Friend Or Backstabber?
Ava just smiled as she sat down at her desk and started sketching while listening to the old music box. She still had no clue where it came from but it was making her happy just listening to it and filling her with a sense of nostalgia from her childhood.
Plus Ava was bored. She had just finished up on all the work she needed to complete for the day and the kids were still out together. She wasn't worried though because she was tracking them which was at least comforting enough for her.
She was going to go and meet up with them, but she figured they should have some bonding time together and she could use the small break. She loves looking after her siblings, but it can be so tiring sometimes.
Ava's quiet sketching was interrupted though when she heard the knock on the door and Caitlin's voice making her quickly cover up what she was doing as she didn't want Caitlin to see any of it in case it was actually from her dad.
Once she was sure she had everything covered she called out for Caitlin to come in. "Hey," Caitlin quietly told Ava as she knew what she was about to tell her was going to make her go off, but she needed to get this off her chest.
Ava just smiled a little as she looked at her new friend. "Hey," Ava called back, causing Caitlin to sigh as she couldn't believe she was really about to do this.
"I'm sorry to barge in like this, do you have a minute? I know you're probably busy with your siblings, but I just really need to talk to you about something," Caitlin nervously told Ava, making her nod.
"No, they're out right now. My sister Evie managed to get Mal off the pacifier so her and Carlos took Mal to get something as a reward. All we need now is to get her off that stupid bottle. Ugh I've tried everything! I've tried taking it cold turkey, I tried letting her pick out her own sippy cup, I've even tried the reward thing but nothing works! Sorry for that random mom type ranting it's just frustrating I've been trying so hard to get her off of it but she just won't," Ava told Caitlin as she started ranting making Caitlin smile a little.
"No it's okay I get it," Caitlin told Ava before getting nervous again as she remembered why she was there. "Okay good anyway what's up," Ava told Caitlin who just took a deep breath as she looked at her.
"Okay I um I lied to you earlier about Mason, but I think you already know that," Caitlin nervously told Ava who just nodded as she didn't get where this conversation was heading.
"Yeah I figured so anyway if that's all according to this they're going to be home soon and I really don't want them hearing about any of this," Ava quietly told Caitlin as she wasn't really in the mood to be talking about this stuff and was just wanting to get back to her peace and quiet that she rarely got anymore.
"Oh um there's actually more. I can't believe I'm actually about to say this, but I'm the rat," Caitlin told Ava, making her freeze as she tried to process what Caitlin was saying.
"You're what!" Ava asked, getting upset making Caitlin look down feeling guilty. "I'm the rat. I'm so sorry Ava. I should go," Caitlin told Ava again, making Ava lose it as she looked at her friend who had just betrayed her.
She let her guard down and trusted in Caitlin and Caitlin had been the back stabber who almost ruined her life.
"NO! Sit down! You're going to explain everything to me right now!" Ava told Caitlin as she was feeling frustrated and betrayed.
"Okay when you and Nolan started I knew about it. I looked it up and there it was everything about your family and your parents taking the money. And about the two children they gave up. There were no names or pictures, don't worry. Anyway nobody here put it together because you were using your middle name at the time and you didn't have the kids with you either. I just told one person and it spread like wildfire. And then everything with the press and the media and now Mason knows. Ava I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. Ava please say something," Caitlin told her friend as she was feeling horrible and she knew she hurt Ava, making Ava completely lose it as Caitlin just didn't get it. This wasn't just about her.
"My parents left me alone to live with their mistakes. I was 18 years old stuck with the responsibility of what to do with two children after they decided I was their best option. One in which was a breastfed newborn who had no food to eat. Do you know how hard that was on me? Having to make a huge life changing decision at 18 all because of my parents and their mistakes. And not only that but I had to carry the burden of their shame everyday publicly. I came back from the store after just getting formula and lunch and my house was surrounded. I couldn't even get into my own house because they wouldn't move. Heck they even tried to take pictures of my brother who was only 12 at the time and had nothing to do with what our parents did. He was just a scared child who just lost his parents and people tried to take advantage of that. I had to give up my siblings just to protect them and give them as much of a normal life as possible. And then I got into BHU and that was my chance to start over and be with my siblings again because they would be able to live their life and not be completely bombarded by paparazzi. And you stole that from me! I had to completely cut ties with them to protect them because if I couldn't handle it they sure as hell couldn't either! And I got shamed over and over again. Do you know what shame feels like and do you know what it feels like to feel like you're failing your siblings just because you're trying to keep them safe. You not only stole my life from me, but you stole two children from their guardian. I missed two years of their lives. Mal's first time crawling, her first words, her first steps, her first holidays. Everything important I missed and I couldn't protect them from the pain they suffered in Auradon because I didn't know and could't because of you and what you did. I thought you were my friend, but now I know who you really are. Now get out," Ava told Caitlin as she couldn't hold back anymore.
She trusted Caitlin and she was the one who had stolen everything from her and is the reason she missed two years of her siblings' lives. She couldn't believe she had ever given Caitlin a chance. "Ava I'm so..." Caitlin began as she was feeling horrible and so guilty right now but Ava just shook her head as she didn't want to hear it. She didn't even want to look at the backstabber right now.
"GET OUT!" Ava screamed out as she had tried to keep her cool and not start yelling at her, but she couldn't stand to even look at Caitlin right now and just wanted her out of her room. Caitlin just slowly got up as she left. Once Caitlin was gone Ava just sat down on her bed as she broke down sobbing.
"Hey Ava we're back!" Carlos called out as he opened the door as the three kids had just gotten back from the store. Ava just quickly wiped her tears as she put on a fake smile not wanting to worry the kids.
"Oh hey how'd it go," Ava asked as she picked up the toddler who ran towards her. "It went okay, but I'm so sorry Ava. She really wanted the pacifier back. We tried so hard to stop her, but she just started crying and people were looking at us," Evie told Ava who just looked at the toddler who was hiding a pacifier in her pocket and giving her an innocent smile, making Ava laugh as she couldn't stay mad at the toddler.
"No, it's fine. I knew it was too good to be true. And something you need to learn is she is a sneaky and adorable little manipulator," Ava told Evie as she tickled the toddler making her giggle. "Okay good I'm sorry I really tried," Evie told Ava again who just smiled as she looked at her little sister.
"No again it's fine. I'm older and I still can't even do it. Anyway you three up for some fun because I need to get out of this place for a little bit," Ava told the three kids as she was too stressed out about the Dana Booker, Caitlin, and Mason thing and just needed a distraction for a little bit.
"Yeah!" All three kids called out excitedly, making Ava laugh as she packed up the diaper bag and stroller. "Alright come on," Ava told her siblings as she opened the door and made her way to her car.
"Where are we going though," Carlos asked, making Ava shrug as she placed Mal into her car seat and buckled her up. "I don't know. How does bowling sound?" Ava told the two who just laughed and nodded as they got into the car.
