SHOT 49
Bhumi's POV:
I have been feeling terrible since waking up this morning.
When I came here, to Sammy, I found out that Aryamann is nowhere. He had left without even leaving a single message. I reprimanded myself again and again for expecting more from him when I knew better.
He came back only after the procedure started. He tried to explain the reason why he was caught up, but I didn't let him. He put his work ahead of his own child! That's all I needed to know. There is no point in knowing more.
The procedure took a couple of hours, and the doctors said everything went well. Now we need to wait for a couple of weeks to know the results.
What happened next shocked the hell out of me.
The Adani and Kaura family were standing in front of me, with the Mehrotras. I did expect the Mehrotras to come at some point. Aryamann must have informed them about the existence of the twins. But I didn't expect Adanis and Kauras to be here. And the way Jalaja Adani embraced me. As if she knew! And her words just confirmed it.
"Dadi. I am your dadi, little one. Why didn't you tell us?" Jalaja dadi cried, and I paled even more.
"How did you know?" I asked, still reeling from the shock.
"I always had my suspicions, darling. I told your dadu about it too." Jalaja dadi cried.
"We were told that you died ten years ago," Parth Adani, my paternal grandfather said, as he looked at me with so much adoration.
"Kedar hid you from us," Ahir Kaura, my maternal grandfather said, looking at me with equal adoration.
"Uncle Kedar was angry with you. For not accepting mama and papa," I told them softly.
"You look like Maanasi. We should have known," Hemant Kaura, my maternal uncle, said emotionally.
Tears were running down my cheeks, remembering my parents.
"No, no, don't cry. Don't cry, sweetie. Come to dadu," Parth said and hugged me tightly.
"You should call me nanu. That would avoid confusion, since you have two grandpas now," Ahir said, chuckling through his tears.
Nanu, Dadi, Dadu!
And an assorted army of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
I had dreamed of this my whole life.
And finally, finally, I have it now.
But how did they find out?
"How did you find out?" I asked at last.
"We held a prayer for the deceased people at home. Aryamann recognized your picture. That's how we came to know that you are alive. I have been an only child in the family. I am happy to know that I have a sister now," Siddharth Kaur said, giving me a hug.
I saw Ishitha di, looking at me, with tears running down her cheeks.
"Ishitha di," I called out softly, and with a cry, she threw herself at me and hugged me tight.
"I told you, right? I feel some deep connection with you. As if I have known you forever. We are sisters, Bhumi. Oh God! I still can't believe it. You are my little sis. You knew it and never said a word. I am angry with you," Ishitha di cried, holding me tight.
The reunion was very emotional.
The whole Adanis and Kauras were fighting to hug me.
I felt overwhelmed with all the love they are showing over me.
I saw Aryamann watching me with a small smile on his face.
"If you people are quite done, could we please get a chance to meet our Bhumi?" Roop Mehrotra asked, adopting a mock indignant look on her face.
Jalaja dadi frowned at Roop dadi.
"Is it necessary? You had her with you for a year. Now it's our turn," Jalaja dadi argued, looping her arms around mine, making everyone chuckle.
"Mommy," we all heard an excited squeal and saw Abhi toddling over to me, with Chiara hot on his heels.
"Careful, Abhi," I moved forward in a hurry to catch him, because I knew he was going to jump when he came closer.
As expected, he did that. I quickly caught him, when he jumped into my arms.
"I missed you, mommy," he said and placed a slobbery kiss on my cheeks.
"I missed you too baby," I said and kissed all over his face, making him giggle.
"Want Sammy," he demanded, looking around for his partner in crime. That is when he noticed the army of people, looking at him in awe.
"Mommy. Sooo many people," Abhi whispered in my ears.
"Aww. Isn't he the most adorable thing in the world?" Jalaja dadi cried, looking at Abhi.
Abhi's lips jutted out, seeing dadi cry.
"Want Sammy," he asked again.
