Lucy's (POV)

"Lucy?" The Dragon slayer called.

"Hmmm?"

"How do you know, when you love someone?" Natsu asked.

I was taken aback by his sudden question. "Uh... What makes you think I know?" I spat.

"You seemed like you would know." He shrugged. "So..."

"Natsu... Love is..." I struggled to find the perfect words.

"Love is the feeling of... If you love someone you can never let them go. You feel the need to have them by your side always. You want nothing but the best for them. And you want them to be safe... At least that's what I've seen." I added.

"Is that so?" Natsu spoke with the tone of confusion.

"I give up. Your hopeless."

"Hey! I understand what you said." Natsu pouted.

"Then why do you sound so confused?" I asked.

"I was just thinking." He replied.

"That's odd." I joked.

"Luce, your so mean!" Natsu whined.

"Suck it up... Or find yourself a new friend." I commented.

"Wow Luce, never thought that a girl like you would stoop so low. And to think that I was considering the possibilities..." Natsu rambled.

"Huh?"

"Oh nothing. Since we are only friends, right?" Natsu teased.

'Just what was he going on about?'

''Lucy? Hey! Lucy!" Gray's voice snapped me out of my daydream.

"Yes."

"Answer the question. We're you and Natsu going to get married?" Gray asked once more.

I dropped my head and let the tears fall. "Yes... If I stayed we were going to get married but... But I left and now... Now we can never... I'm such an idiot!" I screamed.

Erza rubbed my shoulders and sighed. "I think that's enough. Lucy, you look like you need some rest. You can stay at my place for the time being."

"Thanks Erza but I've made plans. Don't worry about me." I stood up and exited the guild.

I ran to the one place that I thought of this whole time... Natsu's place.

When I got there I heard crying and a familiar voice.

"They lie. I know your still alive dad. Right?" Nalu sobbed.

"Please dad... Happy wake up. We were saposed to find mom." Nalu spoke.

I opened the door and saw Nalu sitting in front of a giant lacrima. Inside that lacrima was Natsu and Happy.

I fell to my knees and sobbed. Nalu turned to look at me.

"Ms. Lucy... What are you doing here?" He asked.

I couldn't answer all my attention was on Natsu and Happy.

"You idiots! Wake up. Wake up or I'll... I'll..." I couldn't help but sob.

"Hey... Lucy."

"WAKE UP YOU STUPID HEADS!!!" I screamed.

I stood up and ran for the lacrima. I punch the lacrima only to do no damage.

"Hey, lady stop are you crazy!" Nalu pulled at my skirt but I ignored.

I continued to punch and kick the lacrima but still, nothing happened.

My legs gave out and I cried once more.

"You knew my dad, and Happy?" Nalu asked.

"Yeah, they're the reason I came to Fairytail." I answered.

"Did you work with him?" He asked.

"Yeah, all the time. I was his partner." I started to tear up.

"So... You are his friend?" Nalu asked.

I couldn't answer... The tears wouldn't let me.

"Sorry for asking so many questions... It's just I never really knew my dad all too much. I knew him for almost a year before... This happened." Nalu spoke sadly.

"It's okay... I'll tell you... Anything you want to know." I said finally able to speak.

"How long have you known him?"

"Since I was seventeen."

"That's a long time."

"Calling me old shorty." I commented.

"No... Well, how old are you?" Nalu asked.

"Twenty two."

"Just a year younger than my dad." Nalu stated.

"Yeah."

"You said your here because of them.."

"Yeah, I ran into Natsu and Happy... They brought me to Fairytail."

"What happened to you? Everyone thought you died." Nalu asked.

"I left to get stronger for my friends and for my family."

"Where's your family?" Nalu asked.

"Over there." I replied pointing the the lacrima holding Natsu and Happy.

"My dad and Happy?" Nalu was puzzled.

"Yeah... Your dad asked me to marry him but..." I started to cry once more.

"Your my mom?" Nalu asked.

"I..."

"Did you and my dad get married?"

"No..."

"Did you say yes?"

"No..."

"So you didn't love my dad?"

"That's not..."

"Then how come you didn't say yes." Nalu asked slightly irritated.

"I didn't get the chance to..." I answered.

"What do you mean?" Nalu wanted to know.

I took a deep breathe. "Listen, I loved your father more than anything. At the time all I wanted was to be stronger... For him. When he asked me to marry him... I was scared. I wasn't strong enough to marry him so... I left." I answered.

"You know... I don't blame you. I probably would have done the same." Nalu sat beside me on the floor.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah, but my dad... He would have married you no matter what. Weak or strong he would've married you because he loved you." Nalu smiled.

"You know I don't doubt that. You sure your Natsu's kid... Your pretty smart." I asked.

"I'm a demon. I inherited my brain from Zeref." Nalu giggled.

I chuckled along with him finally calming down.

"Hey Lucy?"

"What's up?"

"Is it okay if I call you mom?" Nalu asked.

"Of course." I answered.

"Thank you." Nalu swiftly hugged me and I hugged back. "Mom, I'm hungry."

"You know... You remind me so much of Natsu." I stood up and headed to the kitchen.

To my surprise it looked like the food was all still fresh.

'Must be because of Nalu.'

"Hey, dad. You should wake up soon. Mom's back. We both miss you and Happy. So... You should come back to us." I heard Nalu talk to the lacrima.

"Wouldn't want mom to marry someone else right." Nalu teased.

I couldn't help but giggle at his statement.

'He so reminds me of Natsu.'

Just as I started to cut up some vegetables I heard a scream. I dropped my knife and ran to where I heard it come from.

I saw Nalu backing away he ran into me and held on for dear life. I look to what he was running from and saw the lacrima cracking.

"I didn't mean to!" Nalu cried.

I watched the Lacrima shatter and light filled the room blinding me. When the lights died down I could hardly see.

I blinked a few times and then I saw it clearly. Standing before was Natsu and Happy sitting on his shoulder.

I rubbed my eyes to see if was I saw was real.

"Luce?"

Now I know. 'This is real.'
