        LOOK, NO ONE WANTS TO BE A HALF-BLOOD. You already know it, every half-blood knows it, and Silviana Duvall certainly knows it. She is no exception to the large group of demigods that are averse to the idea of actually being a demigod. But in all honesty, her opinion on the matter doesn't have much to do with what you may think—that she's afraid of the danger, tired of the constant risks, or dissatisfied with how much of her life she truly has to give up (although all of those factors definitely aren't helping make the whole "demigod" thing more approachable).

        No. Sylvie is just one of the shittiest demigods alive.

        It wasn't self-deprecation, or anything. Sylvie was just genuinely convinced that if Camp Half-Blood took a vote on who they thought should be kicked out of camp, the winner would unanimously be her. It would be the first and only thing Sylvie would ever win in her life.

        Sylvie swears that she really does try to get the hang of things. Really. It's just that, along with being a half-blood, she is also one of the most clumsiest people alive. Her list of accidents is seemingly endless: accidentally shooting her half-brother in the foot with an arrow, strangling Percy Jackson with vines when he passed the strawberry fields for the first time because she was so flustered at the sight of him, capturing her own team's flag in Capture the Flah, blah blah blah... The point is: Being a proper demigod? Yeah, Sylvie can't do it.

        Her eldest half-sister, Eurydice, tries to tell Sylvie that she's capable of much more—that if only Sylvie would stop worrying so much in her head, and maybe grow some confidence instead of puny wildflowers in her spare time, then maybe she could be a half-blood that was worth anyone's time. But that idea was basically a big fat no for Sylvie. She was not keen on the idea of putting herself out there and ruining everyone's lives, making them just as much of a mistake as she is.

        Okay, maybe it was a little bit of self-deprecation.

        The point is, Sylvie arrives at Camp Half-Blood for her fourth summer in hopes of laying low. Maybe this year Eurydice can teach her how to not fuck up for once, or maybe she can just chill in their cabin the whole time staying safe with her siblings. There was already too much wrong with the godly world as of late—throwing Sylvie into the mix would not be the greatest combination.

        But just with Sylvie's amazing luck (please sense the sarcasm here), Percy Jackson betrays all of Sylvie's wishes and forces her onto a quest that changes her life entirely.

        He's lucky she thinks he's cute.
