Chapter 5

Frankie

Parcetamol. Advil. Water.

Those were the only things I thought about as I made my way to the drug store.

Parcetamol. Advil. Water.

After a wild night out yesterday, I ended up passing out in Mike's garage. Of course, when I woke up, it was around 4am and my head was pounding like nobody's business. I looked around and immediately panicked. Scared out of my mind that I didn't know where I was, but the familiarity of the house hit me and slowly it all rushed back to me.

When I got home, which was around 6am, Sacari, surprisingly wasn't shocked at my timing, but she explained how there was no Advil, or Paracetamol or any headache medication, so as a punishment, she's making me walk to the drug store to get some.

So now here I am, in the most decent outfit I could find, my hair in a bun, and my glasses, because my vision got a little blurry this morning.

When I finally got to the drug store, my eyes went wide at the massive gather around it. There were people everywhere who looked just as hangover as I was. What I didn't get though, is why everyone was crowded around this store, there has to be more stores around right?

I made my way in between kids, teenagers, even adults, just to find a decent spot to stand at, where it wasn't crowded. The only place I could find was near a hot chocolate stand, it wasn't too crowded, but good enough for me.

"May I suggest a cocoa while you wait?" said the man behind the stand, well, he looked more like a 14 year old to be honest.

"When I'm done getting what I need first." I laughed, but immediately regretted it, when a thump went off in my head, making me wince.

"A yank? Damn, what brings you all the way here?" The "man" said, eyes wide.

"It's a long story dude. And how much are one of those?" I asked pointing to the muffin, slowly taking a seat on the concrete.

"They're a pound-fifty and the cocoa's are a pound, if you get them with caramel or whipped cream, they're two pounds." he replied.

"I need one right now, but I only have fifteen on me, and I don't know how much an Advil is so, I can't-" I started, but was cut off.

"I'll take care of that." A new voice interrupted, adding to the conversation, I looked to my the source of the sound, and saw a brunette boy, who looked roughly around my age, who had blue eyes.

I quickly stopped the stranger. He looked quite familiar, but I don't think we've properly met, and if we have I definitely don't remember.

"No offense, but I don't know you, and I can't let a stranger by me a drink." I said, trying to sound as less rude as possible.

"You know me, you just don't remember me." the stranger said again.

"You look familiar." I spoke once more.

"Don't need to remember me for me to buy you a hot chocolate."

I couldn't even reply, because I don't know this guy and right now, he's being generous, and I can't deny it, considering I'm starving.

I watched as he ordered for me, and I took in his appearance. Black jeans, jean jacket, black vans, and a white shirt under. Though his arms were covered, they weren't covered all the way, so I could see a few tattoos decorating his hand.

He turned back to me with a hot chocolate and muffin in hand, and dropped the bag on my lap, and leaving the cocoa by my side.

"Careful, its hot." With that, he put on a pair of sunglasses, even though it was cloudy as hell right now, and walked across the street.

"Friend of yours?"

"I feel like I know him, but I can't recognize him." I said, rubbing my temples in confusion at what just happened.

"You're really out of it. Were you at the 'Mike on the roof' yesterday?" He asked, realization, crossing his features.

I nodded, with a mouth full of muffin.

"That's why. Mike and I have beef now, we don't talk anymore, so I don't go to his parties."He explained.

I didn't really want to ask what happened between the two, considering it was none of my business, so I didn't push the topic further.

"I'm Frankie." I smiled at him.

"Kingsley. You go to Chester?" He asked.

"I like your name, and yeah, I go to Chester. Do you?" I replied.

"I do, I'm in my final year. How come I don't see you around?"

"I'm new, so I'm keeping it low key for a bit."

"That's cool, but hey, if you want to get that Advil quick, you need to go now, cause it just cleared up a little." Kingsley pointed out.

My head snapped from him to the direction of the store, making a little thump blow up in my head. Nevertheless, I scampered up from my place in the concrete, and quickly swallowed the cocoa in my mouth.

"Nice meeting you Kingsley, see you in school!" I rushed, and didn't even wait for a reply, before rushing out to cross the street.

**

"That will be 12 pounds and 50p please." The perky red-head behind the counter said.

I handed her the full fifteen and took the bag of the counter. She handed me back my change and a receipt.

I thanked her one more time and mad my way out of the store. When I looked outside, I saw Kingsley, but he wasn't alone. In fact, he looked to be having a very heated conversation, with another boy, who's back was turned, so all I could make out was  the back of his raven coloured hair.

I didn't want to interrupt, but I didn't have any water on me, so I had to ask Kingsley of he had a bottle.

"You want to know how many fucks I give, none. I want my fucking money-" The boy was cut off, by Kingsley noticing me and sending a nervous look my way.

"Frankie! Can I help you?" He asked nervously, making the unknown boy's head snap in my direction. I couldn't get a full view on him, due to him wearing sunglasses as well.

"I don't mean to interrupt, I just want a water bottle, if you sell some." I said, trying to ignore the feeling of eyes burning into the side of my head.

"I do actually, it's 50p." He said, bringing out a water bottle from his cart.

He hesitantly handed it to me, well aware of the stranger, on the right. I gave him the 50p coin, and glanced awkwardly at the other guy one more time, before waving a small goodbye to Kingsley, continuing to walk down the street.

The feeling of eyes though,

Never went away.
