Dinner With The Pack
Someone was shaking me gently. "Hey, wake up. It's time to eat. Are you hungry?" The beta.
I opened my eyes. "Food?"
He chuckled. "Yes, food. Come on." He helped me up and we walked down stairs. I didn't know we were upstairs. Whyk was fascinated by everything including wallpaper.
We followed the beta to the patio and everyone was there. We froze and started to back up right into the beta.
He smiled. "This is your pack. Calm down. It's safe here. Let's eat."
He pulled us to a table and we sat. I looked at the table as food was set on my plate by a pretty lady. No idea but Whyk said she wasn't our type. I glared at him.
"Eat up, Sweetheart." The woman stated with a smile. She turned to look at the alpha. He took his first bite and everyone followed. Whyk told me about that rule and I was relieved right now. I didn't want to die because I didn't know.
I tasted the meat and Whyk stepped out to his corner of our mind. He curled up for a nap. It was meatloaf and he hated cooked meat. The mash potatoes were yummy and there were three kinds of veggies and a biscuit of some kind. I didn't even come up for air as I ate.
I finished in record time because I was hungry and because we had to eat and run in the wild. I was still surviving. I sniffed the cup. Milk. I moaned as I gulped it down. I hadn't had milk in two years.
"Slow down, Sweetheart. You'll get a stomach ache!" She smiled at me. "I'm Tulip. Heston's mate."
I stared at Tulip. Who in the hell was Heston? Whyk was awake now. "Who in the hell is Heston?" He wanted to know and I shrugged. I had no idea.
Tulip smiled at my confused expression. "Heston! You didn't introduce yourself to this poor child!" She glared at her mate. Whyk said you can tell they are mated because they smell the same.
Heston was the beta. Okay. "What's your name?" Tulip was gentle. I liked her. She was pretty with wavy blonde hair and pretty hazel eyes. She had the cutest button nose. She was a doll.
I cleared my throat. "Uh...Mars." That took a lot.
"Mars. Very nice name. Strong name. Mars." Tulip smiled. "Right, Heston?"
Heston nodded. "It's a good name. Is that your werewolf's name or..."
I shook my head and used hand motions and pointed at my chest. My throat hurt.
"Your birth name?" Heston got it. I nodded. "Now we're getting somewhere. I know that Tulip is far less scary."
I nodded again as Heston chuckled. My eyes moved to the alpha werewolf who was staring at me.
"The alpha's name is Tesla. Okay?" Heston commented without me asking. I nodded. It was tough taking my eyes off him. He was pretty. Handsome. Sexy. Manly. He was tall and big. Muscular. His hair was dark and slightly shaggy. His eyes were dark blue. But his smile brightened the outdoors.
"You're cheesy, Mars!" Whyk accused me.
I smiled. "Can't help it. He's perfect and it's true."
Heston watched me and I didn't even realize. "Are you okay?"
I jumped. I forgot there were people here. There was mostly the alpha. Tesla. I wanted to moan. Whyk melted. I nodded at Heston. I was just great.
"How about a walk?" Heston wiped his face and set the napkin on his plate. I followed him away from the group.
Everyone was already getting up as well. Dinner was over. We walked around the house. It was the pack house or the Alpha's house. Heston called it Tesla's house. It was where I was staying for now.
When we were beneficial to the pack, we got a house and if we were lucky, a mate. I had to find my place. Our place. I had no idea. Heston stopped at a barber shop. "How about a haircut?"
