Waking up on Saturday morning, I groaned as I realized what the day was. Next to me, Sirius stirred lightly but didn't wake.
It was Valentine's Day. I hated that day with a passion. Seeing all of the lovey dovey couples made me want to vomit. All of the pink was horrid. The only good thing that came out of the holiday was the next day when all of the chocolate was on sale.
Looking around the dorm, I realized that Sirius and I were the only ones in there. Rolling over, I examined his sleeping figure. He looked so peaceful when he slept. The bruises on his side had long since disappeared but the long scar was still there. Before my eyes could go down any further, I looked back up at his face. Beautiful grey eyes were staring back at me.
Smirking, Sirius asked, "Like what you see, Princess?"
Kissing him lightly, I said, "You know I do, Prince Snuffles."
"Ready to face the vomit worthy sea of annoyingly romantic couples today?" He asked.
"Do we have to?" I pouted.
"Unfortunately, we do," he said, getting out of bed and throwing on a shirt. Turning his back to me, he continued, "Come on. I'll carry you."
Smiling, I climbed onto his back and wrapped my legs around his waist.
"This is why I love you."

Reaching the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall, I got off of Sirius's back and sat between him and Lily and across from James and Remus.
The pink hearts and streamers that were thrown everywhere literally gave me a headache. I was already regretting leaving the dorm.
"Happy Valentine's day, Laura," Remus joked as I took a drink of coffee.
"No."
"Do you have any plans for today?" Lily asked me.
Scoffing, I asked, "Do you and James?"
Lily blushed almost as bright as her hair. "No, why would you ask something like that?"
"To show you just how ludicrous you sounded."
"You know, Laura," Peter chimed in. "If I were you, I wouldn't let Sirius out of my sight today."
"Why?"
"Because," James continued for him, "I've already heard like 12 different girls talk about sneaking him a love potion."
Slyly glancing around the room, I saw that at least thirty girls from different houses were pointing towards Sirius and whispering to one another. Catching the eye of a Ravenclaw girl, I glared at her (snarling slightly) and leaned into Sirius as he draped his arm around my neck. The Ravenclaw glared back before turning to her friend.
"Protective much?" Remus asked, attempting and failing to hide his smile.
Throwing dirty looks at a Hufflepuff girl that was staring, I took a bite of my eggs and answered nonchalantly, "Just a little."
Peter and James laughed. Kissing my cheek, Sirius bent down to whisper in my ear.
"I find it quite the turn on when you get jealously protective."
"I'm not jealous," I mumbled back. "It's not like any of those girls are competition."
Sirius laughed, nearly choking on his coffee. "So what are we going to do today?"
"Well," I thought over our possible options. "There is a Hogsmeade trip but it's going to be filled with nothing but sappy couples. We can spend the day in the common room."
Sirius nodded to show that he agreed. That's when I remembered something.
"Or," I continued, smiling mischievously. "You could finally try out your motorcycle."
Grinning wildly, he said, "Well what are waiting for?"
Grabbing my hand, Sirius dragged me out of my seat. As we exited the Great Hall, I heard James calling after us.
"We'll come watch later!"
I sat on a dry spot on the ground, laughing as the bike almost toppled over once again. Sirius shot a glare at me. We had been outside for a little over an hour and Sirius had yet to travel over three feet with the motorcycle running and without falling.
"If it's so funny," Sirius called to me. "Why don't you come try?"
Smirking, I walked over to where he was. Sirius climbed off of the bike and held it stable as I swung a leg over the side. As he let go, I gripped the handle bars.
"Back up," I jokingly commanded. "I'll show you how it's done."
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Remus, James, and Peter heading towards us. Running a hand through my hair, I couldn't help but laugh at James's worried expression he was trying to mask.
"I thought Sirius was supposed to be the one riding," Remus said as they reached.
Walking over to stand by them, Sirius said, "I was. But I was so awesome at it that I'm now teaching Laura how to ride it."
James laughed. "We watched you repeatedly fall from the window in the common room."
Sirius blushed and quickly changed the subject. "We're supposed to be watching Laura show off her supposedly legendary bike skills."
Revving the engine, I got arrogant. "How much do you wanna bet that I can do better than Sirius on the first try?"
"2 chocolate bars and a galleon says you'll do worse," Remus bargained.
"Deal."
Before I could become nervous over what I was about to do, I gently tapped the gas pedal thingy. I had no idea how to drive a motorcycle but I wasn't about to let Sirius know that. I had way too much pride.
The motorcycle lurched forward. Before I could slow down and topple over, I put more pressure on the pedal. Speeding forward, I smiled as the wind ran through my hair, causing it to flow back. Turning the handles slightly so I wouldn't hit the large tree stump, I shot a triumphant smirk back at the boys who were watching in awe.
James's look of awe quickly changed to one of fear. I turned back around just in time...
To crash violently into a tree on the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest.

A/N: Cliffhanger! Please don't hate me. I had to do something dramatic and didn't want to be cliché and use something like Sirius "cheating" or getting hurt during a full moon.
