WYLMB Chapter #4

- Sam's Point of View (POV)-
(Just like I promised in the last chapter!)

"Wake up sleepy head. Wake up sleepy head. Wake up..." My alarm clock went off in a monotonous manner.

Hey, don't judge ok. I love waking up to my sexy voice every day. It keeps me awake for the rest of the day.

Ok fine.

For someone who has trouble waking up every day, that method works wonders.

Dragging myself out of bed the first thing I did was to stand in front of the mirror and...

Flex my glorious muscles. Yup.

You must be wondering why I do that. Well, as a popular icon in school, I have to keep myself well maintained and sexy for everyone else to see and drool for me.

Especially Jess.

INNER THOUGHT SAYS WHAT?

I can't believe I just... Admitted it? No, I can't be true, I was just doing both Jess and myself a favour. For the sake of both of us. Nothing more, nothing less.

But can it stay that way?

Yes, it can stay that way. Hell, it must stay that way no matter what happens!!

Now, you must be thinking, "Favor? What kind of deal have you guys made?" Well, it is not really possible for me to easily agree and play along with such a deal like my fake relationship with Jess. Therefore, besides our fake relationship deal, I may or may have another main motive behind this whole deal, that made me come up with this whole 'fake relationship' thing.

So do allow me to keep you guys updated so you will be on the same page as me.

And my motives.

If you guys don't know by now, Jake and I are one of the most popular kids on the campus. But a few years ago? Huh, you guys will never have imagined what we were a few years back.

-FLASHBACK TO A FEW YEARS AGO-

"Still no hope?" I said while changing into my football gear and getting ready for yet another training of the week.

"It is really no use Sam, there is no possible way that she is even going to notice me. I've tried almost everything! This is not going to work!" my best buddy sigh in frustration as he comb through his thick brunette hair, as he lean against on of the lockers.

"Come on, it is not like she is the only girl in the universe! With your looks, I am sure you can go for higher standards! Hell, all the girls will be swooning for you! I don't understand why you have such low standards. She isn't even that pretty. Even I wouldn't want her."I replied nonchalantly.

And before I knew it, I was slammed onto one of the many lockers in the male changing room, the sound of metal rattling echoed through the whole now deadly silent room.

"Don't you dare insult her or me like that! You may be my best friend, but that is not something I am able to tolerate!" Jake spitted out while holding me firmly onto the locker doors with his right arm on my throat.

"Hey, ok ok fine! Chill bro, no need to become all physical and violent!" I said as Jake loosen his grip on me and walking away as I fixed my now creased shirt.

"Hey man sorry I just.. Couldn't control my feelings, you know, the norm," Jake walked back to me as he hugged me while patting my back, "You are alright, right? Really sorry man... We cool?"

See? Told you! I win! And now you owe me a soda.

Nah, just kidding!

"Yeah, I understand bro, no offence taken, don't worry ya?" I returned the gesture. "But man, this issue really cannot persist any longer! I need to find a way to fix it for you man!"

"You've got an idea?" Jake asked, both confusion and excitement sparkling in his eyes.

"Of course," I replied smirking.

"We will become the popular kids in school."

-END OF FLASHBACK-

So from then on, me and Jake strived hard in football and in school, trying all sort of means to become famous. And alas, a few years later, not only have we became famous, we even became the player of the school.

Well, only Jake is the player, not me. I wasn't in the same situation as he is.

Even though Jake doesn't spell it out personally, but I still know that he still has a crush on that girl after so many years.

You must me feeling very frustrated and really want to know who that mysterious girl is.

Simple. The girl is Jess.

Surprised? If I were you, I will feel the same way as well.

But the problem that we are facing now is that we are having fun. In fact, too much fun. And judging by Jess' personality, she probably doesn't like players. But Jake is not that person that is willing to give up all the fame he painfully accumulated over the course of years just for the sake of one simple and hard-to-get girl when he can get one different girl every other day. Therefore, he is trying to numb his feelings for Jess by having new, different girls everyday. He try's to conceal and convince me otherwise, but I highly doubt that is working though.

Better luck next time, buddy.

Here comes another problem. Ever since Jake have gotten his fame, no doubt he is the more popular one because of several reason, and mainly because of his looks. And it is as if I am always lower than him no matter how hard I tried. Hey, don't get me wrong, we are still best buddies and Jake have never ever once despised me, but it is just a feeling in my heart, you know?

Sometimes I just want to bring him down, and for once, make me feel more superior than him.

Just for once.

And how I am going to do that? I am sure that you guys are smart enough to guess it already my friends. Of course, using the one and only,

Jessica Anne Norman.

Bringing me back to reality, I smirked to myself as I get ready for school.

This is going to become so much fun.

- AT SCHOOL -

"Yo bro, what's up!" Jake walked towards me, as we did our usual gesture that consists of a fist pump and a pat on the back.

As I did that, I saw someone strolling past. A smirk tugged on my lips.

"Nah, nothing much, oh and Jake, allow me to introduced you to somebody yeah?" I said as I dragged him along with me to someone who is now still strolling towards her locker, not knowing what is going to happen to her in a matter of seconds.

"Babe, hold on!" I shouted for Jess, and everybody in the hall froze and became deadly silent. Besides me, I could feel Jake stiffen too. No doubt, Jess, too, froze on her spot before hesitantly spinning around to face me and Jake.

"Jake, I would like for you to officially meet my new girlfriend, Jessica Norman."

And with that, the color drained from both Jess' and Jake's faces as they stare at each other.

This whole ordeal is only going to get only more fun as time pasts!
