Tesla didn't even pry when I saw him at dinner. He kissed me and took his ceremonial bite. I wasn't very hungry but I nibbled at my plate and stayed quiet.

It was a full moon night so Whyk and Barric ran amok. They spent the night mating and being wild. It was perfect for me to actually just relax in the background. I just thought about Tesla all night as I ignored the werewolf freaks.

We shifted as the sun rose and my alpha mate picked me up in his arms and walked home. Home. I loved the sound of that word. Tesla's home felt like mine. He was my home. He was my everything.

We were in the shower when Tesla finally talked. "Are you okay, Baby?" He touched my face.

I sighed as I watched him. He cared about us. "Uh, just trying to... not be scared." I was still scared.

Tesla nodded. "I get it. I don't know what happened to you but I know about being scared."

"Really?" I stared at the rock hard man in my shower. My alpha knows what it's like to be scared?

Tesla chuckled. "Of course, Baby." We got out and dried off as Tesla talked. "When I was told a rogue was killing humans close by, I was scared for the humans. Don't worry. I sent my warriors and they found the rogues. Two of them. They are in custody right now so don't worry."

"Anyway, I caught your scent when Hope was checking your story. Alabama swore that you were innocent. Heston told me that you weren't talking and wouldn't shift and I was so scared because I knew that you were mine."

Tesla looked at us. "I didn't know for sure if you were innocent or not and I was scared that the goddesses sent me some murderous crazy werewolf. Hope reassured me that you weren't but she was worried about you."

"The second I walked into that room with you, it scared me too. I loved you so much in that second. I could feel Barric. He knew the were was his mate. I knew it too."

Tesla touched my face. "I was so worried. I was mated to a stranger and that scared me also. When I smelled your hair the first time, I was in love, Mars. I loved you. But I couldn't trust you just yet."

I smiled at him. "I know. I didn't trust you either. Strangers are so scary." I sighed. "Tesla?"

"Mars?" Tesla smiled that sexy smile at me.

"I have an appointment with Hope in an hour, can you join me? I don't want to tell the rest of my story twice. Please?" I was scared that he would be too busy. "If you're too busy..."

"Baby..." He pulled me close. "I am never too busy for you. Okay?"

I smiled into those pretty blue eyes. "Okay." I sighed. "It's gonna be tough and having you there would make it easier."

We were sitting on the couch in Hope's office again with the recorder sitting there, again. Whyk sat in the back for support. I loved him too and told him that.

I know where we left off so I continued. I felt a little braver with Tesla beside me.

"My brother, Sam, he was fifteen and my uncle, Beau, my dad's older brother..." I inhaled. "We were spending the night with Uncle Beau. It was the fight that my father and I had. He didn't agree with it. He wanted us to stay home. I should have listened."

"My dad didn't like his brother but he was a fun uncle. He was fun to hang around. It was all normal. We watched a funny movie and ate popcorn. We stayed up until midnight because my dad would have hated that."

I paused and looked at my hands. "My uncle loved us and he was fun to hang out with. He was a little wild and loved to gamble but I never knew how much."

I paused and took a breath. Tesla took my hand and kissed it. "Thanks, Honey." I smiled at him and looked at my knee as I continued. "So, it was really late when our uncle dragged us out of bed. I was half asleep as he drove us to some barn two counties over. I could hear loud noises, shouting. A lot of men were shouting. I knew this wasn't good."

"My brother, Sam asked what was going on and our uncle smirked. He said they needed fresh meat and dragged us in the building. My step mom was there. She had a fist full of money. She was taking bets."

"That was the first time I saw a werewolf. He was gray and mean. I didn't know at the time. It was scary." I inhaled as Whyk consoled me. "So, Sam was shaking too. We knew something wasn't right here. Uncle Beau shoved him into the cage first. The fight started as I stared in shock. That thing killed Sam... in seconds" I was in tears now. My brother... "I was sure this wasn't real at first. I wasn't actually seeing this. Was I? My mind didn't want to believe it."

I cleared my throat and sipped some water that Hope set out for me. "My step mom and uncle were moving money around and cheering too. They were cheering for that thing to kill Sam. They were betting on the seconds that he would last in the ring. I stared at his lifeless body as someone pulled him out and tossed him aside. Like garbage. I knew I was next. I saw part of a metal table leg. I broke it off and took it with me. No one paid attention to me anyway. I knew I was going to be dead."

I paused again. "So...I was shoved in the cage by my trusted uncle." I inhaled. "I slipped on Sam's blood but stood up. I figured if I was going to die, I wouldn't give them any satisfaction of doing nothing. I stood my ground as they shouted and screamed at the beast as it was set loose on me."

I sighed again. Tesla touched my face. "You're safe now, baby." He was so sweet.

"You're sweet, Tesla and I'm glad I have you." I smiled at him as I stayed relaxed. "So, the monster attacked me. Tried to kill me like my brother. I stabbed him with that metal pole as he clawed me. I was knocked out and wounded. I woke up in pain. They dumped our bodies in the city dump."

I took a sharp breath. "Why!" I lost control and cried. Who can blame me? I gained some control and cleared my throat. "Sam and I were close. He was a sweet boy, too sweet to die like that. It was for money! They killed us for the money. Those were people that I trusted. My step mom made breakfast for us all the time and made sure we showered, went to school...she was our mother since we were young."

Tesla gathered me up and hugged me hard. He rubbed my back and consoled me gently as I cried into his neck. How sweet was he? Whyk comforted me too.

Hope watched us and waited patiently. "Could you find this place again?"

I nodded. "If they're still there."

Tesla agreed. "I'm sure they will be. They're getting away with murder and we're not standing by."

I looked up at him. "It's our job, Baby. Okay." He touched my face as I melted into him. "They hurt you, killed your brother and left you for dead. I'm definitely putting a stop to it, Sweetheart."

I was still crying. I couldn't get the tears to stop. "I love you." I sniffed and the tears choked out my voice.
