41~ All just a fear

>Emma's pov<

"Well..." I started, glancing around the dream world. Nervous about being watched. Very few people knew about this, actually only my Pokemon knew. "This all happened when I still lived with my father, I was about five... or maybe six... when he came home drunk one night from 'work'. It was really late so I'd already taken myself to bed like I usually did when he was late..." I paused and Night waited patiently for me to continue. "When he got home my father literally dragged me from my bed and down to our basement. It was pitch black down there and since I was still pretty young the dark was a natural fear as it is for most kids around my age." I paused again as the painful memories came back. "He let out two of his Pokémon, a Pawniard and Galvantualla and he left me down there for the whole night, the two Pokemon beat and electrocuted me almost the entire time." I bit my lip, forcing back tears. "After that, I was pretty much left traumatised of the dark. He did it more than once, eventually Pawniard evolved into Bisharp which made it worse. I eventually got to the point where being in the dark just terrified me beyond anything. I couldn't stand in and my nerves get really jumpy and I fell as the two Pokemon are about to jump out at me. I've tried everything to get over the fear, but no matter what I do the dark terrifies me." I looked down at my hands still forcing back tears as the memories played over and over.

Night was silent a look of pity, sorrow and anger on her face. "He... He really did that?" She asked.

I nodded and pulled up the sleeve of my left arm showing her the scars. I pointed to the largest one, running from just under my neck down my shoulder and stopped just above my wrist. "This was the worst one I could have died from blood loss but Crescent heard my crying and came to rescue me." I smiled when I remembered the small Pokemon.

We were both quiet, the only sound was our breathing.

"Why did you give Crescent to Destiny?" Night asked, trying to change the subject, much to my relief.

I thought about the question. "When the child services came I was put strait into the foster system, without ant time to adjust to what had happen. The first family I lived with didn't like certain Pokemon in their house. There was no way I could keep Crescent so I gave her to Destiny because I knew she would keep her safe and take good care of her." I said quietly.

"That must of been rough."Night said quietly. "You must of been really scared."

I nodded but didn't say anything for a moment. "I often wonder what life would be like if none of that ever happened. Where I would be now, if I'd know the people I know now."

Night nodded and we both stayed quiet.

"Welp, I'd say its about morning soooo..." Night trailed off and the world started to fade as I started to wake up.

.*.*.

A few hours after I woke up I was stubbornly being held up by Blade as I once again attempted to walk even though I was technically still to weak to be even trying.

~I still don't get why you're wanting to do this so bad. You should be resting.~ Blade said.

"As I said, I'm sick of playing the damsel in distress part of this story so I'm going to beat it."

~Right.~ He sighed at my stubbornness. ~You know, there is more to this book then you being the damsel in distress, right?~

"Yeah, you breaking the fourth wall."

~Oh... er... umm...~

I rolled my eyes and let go of his arm. I wobbled for a moment but stayed upright, good...

I tried to step forward but tripped into Blade's arms.

I'm seriously gonna beat the crap outta those scientists if I ever meet them face-to-face. Who's with me on that?

Blade sat me on the floor. ~Emma this isn't a good idea. You're going to hurt yourself. You need to rest longer.~

"No Blade. I've rested for like a month. I'm not going to get better lying around doing nothing all day."

Blade sighed in annoyance. ~Well I'm not going to help you so you're stuck.~

"Then I'll do it myself." I said angrily trying to stand on my own but stopped and winced when pain shot thought my arms.

I crossed arms and gave Blade a seriously pissed off look. "I don't like you." I pouted, having a two-year-old moment.

~Well I like you. So I'm not going to let you hurt yourself.~

"But I want to stop lying around all day." I whined.

Blade sighed angrily. ~Emma, get your ass off the ground and into your sleeping bag or I will force you.~

"What happened to I'm to weak to walk hmm?" I teased triumphantly.

Blade face palmed. ~You know what I mean.~

"You two fight as much as and old married couple." Silver said walking over to us.

"Silver, Blade's being a bully." I pouted like I did when we were kids.

"Sorry I'm on Blade's side here."

I crossed my arms. "Everyone's working against me."

"No everyone's working with you."

"Then tell Blade I'm strong enough to walk."

Silver picked me up bridle style and sat me in my sleeping bag. "Sorry but you're not strong enough yet."

I gave him a pouty face.

"Sorry Em, I just want what's best for you."

I stuck my tongue out at him and he rolled his eyes.

"I'm just gonna get up again. You know that right?" I said in a smart ass tone.

"I know, which is why I'm not leaving your side."

I crossed my arms and pouted but unfortunately Silver can be just as stubborn as me and didn't move.

"I seriously dislike you sometimes." I glared.

"I know, but that's what a big brothers for."

I stuck my tongue out again and he responded by once again rolling his eyes.

I sighed, not being able to think of anything better to do, I picked up my guitar and started to play a song I could play with my eyes closed.

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go"
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window, darling,
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold on to this lullaby
Even when music's gone
Gone...

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La la la la
La la la la
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
Oooh, Oooh, Oooh, Oooh
La la la la

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...

Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh oh oh.

I sighed, getting over my little childish act and switched to a different tune I knew.

Dry lightning cracks across the skies
Those storm clouds gather in her eyes
Her daddy was a mean old mister
Mama was an angel in the ground
The weather man called for a twister
She prayed blow it down

There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past
Shatter every window 'til it's all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'Til there's nothing left standing, nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away

She heard those sirens screaming out
Her daddy laid there passed out on the couch
She locked herself in the cellar
Listened to the screaming of the wind
Some people call it taking shelter
She called it sweet revenge

Shatter every window 'til it's all blown away,
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'Til there's nothing left standing, nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,
Blown away
There's not enough rain in Oklahoma
To wash the sins out of that house
There's not enough wind in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the past

Shatter every window 'til it's all blown away
Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away
'Til there's nothing left standing, nothing left of yesterday
Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away,

Blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away, blown away.

I could feel Silver's eyes on me as I finished the song but kept my eyes focused on the strings of my guitar as I played the tune over without singing the words. I'd known the song since I was six and knew it off by heart.

The tension in the air was strong, well until Night bounded over happily.

"Ello!" She smiled in her get-ready-to-get-annoyed-to-hell tone.

"What do you want?" I said bordly.

"I want a lot of things, half of them I don't think I'll ever get a posable thumbs would be nice."

I sighed. Night although dependable when needed, will always be Night.
