Kaicius

As the purple haze faded it revealed that I was back in the same warehouse that I had been in before with Kian. I looked around as the sound of somebody crying caught my attention.

I followed the sound to the far corner of the room, past piles of wooden crates and abandoned machinery. The dim early morning light made it hard to see things until it was too late. I cracked my knee on the side of a large metal pipe and almost fell flat on my ass as I tripped over a half-broken crate.

Then I saw him.

Kian was on the floor, his legs pulled up to his chest as he leaned against a stack of crates. He had his head buried in his arms, so all I could see was his dirt-covered hair.

"Kian?" I said as I kneeled down in front of him.

Nothing... no reaction at all. Crap. I was reminded of when Jonathan had separated my soul from my body to stop my transformation. I was no more than an echo here.

Kian looked up, his eyes red and swollen from crying. He looked around the room, his face pale and scared. I wanted to give him a hug so badly... it was horrible to see him scared and alone like this.

Nobody had been there for him...

"No..." he said softly "I won't listen to you! I won't!"

What the fuck was going on here?

"I am not mad... I am not!"

My heart broke as I caught on to what was happening... Kian was hearing the thoughts of the people passing by the warehouse.

He was born with the gift... the demon hadn't been lying. I couldn't imagine how that would have affected him, but I guess that I understood why he had run away and isolated himself from society. It was too much for him to cope with.

Then I watched as a black gaseous substance floated through the warehouse towards Kian.

The demon... it had to be! I watched as it formed into a semi-human figure, its eyes glowing like fiery rubies and a wide, evil smile.

"Kian..." It said in a soft voice "Kian..."

"Leave him alone!" I shouted, but neither of them paid me any attention.

Shit! All I could do was watch on as Kian slowly lifted his head up. As he saw the figure he jumped up.

"Keep away from me, demon!" He shouted as he picked up a broken piece of wood from one of the crates.

The demon laughed at him and raised a black shadowy, clawed hand. As it did the piece of wood flew out of Kian's hands. He cried out in pain as it was ripped from his grasp. The wood then hovered in front of him for a moment before suddenly bursting into flames. It stayed in place a moment before dropping to the ground with a loud crash.

"Now that I have your attention..." the demon smiled "You are very interesting to me, Kian, the gift you have is one of a kind."

"You mean the voices?" Kian asked "I hear them in my head all the time. Trust me, it's not a gift."

"You are a conduit," It explained "You are able to hear the inner thoughts of others, you can know the secrets that nobody else is able to. That is a gift."

"It's not. People are scared of me! They think I've been possessed by the Devil. They look at me like I'm mad!"

At Kian's words, the demon smiled even more wildly. I had no fucking idea what was going to happen, but I knew that it wasn't going to be anything good.

"Oh, you're not mad, just misunderstood. I could help you if you wanted me to."

"How?" Kian asked confused.

"I can share your burden, make it easier for you to have a normal life. All you need to do is let me in."

"You mean, let you possess me?" Kian asked, "I'm not sure..."

"Not possession, more of a mutual arrangement," the demon said "How about a fifty-fifty split?"

Oh, fuck no...

"Say I do agree to this, how does it work exactly?"

"Well," the demon smiled "It's quite simple. You just have to say my name and that you let me in."

"And, what is your name?"

"I am Kaicius, Reaper Of Souls and Prince Of Hell." the demon replied "Now, what do you say? Do we have ourselves a deal? A new partnership for the new dawn."

Kaicius... his name... we have him!

"Kaicius... I let you in."

Crap! This is how it happened... how Kian got possessed. I had never once imagined that he had willingly gone into a deal with a demon. Posessed, sure, but not as a result of the demon sweet-talking him into giving up.

Gah! I hated this! But, at least I had the demon's name now. Kaicius. All I needed was to get back to Victoria so that we could exorcise him the hell out of my Kian!

But, I had absolutely no bloody idea how to do that...

I watched as the smoke that was Kaicius flew down Kian's throat. He threw his head back and his body jerked, his arms and legs kicking uncontrollably, until all of a sudden he stopped still.

As he looked up, his eyes were jet black. Kaicius had control. He looked around the room, before locking his eyes onto mine.

Could he see me? Surely not...

Kaicius walked towards me, his jet black eyes keeping me rooted to the spot until he just walked right through me. It wasn't anything I had felt before. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, I felt sick to my stomach and my head felt like it was going to burst. Once he passed the feeling was immediately gone.

"Let's go and have some fun." Kaicius said as he walked off "Ah, it feels so good to have a body again!"

Whatever Kaicius had done in London after possessing Kian's body... it wasn't going to be good.

But, I had no way out and no bloody idea how to contact Victoria. All I could do was head further into Kian's memories and hope for the best. I ran after Kaicius and followed him out into the street.

As I stepped through the doorway it was suddenly nighttime.

What the fuck?

The Street was deserted, but, I could just about see two figures through the fog in the distance. One was laying on the ground while the other knelt over, I saw the glint of a knife as the person on top pulled out the weapon.

Oh, shit...

Even though I knew that there was nothing I could do I found myself running toward them.

As I reached the pair I realised that I was already too late. The woman on the floor was laying in a pool of blood, already dead. The figure bending over her wore a dark cloak and hood, as he pulled it back to reveal the pale features and long blonde hair of Kian.

Oh, this was not good... holy shit! The blood! So much blood...

I fought the urge to hurl while Kian was looking down at the body with childlike fascination, the blade still wet with blood in his hand. The demon had done this. Kaicius had caused him to become a monster, the one thing that he didn't want to be.

After everything that life had thrown at Kian, this has to be the worst. Then before I knew what was going on Kian was up and sprinting away. I raced after him, not wanting to let him out of my sight.

But, then he ducked into a narrow alleyway in-between the buildings and was gone. I raced after him into the alleyway, but as I turned the corner I was suddenly back in the warehouse, looking at Kian who was lying curled up under the desk where he had made his bed.

The dawn was just breaking and sunlight was streaming down in long lines from the high windows that were sat high in the ceiling.

Then Kian woke up. He looked down at his hands, which were still covered in blood and he looked like he wanted to be sick.

"No...no! You said that you were done!" He said sounding angry and scared "That's five! Five women, Kaicius! I can't do this... I'm waking up to this! It's not fair!"

Holy shit... Kaicius had used Kian to kill five women. I felt sick to my stomach at the thought.

Suddenly Kian's expression changed from being scared to a sickening grin with devilish black eyes. Kaicius was in control.

"Stop your whimpering boy!" he shouted "I helped you by baring the load of your abilities. So what if I want to have a little fun? I'm entitled to it! I've made you famous! Jack The Ripper! Ha! If only they knew..."

Jack The Ripper... is that what I had seen back in the alleyway? The demon inside of Kian had caused all of that horror and death... then Kaicius yelled out in pain and held his head, when he stopped and let go his eyes were back to normal.

"I won't let you hurt any more people..." Kian said "Nobody else is going to die because of me!"

"Alec!"

Victoria's voice sounded like she was shouting at me from across a football pitch, but I heard her.

"Focus in on my voice, I'm going to bring you out," she said.

I tried to pinpoint where her voice was coming from, and suddenly I could feel my body being pulled up towards the roof of the warehouse. As the roof seemed to head towards me a flashing portal of purple energy opened up, beyond it I could see Victoria and the High Lord's office.

The portal came closer and closer until I fell through it.
