Night Ride

-Juliette-

My heart began to pound in my chest, how could I refuse going with a complete stranger, I had just met Rocco Wylde, and while he was much more charming and kind than I was first led to believe...even he must understand the uncomfortableness of being thrust onto a bike with a stranger.

"That's settled then." Eloise sounded with easy finality as seemed to search. "Oh you can ride with Rocco's cousin, Dylan."

A tall man with broad shoulders and a muscular build that flaunted itself fully in his tight t-shirt stepped forward. He looked like a man who would easily be cast as a superhero in a movie with his all American good looks.

It was dark out but the stadium lights displayed his dark blonde hair and blue eyes.

"My Luna." He sounded upon walking over to us.

"Dylan this is my sister Juliette...she is going to be staying at the pack house tonight, would you please do me the favor of bringing her back with you once you've made sure the field is clear."

"Come My Heart." Alpha Wylde smirked as he got onto the bike before helping g her on as well.

"Your sister is in safe hands My Luna...Alpha." Dylan acknowledged as the two rode off.

Dylan turned to face me now, "Hello Juliette, I'm Dylan Wylde."

"Juliette Hart...I'm sorry my sister volunteered you."

"It's nothing, really...and I'm sure this isn't exactly ideal for you but orders are orders, so if you'd like to take a seat in the stands I'll just make sure everyone leaves and then then I can take you to over to the pack house."

He was a kind man, that much I could tell...also very loyal and dedicated to his Alpha, Luna and their pack, otherwise he'd of peddled me off to some other person.

"It's okay,." I said as I offered him a smile to try and ease the awkwardness, "if it moves things along I can help you get these people cleared out."

He nodded, "alright then."

We parted ways and began our job at hand.

"Party's over people!" I shouted.

And the people closest to me groaned but did in fact start making their way toward the vehicles or the woods possibly to shift and run home.

"There's gotta be faster way to get this done." I complained as too many people still lingered. I sighed as I looked over and saw a group of people that seemed to be giving Dylan a hard time.

Then an idea hit me.

I ran over to the concession stand. "Alpha Wylde ended the party, close up shop and kill the lights."

The guy behind the counter looked to be in his late teens and was worried about going against an order so he instantly did exactly as I had told him, first he turned off his machines, then pulled down the gated covering for the concession stand and locked it with a key, lastly I followed him to the power box and watched as he unlocked it and took no time in turning off the lights.

I pulled out my phone and turned on my flashlight.

"Thanks kid."

People followed suite by using their phones as lights and complaining as they left.

"Juliette?"

I turned and waved my phone, "over here Dylan."

He jogged over and even in this dim lighting I could see his smile, "quick thinking in your end...we could've been here for at least an hour."

I nodded, "well it's not much of a party without beer or lights...but something tells me my sister wanted me here tonight, but she might not be too keen on me going to the pack house just yet."

He rubbed the back of his neck a little embarrassed, "I think I catch your drift...how about we give those two some privacy then."

I knew he meant well, and it wasn't his fault that my sister wanted her mate to herself momentarily. "Uh...maybe we could grab a bite to eat or something?" I offered.

He smiled once more then offered me his arm, "Even with the phones, it's still dark out here...can't be too careful with my Luna's sister...let me lead you to my bike."

I obliged him, as I placed my hand in the crook of his elbow I could feel how truly toned his arm Muscles were, and I had to admit it kind of excited me...but of course I quickly reigned in any emotions before things could get out of hand.

Because at the end of the day I have a mate, and somewhere out there so does Dylan.

I got onto his bike, and after noticing there were no helmets I simply shrugged.

It seemed these days I was living life recklessly anyways.

He kickstarted the bike and my arms wrapped around his midsection automatically out of reflex and soon we were off.

The wind whipped my hair wildly and as he sped up I couldn't help but hold onto him tighter. Thankfully he must've noticed and slowed the bike for me.

Now we were cruising under the open nights sky, with my arms still around him for support I leaned back a little and looked up at the spattering of stars against the deep indigo sky.

"This is beautiful." I whispered into night and it was carried away into the wind as we drove on.

I looked at the scenic woods and lakes as we rode by, I'm sure they were just as lovely in the daylight, but something about seeing them at night made them feel special, almost magical as everything glowed with the moonlight.

When we finally reached the unfamiliar town I immediately noticed how alive with life it still was given the late hour.

There was more than one eatery open, bars and nightclubs had people standing in lines to get in or stumbling out to go home. The bright light of a marquee lit up the street to inform onlookers that they were showing movies still, we past a grocery store as well as a 24 hour pharmacy.

Then I gasped, "is that a coffee shop still open?" I asked in awe?

Somehow, even over the loud exhausts of his bike Dylan heard me as he simply nodded his head.

We finally stopped at one place, it was small and looked very hole-in-the-wall even for the locals.

"Dylan are you sure we're in the right place?" I asked unsure.

"Yeah." He said as he got off his bike and held his hand out to me.

But I didn't move right away as I took a moment to look around, not that Springwell was ghetto by any means...but this place seemed a little more rough around the edges than the other establishments open at this time.

"Come on princess, I promise I won't let anyone hurt you while you're with me." He said as he held his hand out to help me off his bike once again.

I removed myself from his bike as elegantly as possible before walking up to him. "I may be high maintenance, but I'm not a princess."

He chuckled, "if you say so duchess."

And then, Instead of escorting me into the building or even holding the door open for me, Dylan had simply turned and walked into the place alone, leaving me on the sidewalk next to his bike.

"The nerve of this jerk." I blanched.

I had to admit, being with Dorian had made me more than accustomed to being treated a certain way...so to have a guy openly act the complete opposite had me sort of upset with him.

When I finally got myself inside I found him sitting at a table casually.

"Where do you get off?"

"What?" He asked slightly amused, "you didn't like princess so I thought duchess would suffice, unless you'd prefer your highness or her majesty."

"Don't toy with me Dylan." I said pointedly.

"First you said your high maintenance but not the princess type so I took that as you see yourself more of an independent woman type...I respect that so as an independent woman I didn't want to presume you couldn't find your own way into the club or open your own doors."

I glared at him, was he making fun of me.

"Come on duchess, I'm trying to show you a good time and get you to lighten up a little...now I know it doesn't look like the best place in town but I promise the food is amazing and the live music is worth it."

I could see the sincerity in his eyes and took a seat with him at the table. It wasn't long before a waitress came over, she took our orders just as a jazz band began playing.

I hated to admit he was right, there was something about this low key place that brought out the excitement in me...what's more, I noticed that every time I would look over at Dylan I would catch him already look over at me.

It made me hyper-aware of myself and my behavior, and for the first time in my entire life, I didn't know how to act or feel as this guy confused me.
