For Good
Tippi: "Dimmy.... I remember you now."
He slowly looked down. He hoped this wouldn't happen.
Dimentio: "Timpani....I-"
Tippi: "Can I at least talk to you. The real you. Not this masked jester."
Dimentio: "I.... we have to stop Blumiere. You know what has to happen."
She sighed.
Tippi: "You don't have to make this harder! Can't you just let Mario and his brother, Luis, go!?"
Dimentio: "That's not his name.... and you know that if we don't end Blumiere's game, the void will consume all."
Tippi: "That can't be true. We can still save him. I know it."
Dimentio: "You have to destroy the one in control of the Chaos heart to close the void, Timpani. You have to. He's gonna have to die."
Tippi: "No! We'll find another way. Dimmy, I won't spend any more time without him. Now that I remember....I'm not gonna lose him again."
Dimentio sighed and looked at his hands.
Dimentio: "If....If you and the heroes join me....we could take him down. Quick and easy. Almost painlessly."
Tippi: "I'm not gonna let that happen. Dimmy, please. I know you've been secretly helping us all along. But, I'm not gonna let the heroes join you so you can kill him. I won't let Blumiere die."
He squeezed his eyes shut.
Dimentio: "You.... really do love him?"
Timpani: "Yes. More than anything."
He sighed.
It was Blumiere or him.
And she chose Blumiere.
It kinda hurt. No, it REALLY hurt.
But...he promised.
Dimentio: "....You're right. Timpani,"
He looked at her, and inhaled sharply.
Dimentio: "Timpani, whatever happens, just play along."
Tippi: "What?"
Dimentio: "I'm in too deep now. The void is huge. I need to keep playing the role of the wicked Jester, and I need you to play along."
Tippi: "No! Dimmy, I remember now. I'll come clean about you. I'll tell everyone that you were only doing what you thought was right! You won't have to hide behind that mask anymore-"
Dimentio: "NO!"
The Pixl flinched ever so slightly. Dimentio's eyes softened.
She was... afraid of him.
He took a deep breath.
Dimentio: "No.... Please. Don't try to clear my name. It'll only ruin your reputation. Promise me you won't try to clear my name."
Tippi: "I don't care what they think!"
Dimentio: "Well I do. Promise me."
Tippi: "Dimmy-"
Dimentio: "PROMISE ME!!!"
Tippi: "Okay! Okay. I promise.... what are you doing?"
He sighed. He had no idea, but he had to figure it out fast.
Dimentio: "....Changing my plans, yet again. Timpani....I'm gonna get you your happy ending."
Tippi: "You're....what?"
Dimentio: "If....if you change your mind about Blumiere, I'll give you one chance. When.... when I ask you and the heroes to join me, if you agree, then he'll be destroyed and the void will close. If you disagree....then I'll go with plan B. But I need to to play along, Okay?"
Tippi: "Dimmy, what does that mean?"
He sighed, and looked down at his hands.
Tippi: "Dimmy...what's wrong? Dimmy, look at me."
He looked up at her.
Tippi: "How....how long have you been wearing that mask."
He let out a small chuckle.
Dimentio: "Too long."
She fluttered closer.
Tippi: "Please, Dimmy. I love him. And I need to save him."
Dimentio sighed.
Dimentio: "I know...."
Tippi: "Things aren't set in stone. Everyone can be happy."
He thought about the prophecy. Someone would have to die.
Dimentio: "No...."
He looked down to the side.
(AN: Music Start)
Dimentio: "I'm limited....
Just look at me.
I'm limited....
And just look at you,
You can do all I couldn't do,
Timpani."
He sighed and slowly raised his hand to his masked face.
Dimentio: "So now it's up to you....
For both of us."
He slowly took his mask off, for the first time in years.
Dimentio: "Now it's up to you...."
She looked at the black and white mask in his hands. He faced away from her.
Dimentio felt a pain rise in his chest. When did things become so limited?
He looked down, knowing what was coming for him in the near future.
It hurt. Was this what he was fated for? All his life, he dreamed of a happy ending.
But now that dream couldn't be further from him.
Tippi: ".....I've heard it said,
That people come into our lives,
For a reason.
Bringing something we must learn.
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow.
If we let them
And we help them in return....
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true,
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you...."
She took a deep breath.
Tippi: "Like a comet pulled from orbit,
As it passes a sun"
Dimentio's eyes went wide. Was that...a simile?
Tippi: "Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood....
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But,
Because I knew you...."
He slowly turned to face her, and softly smiled.
Her eyes went wide. It has been so long since she's seen his face.
Tippi: "I have been changed ,
For good...."
Dimentio slowly looked down at the mask in his hands.
Dimentio: "It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end,
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend...."
He snapped his fingers and teleported the two to the base of the cliffs. He pointed out to the ocean, where a small ship was sailing.
Dimentio: "Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea...."
He pointed to the birds flying overhead, the soft ocean breeze blowing against him.
Dimentio: "Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood...."
He brought them back to Castle Bleck.
Dimentio: "Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But,
Because I knew you...."
Tippi: "Because I knew you...."
Both: "I have been changed for good...."
Dimentio: "And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done you blame me for."
Tippi fluttered closer.
Tippi: "But then, I guess we know there's blame to share...."
Both: "And none of it seems to matter anymore...."
Tippi: "Like a comet pulled from orbit,"
Dimentio: "Like a ship blown from its mooring,"
Tippi: "As it passes a sun...."
Dimentio: "By a wind off the sea,"
Tippi: "Like a stream that meets a boulder,"
Dimentio: "Like a seed dropped by a bird,"
Tippi: "Halfway through the wood...."
Dimentio: "In the wood...."
Both: "Who can say....
If I've been changed for the better...."
Dimentio looked down as he felt a tear roll down his face.
Both: "I do believe I have been changed for the better...."
He let out a breath.
Tippi: "And... because I knew you."
He looked down at his mask.
Dimentio: "Because I knew you...."
....
Both: "Because I knew you....
I have been changed...."
He slowly buried his face in his hands and quietly sobbed. At this moment, he wished nothing more than to be back at school, before he was labeled as wicked. He wanted to go back to those simpler times.
Tippi fluttered over and sat on his shoulder. He slowly turned his head to look at her.
Both: "For....
Good......."
