Chapter Thirteen
I awoke to Woobie standing up and shaking his fur. I sat up slowly, my head throbbing. I yawned.
"Hey." He whispered.
"Morning." I whispered back.
I padded forwards to the front of the den and sat in the entrance. The sun was just coming up. Woobie came to join me and sat next to me.
"Beautiful Dawn..." I yawned. Woobie nodded his agreement. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Woobie's ears turn at the sound of someone's movement behind us. Judging by the strange white scentline, it was Tank.
"Morning Tank."
"How did you-" His face was full of confusion as I followed his scent line.
"She sees scent lines and can tell whose they are and she can follow them and see their motions, moron." Woobie snarled.
"Why can't we see them?" Radium and Galaxis were waking up now, Radium heard our conversation and was being inquisitive.
"Are you colourblind?" I grinned and turned around to face them.
"No."
"No." They both mumbled.
"I'm not offended. I'm quite used to it." I then bowed my head as I remembered my dream and Diamondpack.
"What's wrong?" Woobie nudged be.
"Stream and Stone visited me in my dream last night... today I will be a year old. They gifted me a skill of theirs each.... I miss them.... and I kinda miss Diamondpack."
"Missing the old days is tough." Radium and Galaxis were standing in front of me now.
"Let's catch breakfast." I barked to lighten the mood. They nodded and I left the den with my friends close on my tail. I stopped moving.
"Who here is good at hunting?"
"I am." Tank stepped forwards.
"So am I." Galaxis barked.
"Okay... Tank, you will be the leader of this hunting party and Galaxis, you're the co-leader." They both nodded hesitantly and we traveled in a straight line. It went in order from Tank, Galaxis, Radium, Woobie, and to me.
Soon, Tank led us to a large elderly moose who was ready for his death but wasn't going down without a fight. Tank stood in front of the moose. I stood behind it. Woobie was at its left, and Radium was to its right. Galaxis was next to Tank. Woobie let out a few barks to get the moose's attention. When the moose didn't budge, I joined him in his wild frantic barks. When the moose still didn't move I looked at Woobie. He nodded. I gave a loud growl and Woobie rustled the leaves beneath his paws to make it sound like I was attacking. The moose quickly swung around, and as it did, Radium and Galaxis lunged. Galaxis grabbed the moose's haunches and Radium clung onto its side. As it roared in pain, I jumped up and was kicked in the face and knocked backwards. I was startled and dazed as blood blinded me. I backed away until something stopped me. I blinked repeatedly and could only see shapes. I saw a wolf that had Woobie's build lunge up and grab the moose's throat. Another figure, much larger - probably Tank - grabbed the moose's antlers and dragged it to the ground. The figures started to get blurrier than they already were. I then felt a familiar, comforting pelt press against my flank and I laid down.
"It's okay." Woobie's warm breath filled my ear. I laid my head down. He laid down next to me. I then passed out.
