Chapter Nineteen
It was quite a clumsy lunge, so he dodged it easily. It was my fault, I was so angry I couldn't focus and I lunged before thinking.
As he dodged, he managed to do a good blow to my shoulder, making me tumble to the ground. Before I could stand up, he grabbed my leg in his jaw and his fangs sank into my skin. When I yelped, he pulled away and stood above me.
I threw him off and sliced into his stomach easily, but not too deep. He growled in annoyance and I leapt again, this time I was careful to do it right. I slammed into his shoulder and grabbed his scruff. Without even noticing, I had flipped him over my head and slammed him into the ground. I went to back away, but Fang was quick.
He stood up and flipped me into my back. As he did, he grabbed the sides of my muzzle and spread them by force with his own jaws, leaving me ready for death. He slowly closed his jaws where mine connected, making them open wider. I growled as he had my jaws spread as wide as they would go without breaking. I started to yelp and whimper as I felt a little more pressure.
"Enough." I heard Woobie bark just before another wolf tackled Fang easily. When I stood back up, I saw Radium pinning Fang to the ground. Woobie nudged Radium off and Fang backed away from us.
"Long time no see." I flicked my ear as I heard Tank's voice break the silence. I turned around and wagged my tail. I then stopped it as I remembered I was the one to run away from the group. I was the one to ditch my friends.
"Why are you here?" Woobie barked at Tank as Galaxis stepped out from behind Tank and stood at his side.
"To see our friends again." Radium barked and padded my way. He raised his head above mine to show he was taller and his eyes called me short. We then started laughing.
"You two were the ones to walk away from us. If you remember..." Tank mumbled.
"I don't want to talk about this..." I shouldered Woobie away and he took the hint so he glared at Tank before returning to his den.
"I missed you guys." I whispered and lowered my head.
"We missed you too." I heard Galaxis bark.
"Shade, you could've talked to us." Tank mentioned.
"I know and I am sorry." I looked up and Tank was closer to me.
"You know we are your family, right? You can tell us anything." I nodded. I suddenly pressed my muzzle against his chest and felt tears brim my eyes.
"I don't want to choose between you guys!"
"You don't have too. We can stay here-"
"I doubt Woobie will let us." Tank interrupted Radium with a glare that I caught.
"I don't know if I want to stay in my old pack. But I don't want to leave him behind." I sat down and pulled my head away from Tank's chest, only for Galaxis to sit next to me and lick my neck fur to sooth me. I looked at my paws and Tank put his head on mine. His breath was calming by sound and by feeling. Radium sat nearby, keeping his distance, seeming unsure. I felt more tears as a few escaped. I shivered heavily as I held back sobs.
"We will always be here for you. No matter what." I heard Tank whisper. I looked up at him and he smiled lightly.
"Thank you."
