Wedding
John's POV:
Raise a glass to freedom... Why couldn't it be free to be gay. Now I'm here. I hold back my tears as Alex approachs me. Why Alexander... Was I not good enough? He stops in front of me. I wanted to slap and kiss him at the same time.
"Alexander?" I said softly. I never use his full name so he immediately knew I was upset.
"Yes, Laurens?" He said using my last name to seem serious.
"Can I tell you something?"
"Always."
"Why Eliza?" I said turning to stop facing him.
"W-what?"
"Why her, why not Angelica or something?"
"I'm in love with Eliza, John. You know that. What is this really about?"
"When we met I immediately knew there was something about you, something that no one else had. I know what it was now, you were the first person to make me weak. Make me go head over heals. I love you Alexander."
He was silent. I got scared. He grabbed my hand and I blushed.
"A-Alex?"
"John, I'm sorry, I wish you would tell me this stuff. I'm sorry I can't return your affections, but you will always be my friend."
Friend. That one word hurt more then when I was shot in the arm. I wanted to die. What was I thinking?
"I know, it was foolish to tell you. You just got married after all."
"John, I'm glad you told me, I needed to know that."
I can only assume to make me feel better, he kissed my hand and walked away. I fainted. I heard Alex and the others yelling my name, but I couldn't respond. I'm broken.
