, and some diapers? I would hate for her to cry and not be able to change or feed her."
Kouyou giggled, "Of course, lad."
I sighed with relief. "Thanks," I said before hanging up and looking down at the baby. Never in my life did I ever think I would walk into the Port Mafia headquarters with a baby.
I bent down, picking her up gently. "Come on, little one, we're going to the doctor."
*****
A walk that would take me about forty-five minutes, took me about an hour and a half while carrying her. Driving while holding her would have been irresponsible and using my ability would have had too aggressive of landings for her tiny, fragile body.
I walked in through the front entrance, being met with Kouyou and Higuchi, who held a purple bag in her hands with a little unicorn on it.
"Congratulations on the child, sir!" Higuchi greeted, holding out the bag to me. "I was asked to retrieve a few essentials so I called my sister to ask what I needed to probably get!"
I cocked an eyebrow, looking at Kouyou because addressing the blonde. "Like what?"
She smiled, unzipping the bag and looking in. "I had asked what a newborn baby girl may need for a few hours so I got diapers, baby wipes, baby powder, formula that said that it was light on the stomach, two different bottles, and these two cute little onesies that were on sale!"
"And a few other things," Kouyou added with a smug smile, knowing what she did.
I nodded, taking the bag as Higuchi extended it to me. "Thanks, can we go see the boss now?"
"Of course, lad." Kouyou looked at Higuchi, "Thank you for retrieving those for us."
"It was my pleasure!" She beamed before bowing and walking away.
We headed for the elevator. "Out of anyone you could have gotten, you got Higuchi to get them?" I asked as we rode the elevator.
The little one stirred a bit but not waking, so I began rocking her until she settled back down.
"She was available. Ogai thought it best to have a higher ranked member retrieve them." Kouyou smiled as she looked at me. "You've always been good with children but it would seem you're already becoming attached after a short time."
Kouyou's eyes shifted down to the baby. "As is she."
I frown, looking down and seeing what she meant. The little one had gotten one of her arms out of the blanket, a tiny fist was clinching my t-shirt. She was holding onto me while she slept, her little body so small and fragile.
I couldn't help but feel the need to hold her safe, like she'll break if I hand her to anyone or set her down. Why though? After we get the DNA back, I'm taking her to Dazai and filing an abandonment report on the parents as well as breaking and entering.
I was a criminal but that didn't mean I did everything illegally.
The elevator came to a stop on the top floor. When the doors opened, two men with tommy guns stood there pointing their guns.
I heard Kouyou groan. "Can't you see we have a baby with us? Lower your weapons at once."
They did as told before bowing and apologizing. We walked out of the elevator and down the hallway until approaching a set of double doors with two more men in front of it.
They opened the doors immediately as we got to them, allowing us to enter. The boss was standing next to his desk with his doctor uniform on while Elise sat in his chair.
There was a small machine on the desk and another two chairs next in front as well as- a car seat? The padding was pink with stars and clouds.
Elise looked up as we got closer, eyes shining. "Rintaro, Chuuya brought the baby!"
The boss smiled as he turned towards us. "Yes, I see. How's your day off, Chuuya?"
"Considering I still had to come in and I'm not even getting paid for it, I could be better."
He chuckled, "Well, this shouldn't be long. I just need to swab her gums and run it through this machine and it should send the results to the computer."
I arched an eyebrow. "New Mori Corp. technology?"
"Indeed, we tested it with several of our agents and all results have been positive," he beamed, proud of his company advancements.
"I see, so how are we doing this?" I moved the chairs so they faced each other. I sat in on of the before laying her down on the other one.
I unzipped the diaper bag and pulled out a diaper and the baby wipes and one of the onesies that Higuchi had mentioned grabbing. It might be a little big on her but it'll keep her warm.
I unwrapped her, keeping the blanket under her as I put the diaper on her. She surprisingly hadn't hasn't wet herself which was odd for a baby her size. I put the onesie on her as her eyes began opening up.
I couldn't help but look into them. They were dark brown but became a softer color as the iris got close to the pupil. That were kind of like Dazai's eyes in a way.
"I'll need you to support her head as I do this," the boss instructed as he walked over with a cotton swab.
