{Two Month Later}

Look after Max for me I just wanna make sure he's okay. Her words from two months ago played in my head. I had down exactly what she wanted, I had tried to be closer to him. And if I have to be honest, I don't think I'm doing it just for her anymore. Sure the first few weeks after she left was hard, but he got over it pretty fast. And from when I've talked to her, she seems to be doing better. For the first month I think that she was not completely over it, but after another month she was pretty good.

Last night I talked to her and she told me about the new boy she liked.
"And I meet this boy" she started "he's really nice and we've been talking a lot. I helped him when he transferred here."

I laughed "That's really good. I'm glad you found someone new"

She shuffled around on her bed "Yeah me too. You know I kinda new me and Max wouldn't work. I mean we started to have more problems that I think lead up to what happened"

"Do you know why you stated to have problems?" I asked.

"No, but they started around the time you came. Now before you think that I'm blaming you let me explain. First I'm not blaming you. I don't blame you. But I think that Max likes you"

I laughed. "That is so far from the truth. Max hated me the moment I stepped foot into his life."

"Not anymore. He's fine with you now right?" She argued

"Well that's different. Yes we are fine now, but it took him a slap to the face to see that." I admitted.

" What?" She asked laughing " No don't answer, that's a story for another time. I really do think he likes you. He likes that you don't really take no for an answer. He likes that you're different than me"

"Oh Krista" I started. Truthfully I had no idea how to respond to that. I mean what do you say? "You are a fine person. Much better than me, less of a backstory. But I really don't think he likes me"
That would be too good to be true. I mean I like him, I know that. But I it'd be wrong to date him wouldn't it?

"But you like him right?" She asked.

"No." I answered plainly.

"You answered fast" she laughed back.

I laughed too "You know the one thing I hate about how people decide if you're lying? That if you answer right away you're lying because you're too fast. You take a few seconds to say the answer and you're seen as hesitating. I was doomed from the start"

She thought for a bit "Okay fair. But I still think you do. And please don't worry about me, okay? If you like him I want you guys to be together. It'd make you and him happy, that's all I want"

"Hey y/n" Ross said.

I shook my head, clearing my thoughts. I looked around, I was in my chair next to Cory "Hi Ross. Do you need something?"

"Yeah Penny called. She wants to talk to you." He explained holding out his phone.

I smiled. I haven't talked to my best friend in forever. "Thank you thank you" I said jumping up and grabbing his phone.

I could hear him laughing as I made my way to a quiet place. "Penno!" I almost yelled into the phone.

"N/n! Oh it's so good to see you again! I miss you so much" she exclaimed with equal excitement.

"Why didn't you just call on my phone?" I asked.

"Well, funny story, I lost it to a bird" she started.

"What? Penny how on Earth did you lose your phone to a bird?" I asked laughing.

"Well" she started already laughing "Like I said it's a funny story. So I was at the dog park right? And I was on my phone"

"Wait" I said interrupting her "you don't even have a dog, why were you at the dog park?"

"Well it's the only place that I'm sure to see cute dogos duh! Anyway back to my story. So a goose stated chasing me and, of course, I decided to run. I hate geese and you know that. But I as I was making my getaway, tripped on a bush, I swear to you they're out to get me. And so I dropped my phone right  in the water. And then some dumb stupid face goose decided phones make a good snack, and grabbed it with its beak and kicked its way to the middle of the pond. Now at this point I already knew it was lost to me forever, but this stupid bird took it a step further by dropping it right where he was sitting in the water. I watched it sink, y/n I witnessed the death and murder of my phone. It was traumatic"

I was laughing so hard that I started hyperventilating "Penny Penny st stop"

I could hear that she was trying to hold back a laugh "Don't laugh at my young lady! I have never laughed at you when this kind of a traumatic apocalypse falls on you"

I laughed even hard. Oh it was so hard to breath "Okay okay" I said trying to get my breath back.

After about one more minute at laughing at my friend unfortunately bad luck I started back up again " Oaky first I am older than you and you know that. Second I think you are being a tad dramatic"

She gasped "I am never dramatic. Where did you hear such big words? Is Ross destroying your beautiful mind with these big words?"

"Oh please, you already did that" I teased.

"Oh yeah. I did didn't I?" She said faking surprise.

"So I'm guessing you didn't call only to tell me about your unfortunate life" I said.

"That is rude. And no I did not. I have a surprise for you" she said.

"You're coming out!" I asked hopefully.

She laughed "I hate you you know that? You have always been so good at guessing things. This was meant to be a surprise!"

I laughed with her "Well I apologize Penno for being amazing. When are you coming?"

"Tomorrow"

"But that's so soon"

"You missed me too much" she teased.

"Well that is true" I agreed.

"Great I- hold on" she said. I could hear muffled voices, she must be at work.

"Hey I gotta go. But I'll see you tomorrow" she said.

"Great I'll text you my number and you can text me your flight info" I said already looking through Ross's phone to find my contact.

"Okay I'll see you later" she said.

"Bye" I said hanging up the phone.

I jumped up and down. My best friend is coming to town, I haven't seen her in forever!

"You good?" Someone asked from behind me.

I jumped again, just of surprise. "Geez Adam not cool! And yeah I'm fine. Never better!"

"What was all this?" He asked jumping up and down mimicking me.

"That was excitingness duh!" I answered.

"And what was all that excitingness about?" He asked.

"My best friend from New York is coming down. I haven't seen her in ages" I answered getting excited all over again.

"Oh I see. Well I can't wait to meet her" he added.

I smiled "Of course! I'll drag her in here by her hair if I need to."

He laughed "Sounds like a plan."

"You bet" I answered walking past him. He held his hand up in goodbye.

"Hey Rossetti" I said leaning on the doorframe to his office.

He sighed "That was a women and you know that. Rossetti was her last name. You say that to annoy me once we learned about her in school."

"You're not incorrectly stating a statement" I answered.

He looked at me like he was trying to decide something "Did you push someone off a cliff?"

I just stared at him, laughing a little. "Why on Earth would you ask that?"

"You're happy and that was a guess as to why you were happy" he answered.

"You're an idiot. I'm happy because Penny's coming to town." I said.

"Oh okay that makes sense. Now I'm about to record a video so if you don't mind" he said turning back to his computer.

"Oh course" I said setting his phone down on the table.

"Thanks scumface" he said without looking.

"Of course butthead."
