Community pt. 1
= Eloise =
The next morning Juliette woke us up bright and early, I knew she was anxious to go back to her home and be with her boyfriend.
I had no objections...the quick I was gone and away from here, the better.
Even after hearing about her strange little story book community I still wanted nothing more than to be with my sister.
So I decided, if this is what makes my sister happy, then this is the life I will live alongside her.
After getting dressed we had a quick breakfast at a small diner before we finally headed to the airport. I was anxious as I sat next to my sister awaiting our plane.
I tried not to listen to Juliette gush about her love on the phone call with Dorian.
I knew what they had was special...crazy...but definitely special.
"We should be boarding any minute." Juliette sounded after she hung up.
"You know, I hope that one day I can find a guy like Dorian."
Her eyes went big.
"I mean I just want a guy who can love me unconditionally the way you guys love each other."
She patted my hand in a motherly sort of fashion, "the right guy will come along when you least expect it...so don't go looking, let him find you."
I nodded and not long after it was time for us to depart.
I was antsy and giddy as I took my seat and buckled up, I couldn't stop bouncing my knee out of nervousness. It was finally happening, I was finally going to be allowed to leave.
I just needed the plane to get into the sky already.
I felt anxious now, like any minute my aunt would walk into the plane and snatch me out of my chair.
"Relax." Juliette whispered softly.
And strangely my entire body relaxed. I felt much more calm and as the plane ascended I simply looked out the window 'so long' I thought to myself, 'can't say I'll miss you.'
"You alright?" Juliette asked.
"Never better Jules."
__________
"Okay, this place is legit." I stated as I tried to take in as much of the opulent apartment as possible.
Juliette had mentioned the apartment was fabulous last night. But fabulous didn't do it justice as I was still unprepared to basically walk into a super luxe, hyper swanky, New York style penthouse.
"Well I'm glad you like it," she smiled before coming over to hug me tight. "Welcome home Eloise...would you like to see your room?"
"Is that even a question?" I asked with a chuckle.
We each grabbed one of my suitcases before we made our down the long corridor of a hallway, she reached the closed door and turned the knob.
I was greeted by a pretty room that looked like it came straight from the pages of a ultra posh magazine.
"To be honest I've always sorta saved this room for you." She admitted.
"It's great."
"...I mean, I tried to even get Aunt Gertie to let you come and visit over spring break or at least a couple of weeks in the summer...but we both know how that went."
I was touched to see that she always thought about me.
"Of course you're free to decorate the room to your own liking, and unlike back at Aunt Gertie's I don't have any sort of curfew, but if you're going to be out all night just give me a heads up." She said.
"What no caution about wild parties?"
Her light laugh sounded throughout the hall. "Eloise, if you can find someone willing to come over here and party I dare say knock yourself out...which reminds me, I want you to feel like this is truly your home now Eloise...so once you make friends please feel free to invite them over whenever."
Her words left me with the impression that the people of this community were off the grid, like the Amish.
"Well, what's there to do around here in a place where no one parties and boys don't have sex?"
Juliette rolled her eyes and smirked.
"There's parties, and I promise guys like to have sex just as much as girls do...it's just people tend to save themselves for their special someone around here." She said as she walked my suitcase toward the closet and began placing my articles of clothing away.
"And there are a few nightclubs just outside of town...but you aren't exactly old enough to get in with the exception of teen or college nights...once you start school though I'm sure you'll get invited to more than a few parties, that was never really my scene so I never went to anything like that."
"Well what do YOU do for fun?"
She slowed down And looked up at me, "well most of my time is spent with Dorian and doing things for the community...oh this coming weekend we will be having a movie in the park night."
I looked at her.
"Dorian knows that the younger people of his community are good and deserve to have fun so we have a lot of parties, mixers, movie nights, and get togethers...we also do a lot for the town creating jobs and safe places for the kids...I just really hope you like it here Eloise."
I nodded, "I'm sure I will Juliette, it sounds really nice...and I can't wait to meet the elusive Mr. Dorian."
She only giggled and nodded, "he wants to meet you too, no doubt to hear embarrassing stories."
"Nothing to worry about, you aren't exactly someone with skeletons in her closet."
She smiled and shook her head, "unfortunately you won't be meeting Dorian until tomorrow, today is all about settling in and relaxing."
"Well it looks like you've almost got all of my clothes put away." I pointed out.
She smiled sheepishly, "sorry."
"It's cool, means I don't have to do it myself."
"Well we can finish this and then we can leave." She said.
"Leave, but you just said we were getting settled in today."
"And we are, first I wanted to get you settled at home before going over to the college and getting you settled in and taken care of so you'll have a spot at school come autumn."
I could understand that, and I was thankful that she was trying to make sure I had a place at the school. Like she brought up yesterday, that option may very well be off the table, but if I knew Juliette, she would do everything possible to get her way.
As soon as the clothes was all sorted and put in it proper places, Juliette and I left the apartment to begin our day.
__________Author's Note__________
I just want to point out that while I used the Amish as a symbol for "boring/uptight" people I can honestly say that I have no ill will toward the Amish community. From my knowledge they are a hardworking, devoted, and loving people who choose to live a "simpler" life. So please don't think that I dislike the Amish in any way.