He directed me on what I needed to do and eventually was able to get some saliva from her gums. He put swab into a small glass tube with some clear liquid in it before putting it into the machine.
"After this you may do with the information as you wish but this normally takes about an hour to get the results due to it searching through several different possible-"
I loud chime went off from the computer, scaring the little one. She started crying again, her tiny hands in fists.
I picked her up and cradling her in my arms to calm her down as the boss looked at the computer.
"That was fast, I thought it had to search through different people with similar codes?" Kouyou asked from behind the boss's desk where she sat in his chair.
"It's possible that her parents could be unique." He looked at the computer screen, reading what it said. His eyes widened a bit. "They are unique indeed."
With the little one calmed down, I stood from the chair, still rocking her. "Unique how?"
He turned to look at me, an unreadable expression on his face. "Chuuya, this child belongs to you."
My eyes widened, completely dumbstruck. What? How?
"I thought you were only into men?" Kouyou looked over at me questioningly.
I looked at her. "The only person I've ever been with sexually is Dazai, and I haven't woke up in some strange place with anyone in the last nine or ten months."
Her eyebrows knitted together, confused. "What does that have to do with this? It's possible that you could have not stayed the night."
I felt my face heat up and I could see the sadist glint in her eyes at it. "It's impossible because I'm always too tired after sex and I usually want to cuddle." This was starting to sound like an interrogation of my love life.
I looked at the boss who was just standing there, smiling. It wasn't a creepy smile, there were to many sparkles, so why was he so happy looking?
"What?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing! I just like to hear that you and Dazai get along so well after I had partnered you up!" He beamed. His eyes met mine, his smile becoming a bit more smug. "Especially since he's the other parent of that baby."
My jaw dropped. What? "How is that possible? Isn't there supposed to be a female somewhere in the process of creating a baby?"
"Usually, yes, but in this case, it's only the two of you. No one else."
"That's peculiar, I've never heard of an offspring of only just two men before. Do you really think there is no third person here?" Kouyou had got up from her seat and was now standing next to the boss, looking at the computer screen.
"If there were anyone else, it would have shown up, which means it's possible that she could be a creation of biochemistry." The boss explained, losing me and I was already confused as it was.
I looked down at the little one in my arms, her tiny fist once again holding my shirt. Her belonging to Dazai and me did explain the orange wisps of hair like mine and the brown eyes that looked like Dazai's.
She opened her mouth in a little yawn. Her feet kicking as she looked up at me, eyes holding me to look at her. She was pretty cute, I had to admit that.
"Chuuya, what do you plan to do now? The child is technically yours so are you planning on giving her away?" Kouyou was next to me, looking down at the tiny one.
She was technically mine but that also means that she was technically Dazai's too. So, shouldn't he have a say in the decision?
"I'm going to wait for Dazai to get home and talk with him about it first. If this is our baby, I want him to be involved in the decision of what to do with her." I supported her in one arm, bringing my other hand down in front of her. She grabbed my index finger, holding on as she continued to look at me.
I couldn't help the smile that crossed my face at the gesture. It's something I've never thought I'd get to experience, holding a newborn in my arms that belonged to me. There was something about that that made me want to tear up.
"Seems logical, though Dazai never seemed like the raising kids kind of person," the boss stated, hands in the pockets of his lab coat. "But he's also a difficult book to read, so who's to say?"
"Yeah." I rocked her, watching as she lets out another little yawn and turning her face into my chest.
"I'll have Hirotsu drive you home. You now have a car seat for her and even have a small bed for to sleep in until you reach a decision."
"You guys got really excited about this for some reason." I stood from my chair as Elise walked over and picked up the car seat with a little bit of a struggle and placing it on the chair in front of me.
I slid the little one into it carefully before fastening her in, putting the purple blanket over her. She didn't seem happy that I was putting her down because there was a pout forming on her face.
"Make her a bottle before going, she'll probably be hungry here soon." Kouyou suggested which was probably a good idea.
After making her bottle, Kouyou followed us down to garage where Hirotsu was waiting.
"I never took you for a babysitter," he said, his expression remaining calm as usual.
I sighed, "Babysitter is an understatement in this case."
Getting to his car, I placed her in the backseat, the back of the car seat against the back of the driver's seat. I got in the back with her, so that I could feed her on the way home.
