Chapter 3: Unfolding Destinies

Notice to Readers

Dear Readers,

I want to thank you for giving my story a chance, but I have an important message to share. After much reflection, I’ve realized that this story is far from what I hoped it would be. As a new and inexperienced writer, I made many mistakes in this book.

To grow and improve, I’ve decided to start fresh with a new book that reflects the lessons I’ve learned and the research I’ve done to create a better experience for you. I invite you to check out my latest work:

New Book: THE FALLEN HERO

This new story is the beginning of a journey where I aim to craft a world and characters that you can truly connect with. I’m excited for you to explore it and share your thoughts.

Thank you for your understanding and support as I continue to grow as a writer.

Warm regards,
[ @DJ_SIDDIQUI ]

The secret training continued over the years. Though diligent, the growth in Argus's magical abilities remained limited. Two years had passed, and now, at eight years old, he could only produce a small flame at the tip of his fingers. He had developed a control over elements like fire, electricity, and water, but only in minuscule amounts. Strangely, he also discovered an affinity for a rare element: darkness. It puzzled him. Why could he cast a dark element spell human can't use dark elements. Even so Argus increases his mana core capacity he Steel only able to use a small amount of magic despite his relentless efforts.

Argus had strengthened his mana core considerably, far beyond what was typical for children his age. His body was already tough, and his stamina surpassed that of his peers. Yet, in terms of actual spellcasting, his friends could easily outshine him-casting fireballs like his father, Kaelen, while he could barely light a candle.

However, he honed another skill, a silent one-his ability to sense magical energy around him sharpened. He could feel the presence of magical creatures lurking nearby and even sense the magical signatures of other children in the village. But none of them seemed to notice the faint magical energy that constantly emanated from him. Not even Kaelen.

At eight, Argus had grown into a handsome boy and was well-known in the village. His well-mannered nature endeared him to many, and some girls even seemed to develop early crushes on him. One day, while wandering in the forest, he stumbled upon a magical beast-a wolf-like creature, but it was injured. The creature, small and resembling a pup, drew forth his sympathy.

Approaching cautiously, he noticed the beast struggle, snarling weakly. Unable to turn away, he decided to take it home and nurse it back to health. However, the creature, even in its weakened state, attempted to attack him. Argus deftly dodged each slow strike, and soon, the wolf-beast collapsed from exhaustion. Without hesitation, he scooped the creature into his arms and carried it home.

His parents were shocked when they saw what he had brought. "A rare beast!" Kaelen exclaimed. They initially intended to send it away, fearing the danger it could pose, but Argus insisted on keeping and caring for it. After some debate, they relented, and from that day forward, the beast became part of their family.

Around that time, Kaelen decided that Argus was ready for some real combat training. Despite Argus's desire to master magic, his father saw promising potential in him as a body enforcer. Under Kaelen's guidance, Argus's physical training progressed rapidly. Though his spellcasting was still weak, his body grew stronger each day, and his senses sharpened further.

Argus vowed to learn more about his magic. when the time was right.

By the age of nine, Argus was exploring the deeper parts of the forest with his father and the rare beast by his side. His bond with the creature had grown strong, and it now followed him everywhere. Together, they learned how to hunt, navigate the woods, and survive.

But something else gnawed at Argus's mind. The entity that had reincarnated him-the figure that had chosen him for reasons he still didn't fully understand-was silent. No dreams, no visions, no signs. It was frustrating. He wondered if he would ever hear from the entity again or if he was truly left to navigate this world on his own.

Just two months before his 10th birthday, when the ceremony would determine whether he would become a magic caster or a body enforcer, strange visitors began arriving in the village.

They weren't just merchants or travelers. There was something unsettling about them-something he couldn't quite place. While the villagers didn't seem to notice or be bothered by their presence, Argus felt uneasy.

He observed them closely whenever they passed through the village square. Though their actions seemed innocent enough-buying supplies and chatting with locals-he couldn't shake the feeling that they were searching for something-or someone.

He didn't mention anything to his parents but kept a watchful eye on these mysterious strangers, always maintaining his distance. He noticed that They all bore a similar tattoo on their hands wrist: a glowing sun intertwined with the figure of a dragon. the strangers had settling into the village.

One evening, Argus overheard a private conversation between his parents. Kaelen had returned from the hunt, and , Elysia was tending to his wounds.

"These wounds, they're spreading again," Elysia whispered anxiously.

"I know," Kaelen replied grimly. "But we can't risk using too much magic. It'll only speed up the process. The war... it's coming back to haunt me. in ways I cannot escape."

Argus, hiding nearby, listened with growing concern. Which war, I was only able to find out one war and it's a great war between demon king and other empires that happened 500 years ago.

his father's deteriorating condition, and the strangers in the village-something larger was brewing, something beyond his understanding.

Despite the tension surrounding him, Argus never revealed his secret. He could cast spells-small ones, like lighting a fire or summoning a bit of electricity-but he kept that hidden even from his parents, not wanting to draw attention to his abilities. Perhaps, in time, he could figure out why his magic was so limited.

For now, he had bigger worries-about the ceremony, about Kaelen's past, and about the strangers who had come to his village.

As the days passed, Argus awaited the ceremony that would decide his fate, with an increasing sense of unease.
