[ORIGINAL CHAPTER]

Later that day as the sun began to set Alex took me back up there my mothers earn before I emptied it, it was windy which meant the ashes scattered everywhere however as they did tears began to fall down my face.

So Alex wrapped his arm around me as we watched them fly away into the African sunset we stood there for a while watching the sun go down before we headed back I had only known Alex for a day but it felt like forever but I knew that he was older than me but could there be something between us. I had a couple of days before I started at Leopards den so I settled in the best I could and helped out Alex with his animals.

The next morning I got up and had a shower before going down it was early so many people weren't around but as I arrived downstairs Alex was stood there against one of the jeeps "you're up early as well" Alex said with a smile "yeah want to get to Leopards Den early" I said "well I can give you a lift" Alex said "you don't have to you have a game reserve to run" I said as he got in the jeep "it's no problem really even if they don't really like me there" Alex said which confused me before I jumped in the jeep and he began to drive off.

"How come they don't like you" I asked as he drove and the wind began to move my hair around "they don't exactly like the way I run my reserve" Alex said which made me wonder why my father didn't like him "I have to do what I have to do to make my reserve keep going" Alex said which made me wonder what he had done to annoy them so much "but i think you'll like it there not bad people" Alex said as he turned around and smiled at me before we entered Leopards den lane and drove up there the house "what are you doing here Tate?" A rather rough looking man said with a gun on his shoulder.

"I'm not here to cause any trouble I've just come to drop someone off" Alex said as he looked up at him as another man walked out when he did my heart dropped it was my father "Tate" Danny said angrily "you know your not welcome on our land" Danny said as i jumped out "he's just here to drop me off Jodie Marshall your new vet" I said as he walked down the stairs and shook my hand "I'll get going" Alex said before driving off "nice to meet you Jodie I'm Danny & that's Du plessi" Danny said as he pointed to him "not another English" Du Plessi said as he walked off "you'll get used to him if you want to follow me he said as I followed him into his veterinary surgery.

As I looked around I smiled it was nice to getting back to work again "so where are you from?" Danny asked I think he was just trying to start conversation "Bristol" I said which made his face light up "Same here before we moved out here" Danny said I kept looking the other way because I was nervous even being in his presence and I wasn't sure right now was the time to tell him who I was just yet. "How come you moved out here to be a junior vet" Danny asked "my mother died so I sold our practice and moved out here" I said trying to hold back to the tears "oh I'm sorry" Danny said with a guilty tone in his voice "it's alright, now how about you show me around" I said trying to change the subject.

As he showed me around "if it's alright, what happened between everyone at Leopards Den & Mr Tate there seems to be bad blood there and I don't want it to be awkward especially since I'm living there at the moment" I said as he looked away for a moment "he massaged my wife while she was face down unaware until she looked up" Danny said which shocked me especially since I was starting to feel something between myself and Alex. "If it makes it any easier you could move in here we haven't exactly got much room" Danny said "Thankyou" i said with a smile "it will make it easier for you anyway" Danny said trying shrug off his kindness.

Later that day I headed back to Mara and began to pack up my things back into the bags then I heard a knock on the door "leaving so soon" Alex said as he stepped into the room "yeah" I said looking away from him because after Danny had told me what happened I wasn't sure if I could trust Alex "Danny offered me a place to stay at leopards den" I said being vague because I didn't really want to speak to him.

"oh right" Alex said awkwardly, after a moment of silence I dropped what I was doing and turned to face him "why did you tell me that you kissed Danny's wife" I said snapping at him because I hated more than anything was when people lied to me "because it was a mistake" Alex said with a guilty look on his face "I know that I've only known you less than a week but I hate it when people lie to me" I said sounding annoyed with him "I regret what I did and I didn't see why I needed to tell you" Alex said stepping closer before placing his hand on my arm which made me look up at him.

"Well I was hoping we had became friends, and Danny is my boss and I was staying here it would have made my work life awkward" I said trying not to look into his eyes "I'm sorry" Alex said and before I knew it I reached up before kissing him I wasn't sure why I had because he had lied to me and kissed my fathers wife, he didn't know that Danny was my father and I wasn't sure I could trust him with that information for now. But as I kissed him I saw a smile appear on his face "wow" Alex said with a grin "shut up" I said shoving him which made laugh.

Alex then took my bags down before putting them into the jeep "I'd offer to drive you but you know what happened last time" Alex said. "Thanks" i said before getting into the jeep as i beant down Alex kissed me this time "well don't forget about me here at Mara all by myself" Alex said with a chuckle but I just replied with a smile before driving off.