Hirotsu helped me carry the small bed into the house as I carried the little one in. It was already 6:36 and Dazai usually is home by 8.
After thanking Hirotsu for his help and asking him not to bring it up to Tachihara, I got decided to go ahead a put the small bed together so she could sleep comfortably.
I changed her and laid her down on Dazai and my blanket that we used when cuddling in the living room. She seemed so happy laying on it.
While she slept I put together the bed in the floor of the bedroom. After some time, it was finished and set up next to my side of the bed.
I did have to admit that after only a couple of hours, I had gotten a little attached to her. I mean, she was adorable and small, fragile even. It seemed almost like it was natural to hold her in my arms, to cradle her.
She was still asleep when I got off the floor. Maybe I should make her a bottle for when she wakes up.
Slowly and quietly, I opened the door. I left it open as I walked down the hallway to the living room where I left the bag with her stuff. I got the formula, measuring out the water to make her a bottle before adding the powder.
I started to shake it, mixing it together. I knew how to take care of babies, I've done it before so making bottles like this almost became a talent over that short time.
I heard her starting to get fussy, so I made my way back to the bedroom, bring the diaper bag with me. I set the bottle on the nightstand before walking over to her and grabbing the things I needed to change her.
I cleaned her and put a new diaper on her, putting the onesie back on her. I tossed the dirty diaper into the trash and picked her up and cuddling her on her back in my arms.
"There now you're a clean little girl," I cooed at her. I saw as her lips widened into a grin after I had talked to her. She seemed to like it. "You like when I talk to you, don't you?"
I walked over and grabbed her bottle, placing the nipple to her lips to feed her which she agreed to happily. I rocked her as I slowly started walking down the hall again.
She liked me holding her, probably sensing me as her parent. That could also be why I'm feeling drawn to her as well, parental instincts, I guess.
"You're just a hungry little thing, aren't you? Yeah, you are." I smiled down at her as she drank, her brown eyes looking into mine, so bright and filled with light.
"Chuuya?" My head shot up, meeting the same eyes but from a different person. The shifted from mine to the little one in my arms.
I hadn't even noticed that Dazai had unlocked the door and walked in, I was too focused on the baby.
"Dazai, hey, um," I had no idea what to say to him, so I went with something causal. "Welcome home!"
He nodded, his eyes still on the baby. "Chuuya, love, if you wanted a baby, you could have asked instead of stealing one."
I scowled at him. He sees me holding an infant and his first thought is that I stole her?
"I didn't steal her, jackass!" I growled as best I could without scaring the little one. "I found her in the bedroom after coming home from shopping today."
Dazai arched an eyebrow. "In our bedroom?" When I nodded, he continued. "How though? You never leave anything unlocked when you leave. I should know as many times as I broke into this place."
"That's what I'd like to know." The baby moved around in my arms, a little whine coming from her. I looked down, removing the bottle from her mouth and setting it on the counter.
I repositioned her so her head laid on my shoulder and I began patting her on the back, trying to get her to burp.
Dazai watched all this as he removed his coat, hanging it up, before walking over to me.
"Am I still allowed a welcome home kiss?" He asked, stopping in front of me.
I smiled, unable to help the warm help feeling I always get when we kiss or touch. "You got to be careful not to squish her but sure."
He smiled, leaning down as I leaned up, our lips meeting halfway. It was a quick press of lips but felt so amazing at the same time.
When he pulled back, he had almost a sad smile on his face. "You've gotten attached already, haven't you?"
I rested my cheek against the little ones head as I frowned. "Maybe."
Dazai placed his hands on my elbows. "Chuuya, we can't keep her. For all we know, she may have been kidnapped and her parents may be worried sick."
I licked my lips before taking a deep breath. It was time to tell him. "Her parents just met her today."
Dazai tilted his head. "She's a newborn, sweetheart, my guess is she was taken from the hospital."
I shook my head. "No, I mean-" I cut myself off. Damn it, I needed to come out and just say it. "We're her parents, Osamu."
Dazai's eyes widened, his expression baffled. "What?"
I took a deep breath. "She was created from you and I. Somehow, our DNA was put together and made her. The boss ran a DNA test on her."
