human life
"Alessia! Alessia!" Edward had stormed into his sisters room, the door slapped loudly against the walls behind him as he stepped into the room late at night. It was the night before the wedding and the halls of their home were filled with last minute decorators and such. It was chaotic, but in Alessia room it had been silent.
The world was slowly coming to a burn as it collapsed around them while the minutes went by and the night grew light, Alessia and Drake savored their last moments in privacy when he stormed in. Edward didn't even seem fazed by the fact a man was holding his sister in bed, barely registering as they stood up in shock.
"Edward!" Alessia jumped, thankful they hadn't gone far, her eyes snapping towards Drake who began growing pale.
"Save it, I've known for awhile you two aren't silent." He held a hand up, then pointed a finger toward the Campbell man. Determination was set on his face as he spoke, "Drake, we need to talk. Right now."
Drake felt his throat tighten, nodding his head as stumbled around the bed and away from a confused Alessia. "Yeah, sure? You want to go outside?"
"No. Right here." Edward stepped up to the man, both of them about the same height. His mouth was set in a thin line, features serious as briefly he flashed his eyes towards his younger sister who looked concerned before clearing his throat. "How much do you love my sister?"
Drakes mouth gaped open, further confused then he had been prior. He had expected to be exposed, for her brother to yell and alert everyone near them of what was happening and possibly be killed but never did he think he would be interrogated. Edwards eyes were a dark obsidian, pupils practically enveloping the rest of his eyes as he awaited a response.
"I love your sister more then I thought I could love someone, she's my whole world and I'm willing to let her go if it means she will be secure, she will be safe."
Edward surprisingly turned around, running his hands through his copper hair in desperation. "But she won't be, she won't. Tomorrow Alessia will marry the biggest asshole in Chicago all for me... for something I selfishly want. She loves you, she loves you so much and yet here I am taking her away from happiness. I've been sitting here, letting it happen but it stops right now. I won't ever let her do this to herself. Alessia has always been selfless, always watching out for me despite I being the brother but it ends now. I'll let her be happy, I'll let her runoff with you and live a life of love and adventure but I have to know. See Drake, I love my sister, she's been my best friend since birth. She's practically my whole world, the only person who has been with me through even the darkest parts of my life so you see why I can't let her go this easily. I need to know Drake, I need to know that I'll be helping her go off to someone who will love and protect her. Someone who will put up with endless questions and complaints, someone who will wake up in the middle of the night just to watch the stars like she adores, someone who will watch her even if she says not too. She loves you Drake... which means you're willing to do all these things and more but I need to hear it from you. I need to know that Alessia won't just be trapped in a cage, she will be set free to be wild... like she's always meant to be. Drake, do you think you can promise me that?"
The desperation in Edward eyes was practically written, Drake sympathized for the man as he continued to hear him. He knew Edward was protective of Alessia, it was clear every time she came into the shop and the eldest twins eyes would look back to make sure no one was watching them or when Isaac was near and he would distract the abusive man to give his sister some relief. The baker's son knew that he would be filling some big shoes but without a doubt he would gladly take the responsibility. "Edward, you have my word that I would give up my life to care for your sister. We've know each other for a few months but I don't think I've ever loved someone and it was practically killing me to know she would never be mine, that I would never be able to love her like I wanted to but if you let me I'll marry her tonight to make sure she's free. The priest is a family friend and I'm sure he will marry us. I promise you, I love her."
Edward didn't need another thought to know the man spoke the truth, in fact, he had been certain of his decision even before. He nodded, placing a hand over his friends shoulder. "I'm glad, I'll be back in ten minutes. Wait for us at the church, we will be there soon. I'm going to get her out of this house and then it's your responsibility to get her out of this town... state if you can."
Edward left the room, nodding his sisters way as he caught the tears in her eyes. Alessia had never felt her heart swell that much, her brother was willing to give up his hopes and dreams for her... and to that she was grateful. Despite her words of reassurance towards her families over the month she had never been ready to marry Isaac Park, the thought of it gave her anxiety everyday. The only clarity she found in the situation had been her brother but now to see him refusing to let her go like this... well she couldn't find words for it.
