Settling In
= Juliette =
When I talked with Dorian before Eloise and I had boarded the plane he had informed me that there was still a few openings for enrollment at the university in our pack lands here in town...and that the Dean of Admissions would personally hold a spot for Eloise.
Of course with him being a member of the pack I couldn't help but wonder if Dorian had ordered him to do so, or if the Dean was doing this to try and stay in good favor with the Alpha?
Either way I wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth and therefore bit back any reservations as ultimately this was for Eloise and the betterment of her future.
When we landed on the pack lands I was immediately filled an air of satisfaction.
It felt good to be home and to FINALLY have my sister here with me, and yes I know everything I told her could've easily dissuaded her into staying with me, but I had to tell her something.
It's a little hard to explain the pack to people who aren't familiar with Weres.
Of course, I don't plan on keeping the secret from her forever...one day I will tell her the truth, I'm just hoping that she will have had time to fall in love with the people and the place before she angrily storms away from it all like I almost did.
And I'm definitely prepared for the backlash, I know she'll be angry, she probably won't talk to me...but at the end of it all she will understand that I only wanted her happiness.
When we reached the apartment her eyes never lost their saucer like size as she took everything in, in an amazed and awestruck fashion. Once in her room I grew a little nervous, what if she was clever enough to piece everything together despite what I've told her.
You see, it's pretty obvious, but to someone who's constantly wrapped up in their own lives, they're too busy to see what's right in front of them.
After we got all of her clothes put away we got into my car and drove over to the university.
"Juliette, I know I wasn't exactly a slacker in high school...but there's no way I'm gonna be able to come to this school."
"Why not?" I asked knowingly.
"Jules, just look at it!"
I couldn't help but smile upon hearing her old childhood nickname she had for me. No one other than her has ever called me Jules.
"Eloise, I told you...I have money." I said. This much was true, what I left out is that Dorian's family helped build the school and therefore family gets in for free...and Eloise is family by extension.
You see, Dorian (since his father's dip in health) has become the new Alpha of this pack and me being his mate, well that means that one day (after we are married) I will be his Luna. His pack knows who I am, and they already see me as a Luna of their pack, but I won't officially be Luna until Dorian marks me, and he won't mark me until we're married.
We sat in the polished office and upon his entry I recognized the man who is the Dean of Admissions.
"Imagine my surprise when I found out only two days ago that your sister has decided to join our illustrious...-"
"Community" I helped him.
"Yes, community...I don't know where my head is today." He smiled sheepishly.
"So I take it Dorian has spoken with the community about my sisters stay with us?" I asked as I looked over at a rather uncomfortable Eloise. She spotted me looking at her and I gave her a reassuring smile.
"Of course, and we are all excited to finally meet her, of course it is my honor Miss Hart," he said to Eloise, "to be the first of our community to get to meet and welcome you to our town, speaking on behalf of the entire community, I do hope you like it here."
This really did make me smile.
"The town is beautiful." Eloise sounded shyly.
Shy didn't suit her.
"Well as I've explained to Mr Travers (Dorian) we DO have a few open places for individuals trying to attend our school, and luckily we were able to get your transcripts." He said professionally.
I didn't know if he was making the last part up to save face and appear more professional than simply saving a spot for the alpha's potential sister in law, perhaps he had manage to obtain her paperwork without our permission.
"Now if you'd like I think we may be able to get you into a couple of last minute summer classes, or if you prefer we can leave your current schedule alone and we will see you come Autumn."
Eloise scooted toward the edge of her seat, an excited sort of smile rose upon her face, "I'm a college student?"
"Yes you are," he smiled. "I have a few items to give you and things to go over, but as of today you may consider yourself a student here."
I sat back and let the two talk about start dates and listened on as he went over her class schedules. For now she would have to take the basics before she really had to decide what she wants to major in.
After about an hour in the office, the Dean showed us around the school grounds. As we walked I saw various members of the pack littered about with townies (humans) all of which know about the Weres and the pack.
I waved at a few people and others walked up and greeted me personally.
"It's good to see you Clementine." I said to a specific girl who'd come up with a couple of other girls (one townie, one Were).
Clementine (a pack member) was clearly the leader of their little group. "Clementine's mother is our town's head doctor." I smiled as I looked at the girl before turning to Eloise, "Eloise this is Clementine, Clementine this is my sister Eloise."
My sister stepped forward to shake the girls hand "please, it's just Clem...and welcome to our town."
Eloise nodded, "it's nice to meet you."
I hoped these girls would like my sister, I may be a little older but not so old that I knew these three were the popular girls.
And life is just easier when you're one of the popular girls...plus, with possible friends Eloise could learn to like this place a lot more.
