The night
The little blond girl looked out her tower window, she was around 12 years old. Her hair was held back with a blue ribbon, her mom's actually, and she wore a blue dress, like the one her mother used to wear. Another girl, around the same age, but a year or two older, was sitting on her purple bed in the corner. She had long brown hair tied back with a purple ribbon, and she wore a purple dress similar to the blue one. "Come on Rose. Get away from the window. Or you might just end up in an insane asylum like our mom, cause like you say, Wonderland is real. Right?" The brown haired girl teased, Rose looked away from the window and sighed. "I DO believe Wonderland is real. And I will find it one day, just like our mom. And I'll prove she isn't insane!" Rose let a warm tear trickle down her freckled cheek, her hazel eyes glazed with sadness as she remembered that awful moment from years ago.
"I'm sorry Mr... But your wife has to come with us. She has been diagnosed with insanity. She can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality." The doctor spoke, he grabbed the woman's arm and dragged her away when the Mr. nodded his head. Rose stumbled forward, she screamed and kicked to be with the woman they were taking away, "MOMMY! NO! MOMMY! DON'T TAKE HER! SHE'S NOT INSANE! I'VE SEEN THE WHITE RABBIT TOO! IT'S REAL, NO! PLEASE! MOMMY!" Rose was pulled the opposite way by other doctors, it took four just to take her away. Mr. just watched, "I'm sorry Alice. But it must be done." Is all the man said. Then Mr. got sick and he couldn't take care of his daughters, cause only a few days after Alice was taken, he died. Rose and her sister were dragged away, to a tower, where they would never feel the soft green grass, as because of their father's will.
"To whom ever it may concern, My daughters are healthy both mentally and physically, and to make sure they do not end up like their mother they shall be locked in a tower. No rabbit, even a white one, could ever get them, or even close to them. If they don't see the forests, or the animals, or the fields, they shall never even imagine a story as unhealthy as their mother's."
"Oh shut it. Even if there was a white rabbit around here, it wouldn't be alive for long, it's huntin' season right now." The brown haired girl sneered, but Rose kept looking out the window, hoping to get a glimpse of that fairytale rabbit. "Maybe your the crazy one Pearl. And if the white rabbit does come, I hope he doesn't invite you to tea." Rose retorted and kneeled down on a small chair propped up by the window. A knock sounded at the door, slowly the golden handle turned, and the door popped open so just the slightest crack could be seen. "Hello Madame. Is it time for our early night tea?" Pearl asked with a proper girl voice, the lady, head mistress of the orphanage towers, growled and swung the door open. She stomped in and went right up to Rose, "What do you think you are doing?! Hmm?!" She squinted unlady-like, "Just looking out the window Madame." Rose replied while looking at the floor, because it was against the rules to make eye contact with the head mistress, unless she likes you, and she very much despised Rose. "Do you want to end up like your mother? Get away from the window!" The woman marched over to the window, and without hesitation, she slammed the window closed and locked the wooden blockers in place. She turned around with a blank face, "Now, it's time for bed. Because Rose was looking out the window again, there will be no tea. Goodnight Pearl, and Rose." She sneered at Rose and left the tower, she closed the door behind her and locked it.
Pearl and Rose were in their beds, Pearl was fast asleep, but Rose was wide awake and staring at a wall. The blond girl was wondering what Wonderland was like, she had heard stories, like the MadHatter, and the Cheshire Cat, and the evil Queen Of Hearts. When Rose looked away from the wall and over at her sister's bed on the other side of the room, she knew her sister was never going to believe. So Rose looked back at the wall, but something was different, a white rabbit was standing there, he had a monocle and watch and a vest. But something was wrong, he was shivering, and his fur had hints of red. "Alice? Alice come! Quick! We musn't be late!" He said fast and jumped off the bed frame where he had been standing. Rose was excited, she got up and raced to the door, she unlocked the door with a trick she had learned, and together the rabbit and Rose ran out of the tower and into the woods. Soon enough, Rose tripped, and fell. But she didn't hit hard ground, she felt like she was floating, and when she opened her eyes Rose saw that she had fallen down a rabbit hole. But the white rabbit was no where to be seen, and Rose continued to fall until she felt grass beneath her.
Rose got up from her fall and wiped the dirt off her blue dress, "Hello? White rabbit?" She asked into the distant darkness, a cold feeling crept up her spine, she felt like she was being watched. Something there just didn't feel right.... "Hello. Alice."
