Intermission/Secret Story

AN: The first half of this story is complete! I hope you're enjoying it! The second half will include more characters we're familiar with, some more songs, and even one animation! Can't wait to see you there!

Here's a small secret part of the story. Takes place way back, nine months before Dimentio was born:

The other man snuck back home in the dark of the night. He snuck back into his home as everyone else was asleep. Or so he thought.

Leal: "Azai?"

The other man, Azai, quickly jumped.

Azai: "Wh- Oh, Leal. It's just you. What are you doing up??"

Leal: "I could ask you the same thing."

Leal gave his friend a concerned look.

Leal: "You snuck out again..... didn't you. You snuck out to see that girl."

Azai: "Whaaaaaaat? Pffft, no...."

Leal looked around, before grabbing his friend's hand and bringing them into a small closet.

Leal: "Azai, you can't keep doing this. Please. You're going to get caught! I can't just stand by and watch you continue to risk your life. You have A WIFE! A-AND A SON!"

Azai: "Leal, please. You know I don't belong here. I'm not happy here. But when I leave, when I'm with her.... I'm happy."

Leal pinched the bridge of his nose and looked down.

Leal: "Please. Think of your family. The tribe is going to find out, and when they do, do you know what they'll do to you?! You have a son that needs you. You can't keep doing this.

Azai: "But-"

Leal: "No! Please, Azai..... you're my best friend, but enough is enough. I let it slide the first few times, but I can't keep covering this up for you. You have to stop. Promise me you'll stop!"

Azai looked down.

Leal: "Please. Do it for me. For your family."

Azai: "But.... I don't love my wife. Yes, she's kind and beautiful, but I just don't love her. I never have."

Leal: "Azai, please. I can't let you sneak out again. Think of your son. He's only two years old. He needs you!"

Azai: "But-"

Leal: "NO! I'm putting my foot down! I hate to do this, but I can't let you continue this. If....if you leave to see her again, I'll be forced to tell the tribe of your actions.

Azai: "WHAT?! Leal, no! You know how mad they'll be?! Please, you're my best friend.

Leal: "Then please, just stay."

Azai sighed and clenched his fists.

Azai: "....fine. I won't go anymore. Happy?"

Leal: "Yes."

Azai turned and left the closet, leaving Leal all alone. Leal sighed, before covering his face with his hands. Azai had been his best friend for as long as he could remember, and he hated doing this, but what Azai was doing was highly forbidden, and needed to be stopped.

Azai listened to his friend, and stayed away. For about three years, everyday he longed to leave, but the thought of Leal telling would always stop him.

He always felt guilty whenever he was with his wife and son. Yes, there were good moments, but he always felt like he didn't belong in this family. He was basically forced by his parents to marry. He had been waiting for a way out of it, but then she became pregnant. After that, there was no easy escape. He was trapped, and unprepared for the responsibility of having a son. He was fairly young, about 20 at the moment, and still felt like he wasn't ready to put down roots.

As a teenager, Azai was adventurous, funny, and a real charmer. Leal had always been smarter, more timid, and more of a rule follower. For their whole lives, their friendship always worked out, but Leal was finding it harder to deal with Azai's rulebreaking. He was really starting to push it, and Leal was growing very concerned for his best friend's safety.

Azai couldn't get rid of the feeling that he didn't belong. He didn't love his wife. He was just living something he didn't even want, and eventually it grew to be too much. As years past and as time went on, he grew more and more desperate. He just wanted a way out. An escape. He quickly grabbed a small bag and packed a few important belongings. Once night fell, he snuck out his house and started walking off in the dark of the night.

Azai: "I just have to see her one more time."

He continued walking, when he rounded a corner and ran into Leal, of course.

Leal: "Azai, what are you doing?"

He asked, with a genuinely confused look on his face. He eyed Azai's bag, and his face shifted from confused to horrified.

Leal: "Oh, nonononono, Azai, what is this??"

Azai pushed Leal aside and continued forward.

Azai: "I'm leaving. I don't belong here."

Leal shook his head and ran in front of his friend.

Leal: "Azai, let's be rational here! Think of your son! You can't just leave!"

Azai: "Watch me. I just want to be happy."

He shoved Leal down.

Azai: "If you're not with me, you're in my way. You of all people understand that I need to do this. I don't want to live the life others have planned for me."

Leal winced in pain and looked up at his friend.

Leal: "You've....you've lost your mind! Azai, listen to me! You can't just run away!"

Azai sighed, before running onward.

Leal: "AZAI, COME BACK!"

