"MARINETTE!!!!"

As her lifeless body plummeted to the ground.

Spotty Bane looked at her, shocked. Who in their right mind would do that.

" Damn it, Plagg. Move. Move! MOVE!" Chat yelled as he stood up, then jumped and caught Marinette.

Chat looked at her lifeless face, tears threatening to fall.

" Plagg, claws in." And with a green flash, Plagg flew out of the ring, with a worried face.

" Tikki, where are you??? Tikki. TIKKI!!!!" He yelled, but nobody replied.

While he was looking around, he heard a whisper:

" Serpentina, dissolve." And in a puff of black smoke,  Serpentina dissolved. Chloe collapsed on the ground, and out of a ring, just like Plagg did before, emerged Spotty Bane.

" Hm, I missed. However, that brat's wish came true, so we still didn't completely lose ." Spotty murmured.

Both Spotty Bane and Plagg turned to the corner of the garden, when they heard heavy breathing. Plagg was faster, so he was the first to get there, with Spotty not far behind.

" ... T-tikki?" Plagg cautiously came closer. He could barely recognize her.

" W-what happened to you? Where are your spots? Why are you white? Tikki, please answer me."

But before he could come closer, something took Tikki, and started flying away.

" SPOTTY BANE! GIVE HER BACK!" Plagg yelled as he flyed after him.

" BACK OFF ALREADY!" Spotty Bane yelled back, and with a swift move of his tail he sent Plagg flying into the ground.

It didn't take long for Plagg to be back up in the air, but Spotty was already high above.

" SPOTTY BANE!" Plagg yelled as he was about to soar up into the sky, when he heard sobbing:

" Marinette... no..." Adrien hugged her, tears falling from his eyes.

" Kid, hang in there." Plagg whispered. He turned around to chase after Spotty, but he was already gone.

" No! Where did he go?!" Plagg wanted to leave and search for him immediatley. But, they were far away.

" I can't catch up to them now." Plagg sat on the ground, with his ears down.

" Tikki... Please be safe."

" Marinette... Wake up, please..." Plagg heard Adrien's cries and hurried to him.

Adrien was holding Marinette close to his chest, slowly rocking her, like she was a baby.

" Look, Plagg. Her skin is white, just like Snowhite's." He stroked her hair, and removed a few strands from her face.

" She is so beautiful, Plagg. I can't stop looking at her. She is the light in my life. Always has been. Even before I knew she was Ladybug." He smiled with a broken smile.

And then, he started talking to her:

" Hey, Mari? Remember when we talked abouts kids? I came up with some names. We would probably have three, Emma, Louis, and Hugo. Emma would be a splitting image of you, but with my eyes. She would like to dance and smile. Louis would be the cheeky one, always causing trouble, and then blaming his siblings for it." Then he stopped.

" And Hugo... Hugo would be just like you. Shy, but very kind and smart. He would follow in your footsteps, Mari. He would become as bubbly as you are, and would create masterpieces, just like you did. He would be our pride and joy, together with Emma and Louis."

Adrien started crying, hard. He couldn't contain himself anymore. Plagg didn't know what to do. His holder, no... His friend just lost the love of his life, forever.

Plagg cautiously landed on Mari's chest, and started cuddling with her, all the while being close to her heart.

" But what good is that now? Now that I don't have you, I lost everything. My past, my future, my purpose. What do I do now, Mari?" He put his forehead on hers, like they used to do. His tears were falling on her cold pale face, and he did his best to wipe them off.

" Maybe there is a way to save you, is there, Plagg?" He looked at Plagg, with hope in his eyes.

Plagg looked at him sadly, and looked down.

" Adrien... I wish there was, but Marinette rejected her kwami at first, which lowered her chances to zero. I'm sorry kid."

Adrien lost the light in his eyes, and looked back at Marinette. He leaned down and kissed her tenderly. When he separated to breathe, he carried her to a nearby bench, and sat down with her. He cradled her, like she was a delicate flower. Plagg followed, but this time he floated in front of them.

Adrien spoke in a very quiet tone:

" You know, I remembered a perfect lullaby for our babies. It is from a cartoon I watched, long ago."

He took a few deep breaths, and he blinked  ad much as he could, to keep the tears away. Then, he started singing:

"Leaves from the vine,
falling so slow,
like fragile, tiny shells
drifting in the foam.

Little, soldier boy,
comes marching home.
Brave, soldier boy,
comes marching home."

(the song is from the series Avatar: the last airbender. The song is called Leaves from the vine, and its really sad.)

And he continued to cry, for the rest of the night.

tommorrow

The bakery was closed for the day. Black curtains replaced the usual curtains. In the Dupain-Cheng household, everything was silent. The only light source was a few candles, littered around the place. If you look better, you can see a few figures, dressed in black, all around a table, where Marinette lied. She was dressed in a black dress of her own design. Her hair was in her usual twin pig-tails, and she had light make-up on.

If you looked at the people around her, you would see Sabine, crying, and Tom trying to hold back tears.

Across them, sat Alya and Nino. Alya was crying on Nino's shoulders, while Nino had a look od disbelief.

But, Adrien was in the worst state of them all. He sat on the head of the table, looking into the void with empty and broken eyes.

Some time passed, before Sabine whispered to Tom:

" Say something, Tom."
" Yeah, I will."

Tom stood up, and everyone except Adrien turned their attention towards him.

" Dear friends, dear family. We have gathered here today, to say goodbye. To say goodbye to one of the greatest people alive. To say goodbye to a loyal friend, a soulmate, a beautiful daughter, a pure heart. She changed our lives from the moment we met her, right up to this very moment. She made us closer than ever before, she inspired us to be better people, and to live everyday in happiness, not in misery. She accepted this sinful world, and from the day she was born, she tried to make it better, not for herself, but for us. So, I thank you, Marinette Dupain- Cheng, from the bottom of my heart, for making this world a better place. Thank you, my little princess. P-please, w-wait for us u-up there!" And Tom, couldn't stop his tears from falling anymore.

" My petite fairy, watch after us, ok?" Sabine whispered to her daughter, and kissed her on the forehead.

Alya and Nino were still unable to speak, so Adrien spoke up:

" You know Mari, today was the day we were supposed to have that special lunch you wanted so much. And I was supposed to propose to you today. Then, we could continue our adventures together. But what do I do now, my Queen? I can't bare to love someone else, and I know you want us to be happy. But how can I be happy in a world without you?" He held her hand and pecked her lips, one last time.

A honking of a car interrupted them, signaling that its time for the funeral.

Everybody went downstairs so they could get everything ready. Adrien looked at Mari one last time, before heading towards  the exit.

But, time stopped for him as he heard one, single, word.

"... Adrien..."