"Sammy is ill, darling. We will see him soon," Aryamann said, and Abhi turned to look at Aryamann and immediately jumped from my arms into Aryamann's waiting ones.
"Careful," I said, as my heart thumped hard against my chest. Abhi is so fast, you wouldn't know when he would jump. It scares the hell out of me all the time.
"Daddy. Is Sammy going to die?" Abhi asked, his lips turned down in despair.
I gasped when I heard that. My eyes welled up, thinking about Sammy. My son, who is in pain now.
"Of course not, Abhi. Sammy had a bug in his blood. So the doctors took that blood and gave him another blood. So Sammy will be alright now," Aryamann told Abhi.
Abhi had a thoughtful look on his face and then he asked.
"Is Sammy going to be a vampile?" Abhi asked innocently, making us all surprised.
"Vampire? How do you know vampires? And why would you think so?" Aryamann asked in shock.
"Mommy watches this on TV, when she thinks we are sleeping. We sneak into the living room and watch it with her. In that show, whoever is given the blood becomes vampiles. I want to be a vampile when I grow up," Abhi said and I gasped loudly.
Goodness!
How did I miss them sneaking into the living room, while I am watching vampire diaries or originals?
"Well, you must have been too caught up drooling over those guys, in that show," Aryamann said with a scowl.
Oh goodness! Did I say that aloud?
"You did, Bhumi. And you are doing it again," Aryamann said.
"Abhi, it is a bad habit to sneak around mommy. Don't do that again," Aryamann said in a stern tone, making Abhi fold his hands on his chest and look away.
Great! Now he is angry.
He demanded to be put down, and Aryamann did the same.
"Abhi, baby, look who all are here to see you," I spoke, to divert his attention.
"Abhi no see," Abhi said adamantly and covered his eyes with his chubby little hands.
"Abhi, darling," I tried to coerce him, but Aryamann shook his head in denial.
"You shouldn't always be lenient, Bhumi. If you become lenient now, he will think it is okay to sneak around you again. Habits are impossible to change when they grow up. So we need to be a bit strict from now itself," Aryamann whispered to me, making me frown.
"They are hardly three," I pointed out.
"I know. And they are the only grandchildren, as of now, in these three families. They are going to be spoiled rotten. One of us has to be strict, if you don't want them to grow up into spoiled brats," Aryamann said.
What he said makes sense.
So far, it has only been me and Ansh.
Now there is an army of people, waiting to spoil them.
"I have never been strict with them," I told him with a frown.
"That's okay. You can be the lenient parent. I will be the strict one," Aryamann said, with a soft smile.
"Don't be hard on them," I told him.
"I know, Bhumi. Stop worrying. I am not going to be a dictator kind of father. I am just going to be strict whenever necessary. I lost three years of their life. Do you think I will be able to hold myself from spoiling them a bit?" Aryamann asked and that made me smile.
Aryamann's POV:
Gaurav turned into a baby when he started playing with Abhi. So far, Gaurav is Abhi's favourite among all the people who are gathered in the waiting room of the hospital. A nurse had come and asked us to leave, as no more than two relatives of the patients are allowed in the waiting room.
Who am I kidding! Parth and Ahir made some calls, and the nurse was back, apologising.
As if she needs to apologise for doing her job!
"We need to have lunch, Bhumi. It's already past three in the afternoon," I said with concern.
"I am not hungry," she said, without looking at me.
She is still angry at me for the morning incident.
"Goodness, Bhumi. It is half past three in the afternoon now. Come, let us go get you some lunch," I told her sternly.
Parth Dadu and Ahir Nanu glared at me.
Oh god! Now I have to deal with these overprotective grandparents?
I am her husband for crying out loud.
"Bhumi, darling. Come, let us go have some lunch," Parth Dadu said, making me frown.
"That's alright, Parth Dadu. I will take her," I told him politely.
"No need, young man. You didn't take care of her properly when you had the chance. Now we will manage," Ahir Nanu said, and my eyes widened in horror.
They are not going to take her away from me, are they?