"Hold on, you left Mori alone with a baby girl?"
"Oh, fuck no, I didn't let her out of my sight once while we were there," I answered quickly. I could feel the little one's soft breathing. She was asleep.
Dazai wiped a hand down his face, probably trying to understand what I was trying to say to him.
"Okay, so this baby is-" he pointed between the both of us, "our offspring?"
"Yes, technically."
"And we have no idea where she came from or who put her in our bedroom?" I nodded, moving towards the living room to sit on the couch.
Dazai followed behind me. "Chuuya, you do realize that you have been bonding with this her like a mother would do, right?"
I repositioned her so I was cradling her in my arms again. "I know but I can't help it. Every time she seems uncomfortable or is upset, I just want to do something about it and see her little smile."
I looked at Dazai as he squatted down in front of me. He reaches out and ran his knuckles over her cheek softly. She reacted to his touch, her head leaning towards it in her sleep.
He smiled. "She looks like a little Chuuya." His eyes met mine. "She's a chibi Chibi."
I glared at him. "That arm of yours isn't fully healed, Dazai Osamu."
He hummed, "How was it walking around Yokohama sore?"
I rolled my eyes. "Anyway, let's get back on topic here." I looked at him as he sat on the floor, his arms folding on my legs with his head being laid on top of them as he looked at her.
We were supposed to make a decision together. We were supposed to figure out what was going to happen to her. We were needing to do this together but what came out of my mouth shocked even me.
"I'm keeping her." It felt like the right choice, the right decision after taking care of her all day.
If I was shocked by my words, Dazai's were like electrocution. "Then I guess we're parents now." I looked at him, excitement filling my body as he smiled up at me. "Though weren't you the one that said that you couldn't get pregnant?"
"You know, I could always raise her myself," I growled lowly as to not awaken the baby girl that slept in my arms.
Dazai pouted. "But I want help you raise her, Chibi. She's of my DNA too, making her my daughter as much as yours."
Our daughter. After everything that Dazai and I had been through, we were finally able to be together. Both our companies now knew of our relationship and even accepted it. But even after all of it, the last thing I expected was to become a parent with him.
I looked at Dazai who was completely mesmerized by the child. I couldn't help the smile that crossed my face. The sight was photographed into my memory, however, there was another sight I wanted to see.
"Do you want to hold her, Osamu?" I asked, holding her forward slightly. His eyes sparkled as he sat up and gently slide his arms under mine. I laid her in his arms as he folded them arm her, holding her against his chest.
His hand was supporting her small head as he slowly stood up off the floor and sat next to me on the couch. He gently rocked her, smiling at the her movements.
I was a sight to behold. I moved closer to him and leaned my head on his shoulder as ran my fingers up and down her soft arm.
"Have you named her yet?" Dazai asked quietly as he rested his head on top of mine.
I hummed. "I was waiting to see if you wanted to be a part of raising her before naming her." I turned my head so my face was against his arm. "Did you have something in mind?"
He chuckled, "No, I was just curious of what we were calling our bundle of joy here."
Several possible names came to mind but for some reason only one really stuck with me.
"How about Miyako?" I looked up at him.
He seemed to think on it. "Miyako? Is there any reason why you like that name?"
"It means beautiful and she is a beautiful little thing." I rested my head back on his shoulder, looking at the baby. "And besides, I like the sound of Dazai Miyako, don't you?"
"Dazai? You want her to have my name" He repeated more than questioned.
"Well, I figured it was only fitting considering you are the dominant one in the relationship." I felt my face heat up, "It's like if we were to ever get married, I would want to take Dazai instead of keeping Nakahara."
He seemed, taken back before smiling and letting out a light amused huff. "Dazai Miyako. I like it." He pressed a kiss to the top of my head. "We officially have a family now, baby."
I smiled. A family. Our family.
They're parents now! I have had the naming scene written since like chapter five of the first book because I knew there was going to be a second book!
Yes, this was a double chapter weekend because I had finished the previous chapter early and started on this one and it finished pretty early because I was too excited to stop writing.
There are still more surprises to come in this story, so prepared! There will be some time skips too, let Dazai and Chuuya get use to parenthood a bit.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. I have some more story plot to figure put now!😄
