He Had To Bloody Spread His Wings...

I had been joking when I suggested that we stick a bag over Eddie's head, tie him up and then talk to Daryll. Honest. Of course, it was the only bloody plan that any of us had managed to come up with so either way, it's what we were going with.

The plan was for Victoria to cast a blinding spell on Eddie as he walked through the door, then I would grab him and shove him into the kitchen while Michael and Victoria grabbed Daryll so we could talk to him.

Yeah, maybe it wasn't the best plan we'd ever come up with, but as we all took our positions to wait for Eddie and Daryll to arrive we were committed to it.

"I have to say, Alec, I'm feeling rather exposed here." Michael whispered as he stood just behind the front door waiting "There's no room for me to spread my wings if I need to."

"Can you please stop talking about spreading your wings!" I hissed back at him from my position by the open kitchen door "I'm trying to listen out for them!"

"Both of you shut the fuck up!" Victoria cut in "I think I can hear something coming..."

As the hallway went silent I closed my eyes and listened. Victoria was right. I heard the rumble of an engine before it stopped, then doors opening and shutting, and finally two sets of footsteps heading our way. It was them.

"Get ready." I said to Victoria "Any minute now..."

We saw the flashes of torchlights through the gaps around the doorframe, and I heard Eddie's voice clear as day.

"Shine it on the bloody floor, you idiot!" He snapped "I can't see where I'm treading."

After a minute the front door creaked open and Victoria was caught in the full glare of the torches.

"Ah, you're already here," Eddie said.

Victoria didn't answer him she just raised her hand and calmly shouted out the spell.

"Osh Macom!"

Eddie dropped to his torch, which rolled on the floor as he put his hands over his eyes in obvious pain.

"My eyes!" He screamed, "I can't see!"

I made eye contact with Daryll who just stood on the doorstep like a rabbit caught in headlights, his eyes wide in surprise.

"Grab him!" I yelled as I ran forward to pull Eddie into the house.

Daryll turned to run, but he wasn't quick enough for Michael. The front door which was hiding him from view burst into pieces and all Daryll could do was watch in horror as Michael ran through the now empty doorframe and spread his wings. In seconds Michael flew over to Daryll and lifted him up off the ground by his collar.

Damn it! He just had to bloody spread his wings, didn't he!

We were just lucky that it was dark out, or the neighbours might have seen him and we'd be in massive shit with the Council when we got back to Moonstone. I'd had more than enough experience dealing with their system of punishment. I did not want to go through all that again, at least not without Kian to back me up.

Kian.

I couldn't help but bloody worry about him as I watched Michael fly Daryll back to the front door. Victoria took his arm and led him up the hallway to the bedroom while I tried to grab hold of Eddie's legs.

"Don't fucking touch me!" Eddie yelled, "I'll kill every last fucking one of you bastards!"

Crap! The guy kicked like a fucking donkey!

"Stop bloody moving!"

Michael put his wings away and stepped through the threshold.

"Allow me." He said.

"What? What are you doing?" Eddie asked, "I'll sue all of your asses off!"

Michael bent down next to Eddie and gently placed two fingers on his forehead and the fake psychic finally went quiet.

Thank fuck for that.

"What did you do to him?" I asked as I dragged Eddie's now limp frame into the kitchen.

"I just made him sleep." Michael replied as we bolted the door shut behind us "He'll be out for a while."

"Right, let's get this over with." I said, "We came all this way for a psychic to help us, hopefully, Daryll can."

"I'm sure he will, Alec." Michael said, "And we'll find Kian Richards."

Oh, I fucking hoped he was right about that last part... I didn't want to consider the alternative.

As we entered the bedroom where Victoria was watching Daryll, she turned to look at us concerned.

"Something isn't right here." She said "Daryll hasn't spoken a word. He's just scared, really scared, but I don't think it's because of us."

I looked at Daryll, his eyes were glazed over and he was shaking curled up on the floor in the corner of the room. He wasn't paying attention to us at all. Weird.

"Daryll?" I asked kneeling down next to him "Can you hear me?"

At the sound of my voice he looked straight at me and grabbed my arm "Things are coming, war and blood. Lots of blood." his tongue darted out to wet his lips as he spoke "The wolf knows who the true Master is. The evil one."

"The evil wolf? Do you mean Jonathan?" I asked confused.

Daryll just nodded "And you will find what you're looking for, but, beware not all is as it seems. Friends are enemies and enemies are friends!"

Then he just laughed. It wasn't a normal laugh, it was maniacal. It was like he was out of control, and then he was suddenly engulfed in deep red and orange flames. I fell back and got as far away from him as I could.

Fuck.

Victoria and Michael ran forward, but it was far too late. The flames had died down, but Daryll was gone and there was no trace left apart from a slight burn mark on the floorboards where he had been sitting.

"What the fuck just happened?" I asked, getting to my feet again "Where did he go?"

"I think I know what happened." Michael replied as he looked at the burn mark "And if I am right then it answers the question of where Mr Curtis is now."

"So, what do you think it was?"

"I think that was Hell Fire." Michael replied "And Hell is where I believe Mr Daryll Curtis has been taken. I may be mistaken, it's been centuries since I have witnessed anything like this, but..."

Hell Fire? What the fuck was going on here?

"But, your pretty sure that was Hell Fire," Victoria said.

'I am." Michael confirmed.

"And I know where we have to go next." I said, dreading what I was about to suggest "We have to go back to Moonstone. We need to see Jonathan Cayhill and find out who really set me up to be bitten."

"Alec, I know that you want to find Kian, we all do, but, I don't think that talking with Jonathan will get us any closer to finding him," Victoria said.

"You heard Daryll. We all did. The wolf knows who the true Master is, what else could he mean? I go to Jonathan and I'll find what I'm looking for. That's what he said."

"Alec, he could have been talking about anything!" Victoria said "He was off his fucking mind on Diaton. I could smell it all over him. I'm sorry to have to be the voice of reason here, but, you need to see sense."

"No." I retorted "What I need is to find Kian and get back to a normal bloody life, or as much of one as someone like me can have."

After a moment of tense silence, Victoria relented, seeing that I wasn't going to change my mind.

"Okay, fine." She said "If you're sure that you want to do this, then we will, but we do it properly. Safely. We don't go taking unnecessary risks."

"Sure." I agreed.

"I could fly us all back to Moonstone." Michael offered "Stretch my wings."

This Angel and his bloody wings...

"What are we going to do about Eddie?" I asked "We can't just leave him locked up in that kitchen."

"I have an idea of what we can do with him." Victoria said with a smile "Go ahead, I'll meet you boys outside."
