We eventually stopped at an old den to shelter from the weather as it started to rain. My stomach growled and I realized I haven't eaten in days. "Who's hungry?" I barked and heard Woobie grunt, "I am." Tank mumbled his agreement, "Same."
I stood up. "I'll be right back." I then left the den and disappeared in the rain. I sniffed the ground for any prey at all and occasionally sniffed the air for prey. Sometimes rain got in my nose. "I doubt there will be anything..." I spoke too soon as a deer ran out from beneath a small tree. I chased it. I spotted anther wolf chasing it as well. I couldn't let him catch my prey. I sped up as much as I could and lunged a the deer, I almost missed it, but my claws had knocked it off balance and I quickly snapped its neck. It was a plump fawn, enough for a few canines to get full off of. I quickly laid on top of the deer's body and stared at the large wolf. He is almost as big as Tank.
"You stole my catch." He sat down, not seeming as a threat at all.
"Who's catch did I steal? If I may ask." I growled.
"I am the King. King of all canines." He gave a humorous smile.
"You're barely a year older than me. Why should I believe you?"
"Because I am your ruler." I held in a laugh. Another wolf emerged from the bushes, she was about my age.
"Don't mind him. That's Radium and I'm Galaxis. He likes to joke around a lot. Who might you be?"
"I'm Shade. And I'm sorry I 'stole' your catch, I just have to feed my friends. They are in a den not too far from here, sheltering from the rain."
"You didn't steal his catch, you caught it fairly. We can find another deer."
"Nonsense, you can come along with me. Me and my friends won't mind sharing. I'm sure of it." They spoke to one another inaudibly and Radium nodded.
"We accept your offer." I nodded and began to drag the deer back the way I had come, when Galaxis grabbed the other part of it and helped me bring it back to the den. As we got closer to the den, the rain started to pour down harder. I could see the den now, but I didn't speed up to get there. When we finally got into the den, I dropped the deer an shook my pelt. Radium and Galaxis did the same.
"Who are they?" Woobie questioned as he and Tank both stood up protectively.
"This is Galaxis and Radium. They helped me bring it here and we are going to share it with them."
Woobie nodded and dragged the deer closer to the center of the cave. He sat down and began eating. Tank joined him and Woobie finished first. When it was my turn, Tank finished and Radium and Galaxis joined me. They finished before me because I ate the bones. They all watched me, looking at me like I was crazy.
"I'm not crazy. The bone marrow is good and the bone sharpens your teeth."
"Okay..." Galaxis laughed. Radium nudged me.
"It's okay, we all are messed up." I laughed and choked on a bone.
"True."
