By the time the Ceremony started, Frost and her brother, Fang, were already outside all nice and neat. The neatest I got was the new bandana and my fur flattened. I wasn't into much grooming. I sat behind Stream, between Fang and Frost. Soon Alpha Stone called us forwards. We stayed in a perfectly straight line as we all three padded forwards - er - until Frost stepped on my bandana making me fall muzzle first on the ground. I stood up quickly and blushed lightly in embarrassment as all of Oakpack laughed at me. My dark coat probably hid the redness of my cheeks. I whined softly.
"Silence! You're all so rude!" Stone's loud, booming voice echoed in my ears as the pack was silenced quickly.
"Now, Fang. I have chosen for you to be in the Dawnly Hunting Delta Group. And for your tutor, I have chosen Hawk, the Leader of the group." Stream spoke smoothly.
"Now. Shade, Frost, I was unable to think of your strongest skills so you will both be set as Mystery Subordinates. In the mean time, Shade, I am your tutor. And Frost, Ivy has volunteered to be your tutor." I remained standing next to Alpha Stone as Frost joined Ivy at the side of the ledge. I watched Fang join his tutor and then drew my attention to Alpha Stone as he dismissed the Ceremony. He led me off of the ledge and met up with Ivy. The two spoke inaudibly for a bit.
"They don't know your skills because you have none." Frost whispered harshly.
"Shut up already will you? Your mother probably threatened Alpha Stone and Stream to make you a Mystery Subordinate." She snarled and lunged at me. Ivy snatched her by the scruff quickly.
"You two need to learn to get along. You will be doing most of your Subordinate Training together." Stone barked roughly.
"We are going to take you on a tour of the territory. Starting with the Western Border." Ivy mumbled as she let go of Frost. Alpha Stone led us out of camp and towards the Western border. He suddenly crouched down.
"Get-" Ivy and Frost crouched quickly. As I began to crouch, a large net scooped me up. I yelped and soon saw another human stand in the background with a gun.
"Quite a beauty. She could sell for quite a bit!"
"Yeah." Soon Alpha Stone lunged and lunged for the man with the net. He then was knocked backwards as Ivy jumped in front of him, throwing him off balance as a loud echoing boom rang in the air. Shot in the shoulder, Ivy looked at Frost who was hiding under a bush.
"Frost, get out here!" She barked. Frost laid under the bush, horror filled her eyes. Alpha Stone grabbed the handle to the net and it began to crack. BANG!
   Stone stumbled backwards and blood poured out of his mouth and sorrow filled his eyes before they went dull. His dull gaze stared at me as he fell to the ground. It all happened so fast. The bullet went straight through his throat. I yelped and my heart dropped. Tears brimmed my eyes. Ivy roared and tackled the human with a gun. Her teeth cracked as her jaws slammed down on the barrel of the shotgun. I looked at Frost whom remained under the bush, watching.
"Frost!" I yelped.
   Alpha Stream came running out of some bushes. She sniffed her mate's dead body. Turning towards me, she ran at the man with the net and lunged. I didn't even hear the gunshot this time. She fell to the ground, the life immediately drained from her body. Blood pooled out from her chest quickly. I snarled in sad annoyance as Ivy swing around and grabbed Frost before running off. The two men laughed and I barked stubbornly. They shrugged and threw me into a metal cage in the back of a large van.
