I looked at myself in the mirror, my hair was still damp from my shower and it had been a good two weeks since Juliette moved in with the Wylde's.
She almost lost it after we told her she could never see Dorian again, and when we told her about Mr and Mrs Travers she didn't even react.
Rocco told me to give her some time and so I have.
And...In that time I've officially been getting the last touches done with before the opening of a health and wellness center with Juliette in mind.
You see, when I first started my Luna training Diane said it's always good for an Alpha and Luna to do thing for the community, but it would be a good idea for me to have a project that was just my own...something that showed the pack that this is something that I as the Luna felt strongly about.
So when I first began the project it was just me restoring an old building, then I had to decide what to put in the building...around this time was when Jules find out the truth about the Travers and Dorian...and as much as it really sucked, Rocco and I both knew that either Dorian or Juliette we're going to end things through a rejection.
And it made me wonder, what if there was a place where people could for help, or guidance, or just simply to be around other who understood what it was like to not be with their mates for one reason or the next be it a Mate passing, a mateless Were who's searched for years and still coming up with no mate, or someone who be rejected.
And so the health and wellness center cane to fruition.
This morning I was going to the center to see how everything was going but I couldn't find anything to wear.
"Just wear one of your dresses." Rocco said a little mischievously.
I smiled back at him, "you only like me in dresses because they create easy access for you."
"That's not entirely true my Heart, while they do in fact allow me easier access like you said, at the end of it all you look gorgeous in them...come to think of it, I don't know if I want you to wear a dress if I'm not going to be able to see you in it."
I laughed, "well as luck would have it, all of my clothes are fitting a little loose these days."
We had both noticed I had begun to lose weight when Juliette first came here and was unhappy, but it's been some time since then and my aversion against food stuck around.
"If this keeps going on we'll have to take you to the doctors office." He sounded concerned.
I sighed, I knew he was right but I've always hated going to clinics. I settled for a pair of old jeans and one of my favorite tops that tied in the back.
"I'll see you later My Alpha." I said as he leaned down to kiss me goodbye.
"Try and be back by noon, we have a meeting with some of the members from Harmond who want to join our pack." He reminded me.
"Of course...see you then." I sounded as I grabbed my purse and took off.
__________
"Luna, it's always a pleasure seeing you."
I smiled over at Dylan, "fancy running into you here."
He shrugged, "I feel strongly toward this cause, plus I want to help anyone going through what I've been through."
I felt horrible, "did your mate pass-"
"No" he said with a sad smile, trying to keep a cool facade. "I was rejected years ago...but as you can see, it hasn't completely taken over me and I was able to move on...so to speak."
I felt horrible, I mean I know Rocco had mentioned that Grace's mom had given up her rights to the precious little girl, but I wouldn't have thought to believe she would also be capable of rejecting her mate.
"I'm sorry to hear that." I said, to be honest it was the only thing I could think to say.
"It's fine, plus everything happens for a reason...had that not have happened I wouldn't have my little Grace." He smiled a genuine smile before excusing himself to speak with someone else.
I was now more confused than ever, I would have to make it a point to ask Rocco about his cousin's past at some point today.
I walked around and found the woman we had appointed as director of this center.
"So far we've set up supplies and support for single mothers here in the pack, and we've started the counseling sessions and group therapy for WWM (Weres Without Mates)...things are rounding out nicely." She assured me.
I nodded in approval, "I just want to make sure it is known that anyone can attend these sessions, non-weres included."
She nodded once more, "yes there are many non-weres who's mates are no longer with us or in your sister's case, were rejected."
I had learned that rejecting a mate isn't something that happens a heck of a lot as it is just emotionally and physically vexing for both involved. Plus who wouldn't want to be with their mate?
I constantly looked at my watch and when I absolutely couldn't stay a moment longer I excused myself.
"I have to get going but it was a pleasure coming today and seeing all that you've done." I said with a smile.
The woman gave me a heartfelt smile before Dylan walked over, "if you don't mind I'll walk you out...I have to get going as well."
I nodded and allowed him to escort us out of the room.
As we walked down the stairs I took the liberty to question him a bit.
"I can't help but notice your absence these past couple of weeks...is everything okay?"
"I've just been busy at work Luna, and Grace requires a lot of my time and attention as well." He answered.
"She really is lovely Dylan, bring her by the pack house anytime ...Rocco and I would love to visit with her." I said as I looked over at him, to be honest I had not so secretly been rooting for Dylan to fall in love with Jules.
And for a moment there I thought the chemistry they had developed would bring them closer...but as I look at him I can see he is tired, and there is a sadness to his eyes no matter how much he tries to mask it.
"Thank you Luna, I'm sure she would love that."
I gave him a smile, I really do have to get going, Rocco is expecting me for a meeting with potential pack members.
"Is the pack expanding?" He asked.
I gave him an honest shrug, "your guess is as good as mine." After that he opened the car door for me and he watched as I drove off.
I finally got back to the pack house just as Rocco was getting ready to leave.
"Come on My Heart, we don't want to be late." He said as I got out of my car and got into his. "How was the event?" He asked.
"It was good, they have so much set up and ready...I also ran into Dylan there, you know every time I see him I have more and more questions about him." I admitted.
Rocco sighed heavily, "even if he wasn't my cousin I would pity him...he was the first born of our generation so many believe he should have been the alpha of this pack, but his father is younger than mine so Dylan would've only been Alpha had been a girl or never been born at all, but obviously that wasn't the case."
I remained silent.
"Then of course he was rejected by his mate...I mean without ever giving anyone too much detail she met her and she rejected him, a mystery that still eludes all of us...none of us know who she is or why she did it." He said with a sad shake of his head before continuing.
"Then in an attempt to move on from his rejection he met a girl...and one very unprotected night together, they had Gracie, and literally signed her rights away to Dylan and ran off with her newly found mate."
I sat there completely shell shocked, I couldn't believe so much heartache could fall onto one individual.
"I can't believe it." I said in awe.
Rocco nodded, "he's been dealt the worst hand and he still somehow manages to go on...did you know he's currently working on his Doctorate in Law and Policy."
I shook my head, "i didn't even know they offered doctorates in law."
He nodded, "it suits him actually...my aunt Hope (his mother) was a social worker and often he would see the harsh reality of that profession...but more so, he's very quiet...he loves to analyze people and things, it's in his nature to dig deep in order to seek the truth of things, he's also very devoted and passionate toward those he loves, but work is included in that."
I could see that, Dylan does seem to love his family has talked about work quite often.
"Now, how about we go into this meeting?" He sounded as he pulled the car into a parking lot I didn't recognize.