He stood up, and was about to chase after his friend, but Azai was already running off.

Leal: "Azai...."

He suddenly turned, and did the only thing he could think of. The thing he was technically required to do, but never did, since Azai was his friend. But this had gone to far. He couldn't keep watching his friend do this. This would tear his family apart!

He told the tribe.

Leal: "Sorry Azai...."

Azai walked a long ways, all the way back to that house. The one where the beautiful woman he would see lived. He didn't care about being caught at the moment. He just wanted to see her.

However, when he got to the window, and peered inside, he saw no one was inside. Suddenly, he heard some bells. He turned and ran towards the sound, making himself invisible in the process so no one would see him.

He ran over to the found to see..... a funeral.

At it, was a man holding an infant child, and another child, who looked to be about two years old, crying and clutching onto the Man's leg.

Then, suddenly, he was her. She was lying in an open casket.

Azai's eyes went wide as his heart shattered. What was going on. Was she....she....

Azai: "N-no....."

He slowly stepped back, stepping on a twig, causing the two year old child to look in his direction. He froze, but knowing he was invisible, he wasn't worried.

However, the two year child somehow registered his presence.

Young child: "D-Daddy, there's a man back there,"

The two year old child spoke, tugging on the man's shirt.

Man: "Dimentio, hush. Now is not the time for your childish nonsense.

The young child softly waved, causing Azai to freak out. He really could see him?! This child looked strange. Grey skin, and a glowing yellow eye. Didn't look quite human, but not quite ancient either.

Azai immediately turned and ran. He was wishing he didn't leave home. He wanted to forget this. He wanted this to just be a bad dream. She couldn't be dead.

He ran back home, but when he arrived, he saw the tribe elders standing there, waiting for him. He gave a confused look.

Azai: "Uhh, can I help you?"

They all exchanged glances, before one spoke out.

Tribe Member: "We need to have a....chat with you, Azai."

Azai: "What- What is the meaning of this?"

Leal suddenly stepped forward, having a look of guilt on his face.

Leal: "Azai....I-I'm sorry."

Azai: "Leal....?"

Suddenly, two tribe members grabbed him and started dragging him away.

Azai: "What?! No! NO! LEAL! HELP! LEAL!"

Leal squeezed his eyes shut and tilted his head down, clenching his fists.

Leal: "I'm sorry. This is for....this is for your own good."

Azai was dragged away, kicking and screaming.

And he was never the same.

The beatings he received, the pain it caused, he was punished the deepest of punishments. After all, he had broken the Tribe's biggest rule. He fooled around with a human. He risked bringing an impure into this world. He was mentally and physically punished, to make sure he'd never do something of the such again.

No one knows what they did to him, but once he was though, he was different. He was sent back to his family, as if nothing had happened.

Leal met him as he walked back home.

Leal: "A-are you okay? Azai, I-I'm so sorry, but I had to tell them. I-I had to! It's the rules, and you were going to far! Please, I-"

Azai: "It's fine. You....did the right thing."

Leal gave him a confused look.

Leal: "Huh? Y-you're not mad?"

Azai had a blank look on his face.

Azai: "I broke our rules. I meddled with a human. We are above them. The only thing I'm mad about....is the fact that you let me continue seeing her."

Leal: "What?"

Azai: "Not telling our tribe right away once I began to step out of line is treason, and should be punished, don't you agree, Leal?"

Leal took a step back. His friend was beginning to scare him.

Leal: "I...I was just trying to be a good friend. I-"

Azai: "They punished me. I learned my lesson.... but I don't think you did."

Leal: "What?"

Azai suddenly smiled a somewhat insane smile. He waved his hand, causing two invisible hands to wrap around his friend's throat. Azai had always been very strong when it came to Magic.

Azai: "I think you deserve some punishment as well."

Leal began to squirm as he was lifted into the air.

Leal: "Azai....what are you doing?!"

He choked out that last sentence, as his breathing became shallow.

Azai: "Just what needs to be done."

Leal: "Azai....please."

Suddenly, Azai clenched his fist. The invisible hands around Leal's neck squeezed harder, until a loud crack was heard. He released, and Leal fell to the ground.

Azai: "This is for your own good."

He smiled, before waving his hand and turning, causing Leal's body to disappear.

Azai: "Sorry, old friend."

He walked into his house, to see his son, now five years old, sitting at the window.

His son turned to face him, a happy glow in his eye.

Son: "Daddy! Thank goodness you're back!"

He ran up and hugged his father. Azai ignored this and pushed his son away, before walking to bed.

Azai: "Yes. I'm home, Blu."
