Alyssa

alyssa

"I'm sorry maybe I'm hearing you wrong. Because I thought I just heard you say that you wanted me to spy on the competition."

How was that supposed to work when everyone in town knew what I looked like? Ally thought to herself.

alyssa went back to stirring the clam chowder. if she let it sit, it would brown on the bottom and get burned. and there was nothing worse than a burned soup.

(boss's name) motioned for his head chef to be quiet. "Shh. Lower your voice. No one can know I was involved."

alyssa shook her head at the man. when he first came into the back end of the restaurant, alyssa could have sworn he was up to no good. he usually would eat a bowl of calamari spaghetti or take xander up on test trying one of his chocolate sou fleas. but this idea? alyssa hated the competition just as much as (boss name) but going into the restaurant and stealing ideas? that went against alyssas moral code.

surely (boss name) could see that. right?

Alyssa looked from her boss to the ticket receipts that were hanging on the stainless countertop. She scooped out a piece of bread and started spooning soup into it. then, she garnished the plate with oyster crackers on the side and put the top piece back on the bread and told the waiter which table number the soup belonged to. then she turned her attentiojn back to the stove top.

(Alyssa boss name) smiled. alyssa rolled her eyes. "It's a genius idea! We need this Alysson. I don't know if you know this but the season has been slow. That seaside bar and grill might have a cocktail bar and a wacky chef but we have something they don't. We have loyal customers that have been coming for generations."

"so why don't we rely onwhat we havefor years? obviously we are doing something right if they keep coming back." alyssa pointed out.

(boss's name) was right about one thing. alyssa hated to admit it, but the only reason they were open was because of their loyal clientele. it was one of the many things she thought she could change when she first started. unfortunately they lived fifteen minutes away from the big city where cuisine chefs ate the little guys like chef alyssa as a side of orange with breakfast.

"alyssa. please. my marriage cant handle another failed restaurant. I need this. you need this."

ally narrowed her eyes at the man. "me? what would I get out of this besides a ruined reputation?!" she whisper/yelled.

(boss name) smiled. "youre own restaurant."

alysson did a double take."say that again?"

he nodded his head. "that's right. all we need is to wipe out the competition. my (wifes name) wants to retire and move someplace where its always warm.

We want to become margaretta people with the umbrella. we were gunna tell you when the time was right. but we cant retire if the place keeps going the way it has."

alyssa shook her head. "damnit (boss name). you coulda told me something was wronog with the books. I coulda helped."

"how? thisismy fault. plus, (wife) wouldn't want any of our employees to know. you know youre more than a head chef. youre part of the family. but we were just too ashamed to tell ya kiddo."

he shrugged."well now you know." he grinned. "so what do you say? will you help youre uncle(boss name) out?"

alyssa sighed. "you know I will." What damage would it cause alyssa to take a peek inside the new restaruarnt that had everybody thrilled. Cobblestone frairites and big city people alike.
