Gabby's POV

Beep beep beep bee-
I groaned and shut my alarm off. Rolling out of bed, I slowly walked into the bathroom. As the water turned on, I heard my father calling my name.
"Good morning, father." I yelled down the stairs.
"Good morning." he yelled back.
I changed out of my night clothes and got into the shower.
I dried myself off and slipped into my school uniform. I put my long brown hair in a ponytail and grabbed my bag. I ran down the stairs realizing that I was late. I hugged my father and walked out the door. I walked down the street seeing some students walk toward the school.
"Did you here about the new student?" one girl said.
"No!" another exclaimed.
"I heard he really cute." the third girl said dreamly.
"I hope so." one said giggling. They laughed and kept walking.
I shook my head and walked into the school. I never understood girls and guys. Trying to walk through the hallway, I was shoved, tripped, and laughed at. My mother's words rang through my head. 'Be strong, Gabby. No matter what.' She said those words before she died right in front of me.
I felt something at my ankle and the next thing I knew I was falling to the floor. I closed my eyes and tried to embrace the fall. When I opened my eyes, I realized I wasn't on the floor. A set of strong arms had embraced me. The hallway was dead silent. I was set back on my feet and two hands where set on my shoulders.
"Oi! Pick on someone your own size." he said. Everyone looked at him in shock.
He moved me along through the hallway and out into the courtyard. He sat me down on the bench under the cherry tree.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
I nodded. He lifted my chin to look into my eyes. His bright blue eyes met my grey eyes. His expression was soft and calm. He moved the strands of hair out of my face. I turned my head away and got up. I started to walk away when he grabbed my wrist. I flinched.
"Wait," he said. I looked at him but then looked down.
"Name's Andy," he said letting go. I nodded and started to walk away again.
"What's your name?" he called. I front answer I just continued to walk. "Hey Shorty!"
