Alice walked up the Salvatore path to go see Damon. When she got to the end she heard a girls laughter and low chuckles.

A lady was running around the short hedges, with Stefan and Damon close behind her. Alices heart was struck with jealousy over Damons boyish game wishing he would do it with her instead of with the girl that clearly drooled over Stefan.

Damon saw Alice at the corner of his eye and a love-struck look was upon his face. Although Damon could have any girl he desired, The only girl he wanted was Alice. His younger brother nudged him lightly teasing Damon who after started to run over to the girl he loved.

"Alice, come over here and meet our arrival" Damon spoke staring the girl in the eyes.

"Okay," she smiled ignoring the jealous feelings that once overcome her. Damon put his hand on the girls small back and guided them over to where the dark blonde Salvatore stood staring lovingly at the women with brown hair.

"Alice this is Katherine she will be here for a while" Damon smiled towards the girl who had recently arrived. Alice could tell by her beautiful clothing that she was wealthy so she curtsied gently and smiled at Katherine. Katherine looked at the girl Damon had brought over and noticed straight away Damon's starstruck eyes looking at Alice in admiration. Katherine raised her eyebrow in suspicion but quickly covered it with a fake sweet smile.

Alice noticed immediately the fake innocence Katherine used which was clearly fooling everyone around her, Alice didn't know why she was acting weird but she was going to find out. Katherine excused herself before saying anything to Alice. Stefan glanced at the girl stood beside Damon and smiled "happy birthday"

"thank you Stefan" Alice spoke full of gratefulness as Stefan began to jogging over to the girl who walked away. He followed her like a lost puppy and didn't seem like his usual self but Alice brushed it of blaming it on his schoolboy crush on the mysterious brunette woman.

As Alice watched katherine she noticed her whispering to a girl who she knew as Emily Bennett from what Damon told her

"Alice I should probably keep an eye on stefan before he does something that father would punish him for" Damon looked down ashamed. Damon told Alice previously about there father and how he used to punish them when they were younger, Damon was always covering it up but Alice could always tell what he had on his mind. She grabbed his large hand and comforted him smiling up to his eyes.

"its okay, go, look after him. I'll see you tomorrow?" she questioned

"yes" he looked at the redhead girl and thought nothing but positive and romantic thoughts about her.

After Damon and Alice said goodbye to one another decided to meet the next day Alice walked back to her house. It was about dusk and the sky began to fade into a grey colour with red specks running through it. Alice opened her front door and saw her mother sat patiently on her own, on a small cushioned seat.

"mother what is wrong" Alice spoke noticing her mother's puffy red eyes and a slight bruise forming on the side of her cheek.

"nothing dear, don't worry" she sighed with tears brimming her eyes as she turned her head the other way removing the sight of her new purple and blue skin. Alice didn't want to push her mother as she respected her to much to say something to her father who would only make it worse for the both of them. Her mother walked to the side and picked up the large book with symbols on that Alice had seen from earlier that day.

"Alice, this is our families grimoire and I want you to have it to practise your magic"

"what's a grimoire?"

"it's a book full of spells from witches and every witch has one, this is a collection of all the spells my family had made, it was passed to me but now its yours."

"thank you mother, Can I go practise now?" The young eager witch question almost begging to practise her newly found skills.

"yes, but dont be out..." Alice cut her off from running out the door with a piece of the grimoire that was already falling out slightly.

There was two spells on the paper. One was a water spell that taught the Newby witch water manipulation and the second spell was something Alice did not understand, It was spell to inflict pain through bursting blood vessels, the thing that confused Alice was that it said only for supernatural beings with fast healing. Alice was filled with confusion but just focused on the water spell.

After multiple attempts at the spell she got the basics and was able to lift the water with the flick of her hand. She lifted her hand up and sprinkled the water along the grass and laughed at the little that dropped onto her dress.

"I knew you wasn't normal" Alice heard a malicious voice speak causing her to gasp and dropped the water in fear. Alice turned her head seeing a hooded Katherine hiding in the dark of the trees.

"what" Alice stuttered with her voice going slightly higher pretending to not know what the hooded woman was talking about.

"don't act dumb Alice, I know what you are" Katherine flashed in front of the young witches face making her confused of what happened.

"how did you just do that?" Alice shuddered in fear

"You'll find out soon enough" Katherine smirked grabbing Alice's arm tightly while dragging her through the trees. Despite Alice's constant whimpers and pleads for Katherine to let go, Katherine kept a firm grip on her wrist. Alice's body came to a halt as Katherine stopped and turned to her with an evil glare. Looking around, Alice could see she was in a derelict building with broken glass and dust remains on the floor.

"where are we" Alice spoke looking to the ground fearing what was about to happen

"we are at the beginning of your new life" she chuckled and pushed Alice's body down onto the ground. Alice started to cry slightly making her eyes go red. She saw a girl come out of the shadows noticing it was who Katherine was talking to at the salvatore's house who she now recognised as Emily Bennett. The Bennet woman lifted her hands in the direction of the young fox witch and started to chant words that Alice only vaguely recognized. Alice started to feel as if a heavyweight was being pressed on her chest making every breath harder.

"what's happening to me" she managed to gasp out as her breathing became harder.

"you see, I have a plan and that involves the lovely Salvatore brothers. I can't have anyone getting in my way or making it fail now can I" she bent down to the girl slightly " I couldn't kill you Alice, That would break Damon, He loves you so much so that wouldn't work.."

"Damon doesn't love me" Alice interrupted while her vision got blurry from the witch in the corner doing her spell.

"on the contrary, He may not state his affections to you but anyone who is in the near distance can sense the love in his eyes." she chuckled "as I was saying, I can't just get rid of you like that so I was left with the difficult question of what should I do with you? My good friend Emily over there is a witch and she happened to remind me of a strong witch family with the gene being passed on to every female child. what was that family you ask, well only your family"

Alice sat in confusion of the situation laying out in front of her, The girls breathing became shorter and more painful in every breath. " I can't kill you, but I can make you something better" Katherine tilted her head looking at the fragile girl struggling.

"Katherine it's time" Emily spoke coming closer to the girl who was in pain on the floor, Emily felt regret and guilt to her fellow witch but ignored it not wanting Katherine to know.

"I'll tell you the rest when you wake up in your new self but for now goodnight." Katherine's eyes became veiny as she bit her arm

"what do you mean? What are you?" Alice breathed out her last words as Katherine shoved her bloody arm into her mouth forcing her to swallow. Katherine removed her arm and looked at the girl who had little breath left.

"hmm, your so pathetic laying here right now dying. Hope your not like this when you wake up" Katherine shrugged whilst Alice had a fearful look. Before Alice's eyes closed Katherine's hands were placed around her neck snapping it hearing the cracking of bones.

"Is that it?" Katherine spoke to the witch who had witnessed it all.

"She should wake up In the morning, she will need your blood to transition in order for you to be able to compel her. She should have her powers still to"

"thank you Emily, this will be remembered" Katherine started to pick up Alice's arms dragging her to the old bed in the broken-down house. Emily sighed in relief yet she still felt guilty of what had happened.
