It has been nearly a year since we left the group. Woobie now knows I like him and I don't know if he likes me back... I don't know what to do.
"Hungry?" Woobie barked.
"I could eat." He then led me through the woods to find good prey. He began to run faster and faster. I could barely keep up.
"Where are we going?!" I barked, my tongue lolling from the energy being drained from my body with every stride. Woobie remained silent as he ran ahead, his tongue lolled as well. He finally stopped. It was on the top of a hill. He stood there, looking at something below. I ran up and realized it was a grassy cliff. And what he looked at was a pack. I immediately spotted Frost.
"Why did you bring me here?"
"You need to make things right." He pressed his pelt close against mine. Did he like me back? He then howled lowly to get the pack's attention. Soon, a large wolf I didn't recognize stared at us. The Alpha. Woobie then jumped down the cliff ledge by ledge and I followed.
"Traitor!" A wolf barked.
"It's Shade!" Another snarled in disgust.
"Murderer!" Frost barked.
"Where's Ivy?" I barked back at Frost. I knew Ivy could make this all right.
"Dead." A low voice boomed and I turned to see Fang standing next to the alpha.
"She didn't survive the bullet wound in her chest. She only carried me half way to camp." Frost barked, false sorrow in her voice.
"It was in her shoulder - at least I actually tried to help Alpha Stone and Alpha Stream, while you hid under a bush!" Anger boiled inside of me, but I refused to allow it to show. I kept my muzzle relaxed and didn't let it curl. I kept my fur flat and didn't let it bristle. I only allowed anger to show in my eyes. Though I kept a strong, calm gaze.
"Liar! You allowed yourself to get caught, you didn't even move! In fact, your goal was to get me killed! You're a mutt and you should've never been in a pack!"
"Silence!" The dark colored alpha boomed. He then got closer to me. Woobie stopped forwards in my defense. I stared at the alpha.
"Shade... why have you come back?" He snarled and flicked his tail. Fang and Frost cut Woobie off. Woobie gave a soft growl and I flicked my tail to signal it was fine. He backed up, but didn't sit down.
"... to..." I turned to Woobie and sighed to regain my confidence, "... To make things right."
"Make what right exactly?" His voice was loud.
"I want to tell the pack how much Frost did to help - NONE! Yes, I was captured, yes I couldn't do anything to help. But Frost hid under a bush and watched everything. Ivy was shot in the shoulder, Alpha Stone was shot in the throat, and Alpha Stream was shot in the chest. Frost didn't do anything after both me and Ivy said she should help." I looked at Frost as she flattened her ears in annoyance, but blushed as the rest of the pack stared at her.
"I- er- they-" She looked at me and barked, "I was scared, okay?! There were loud noises, the Alphas died- they treated you as their pup! I was jealous and didn't want to help!" She slammed her jaws shut and ducked as gasps echoed through the pack.
"But- you told us-" Fang stuttered, pain and defeat filled his eyes, "You said that Shade killed both alphas and went with the hunters... I..." anger and rage filled his eyes, "You lied to me! You lied to the entire pack! You're a traitor!" Frost stepped back. Offended, she tried to fix it, "But I-"
"I loved you! You were my little sister and I cared for you! Now I never want to see you... again..." tears filled both siblings' eyes.