The door shut behind him, and the couple were in each other's arms right. Alessia pushed the tears away as she looked at him, "did you mean it? Did you really? Will you marry me?"
"I meant it before and I mean it now Alessia Marie Masein, I love you and I want to marry you. I know a priest... he can marry us for some money tonight. Will you still marry me?" He questioned, grasping her hands between his own.
Alessia smiled through the tears, pressing her lips against his own. "Yes! Yes I will!"
"Good, I'll see you soon Alessia. Get ready," he answered back, kissing her lips once more before letting her go and walking to her window. His smile was broad and if it hadn't have been for all the commotion going on they would of caught him, but even so he would have been a smiling fool.
Drake Campbell and Alessia Masein would be married... they would leave Chicago and be free.

"Edward, are you sure about this?" Alessia kept up with her brothers long strides, both of them hiding in the shadows and taking a long way in order not to be traced by anyone in Chicago. They were almost there, a few more turns and the lights of the church would come into view. Her heart was hammering with each step she took, hood covering her face from the cold as the eldest twin kept his arms around her tightly.
"No... I don't want to see you go Alessia, you're my best friend but I know that this is for the best. Drake and you are soulmates, he wouldn't do a thing to harm you. I have my trust in him."
"But mother? Father? What will they say or do? You, what about school?" Her questions were quick and short, low enough as to not alert anyone on the streets as the town was full of newcomers here for the weddings.
"They know, I told them everything. They wrote you some letters, I have them in my pocket. You'll hear things, things we needed to say in order to keep the family name up but I promise you none of them are true. Tomorrow everyone will wake to look for you and it'll seem like you snuck out behind our backs. As for me, I managed to get an assistant job for one of the professors... it's not much but within a year he promises I'll have a recommendation letter." He stopped her at the entrance to the church walls. Turning his sister and grasping her heart shaped face between his hands.
She leaned into his embrace, "I love you big brother. Thank you for risking this for me... I'm sorry I fell in love."
Edward smiled playfully, briefly remembering his sister as a child and noticing how much she'd aged alongside him. Despite there being a 5 minute difference between them he would always consider Alessia a baby, one of which he would die to protect. "I love you Alessia, you'll always be my best friend no matter where you go. Falling in love was always going to happen for you, you've always been wild sister... you just needed to find someone who was willing to be free like you and that's Drake. Write me wherever you go, I promise I'll write back. Let's get you married though, I promised father I would walk you down the aisle."
The pair walked into the small church, noting how there were candles lit everywhere instead of lights, keeping the secretive meeting concealed. There was only an awaiting Drake and the Priest at the end of the aisle, the former smiling brightly at his bride to be as she appeared.
Edward's grip on his sister's arm tightened slightly, glancing once more down at her only to see her attention was being given to the Campbell boy. Her smile was bright, eyes already watering. He knew that there was no doubting this marriage.
They walked down the aisle, Drake stepping down and meeting them. His eyes met Edwards who nodded his way, sliding his arm out from under his sisters. Alessia looked at her brother, emerald eyes meeting their match. Maybe this wasn't the ideal wedding everyone wanted but she was marrying the love of her life and her brother was giving her away... there was not much else she could ask for.
He placed on kiss on her forehead, caressing her cheek softly as he realized his sister was no longer a child.
Edward placed her hand in Drakes, smiling and stepping away as Alessia stepped towards her husband to be.
Father Morris smiled fondly, noting how sincere the love was between the two and nodded. "Drake has informed me we don't have much time so I think we will keep this short. Drake Campbell do you take Alessia Marie Masein to have and to hold until death do you part, for as long as you both shall live?"
Drake licked his lips, looking at the love of his life, still not believing that this gorgeous women would be his. "I do."
"Alessia Marie Masein do you take Drake Campbell to have and to hold, until death do you part, for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
"I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride."
They touched lips and suddenly, there were no problems at all.
