Alistair's Pov
She took a further step, without considering my presence like it was completely irrelevant. She didn't even look me in my eyes. She ignored me as she walked past by. I gathered all my courage and held her through her wrist. She was pulled back through my force, as she was weak in strength as compared to me. I wanted her to face me, to talk to me, to rant at me.
I let go of her hand when she faced me. She was yet reluctant towards looking me in the eye. I slowly rested my palms on her shoulders and tried to calm everything down, precisely trying to cover my blunt behavior. "Evely----"
"I just need some time alone Arnold. I'm not mad at you. Okay?" she drew herself away from me. I watched her back as she walked. Within a while, she disappeared into the crowd. I just hoped that she was accompanied by Sandra.
I turned around and walked towards the drinks counter, where I spotted Amanda. I knew that the woman on behalf of whom the party was thrown was Amanda. I just had no idea that she was Amanda Waters. "Oh, my Lord, Al", she pulled me closer into a hug. I hugged her back. It was really nice to meet her, and find out that she was the one for my best friend. It was just hard to believe because she and Aaron were two sides of a coin. Amanda was well known for her clumsy behavior in the summer camp, which we attended some years back. Everything she tried doing, would end up into a totally different thing, in a devastating way, of course.
"So you're the birthday girl, on whom my friend is head over heels", I exaggerated the word 'the'.
"And you're his friend too. Such a coincidence, by the way, that woman was with you?"
"Yeah, oh my, God, I totally forgot about her", I turned back on remembering about Evelyn. I knew that she was mad at me, though she said that she wasn't, "Oh no, I got to find her. I messed it", I started moving away.
"She's a keeper, don't forget", she shouted from behind. I mouthed a, 'I know' and went in the same direction as Evelyn. I tried locating her face in the crowd but I couldn't find her.
My behavior was extremely odd. I should've had control over my emotions when I spotted my father with her mom earlier, but it felt wrong. Everything felt wrong. Somewhere I knew that my father wasn't a saint, but I also didn't expect him to do something so shameful. He may/ may not be trading girls with Humpty Dumpty. I had to find out everything. All types of questions, positive as well as negative, kept popping in my head, leading to a headache.
On spotting Aaron, in the crowd, I rushed towards him. Maybe, he could be a connecting link to the truth. "Aaron, we need to talk", I curled my right hand around his neck and separated him from the people he was talking with. "I'll be right back", he nodded his head towards the people he was previously corresponding with, as he spaced himself out from the group.
"What's wrong?" he questioned puzzled.
"Did you invite my father too?"
"Yeah, I did. He was in the city for a business meeting, so he came to pay me a visit a while back. So, I invited him to the party too. Is that a problem?" he arched his brows as he questioned me back.
"No, not at all, absolutely not", I surrendered my hands in the air, and fake smiled. I was getting quite impatient, but I wanted answers.
I rubbed my forehead, and questioned him further "Did you invite the woman he came along with, too?"
He smirked, as he buttoned his coat. "I didn't invite the woman. Seems like father and son are very alike", I could sense the sarcasm in his tone. He clearly compared me with my father, as I brought Evelyn along with me, without an invitation. No, his sarcasm wasn't something to be offended of. He breathed it, and everyone was used to it. After having a conversation with Aaron, I was pretty sure about one thing, he didn't invite Evelyn's mother and he also had no idea about her. "One last question, can I?" I continued.
"I'm all yours", he surrendered his hands in the air.
"Was she present with my father in the meeting too?"
"She wasn't", he instinctively answered. I thanked him for being genuine enough to answer my questions. I turned my direction away from him, but then turned towards him again.
"Did you see him around, anytime soon?" I interrogated. No, I wasn't any detective but I definitely felt like one.
"He left a while back, along with the woman you were talking about. Did he know that you were here as well?" he questioned back. Damn, this man never answered straightforwardly. He had a question followed by an answer every time I asked him something.
It was my turn to answer, so I answered truthfully "No. He doesn't, and I decide to keep it that way"
He smiled and replied "You have my word then. I'll see you around, enjoy your time", he patted my back softly and rejoined the group of men he was previously talking with. I started looking for Evelyn in the crowd again. I took a glance at the dance floor and found Sandra and Chace dancing intimately with each other. Okay, they didn't have a thing, but maybe my lie made them a real thing. At least my lies were beneficial to someone.
Evelyn was definitely alone as Sandra and Chace were busy engrossed in themselves. I took a glimpse of every corner of the huge hall but failed miserably at my attempt to find her. Did she leave without me? No, it shouldn't happen. She was unaware of this place as it was completely new territory for her. Maybe, she didn't even have the cash to get access to a vehicle that could lead her back to our city. I multiplied my speed of walking and exited the place.
With fingers crossed, I looked for her around the huge garden which surrounded the mansion. A swimming pool was right next to the garden. I took a view of the area, but to my discontent, I didn't find her. I wasn't disappointed by her absence, I was scared, scared of losing her when I didn't even have her.
I strode towards the exit's gate and left the mansion without actually taking possession of my car. I walked through the road whilst looking in every possible direction, and took slower steps than usual, so as to locate her. I discovered a wooden bench, at the rightmost corner of the street. I watched her back, her black hair, and her blazer which was neatly folded on the bench. I slowly marched in her direction. I didn't intend to alert her, so I took soft steps.
When I was extremely close to the bench, I spotted a vacant bottle of whiskey on the bench. She had her hands on another bottle, which was reaching towards its end too. "Evelyn. Oh no", I sprinted close to that bench and yanked away from the bottle from her hands.
"Give that to me Arnold or I'll turn you into Donald", she rhymed as she tried pulling the glass bottle away from me. I had a firm grip over it, so she really had to try very hard.
"Trump...?" I questioned shrugging.
"Duck", she answered, and grinned whilst she attempted to grab the bottle from my hands again. She succeeded this moment, so she distanced herself away from me. I tried shifting closer to her, but she kept me apart as she straightened her legs and locked me from them through my thighs. Her legs overlapped my thighs, and she applied pressure over them when she gulped the whole bottle in one single sip.
One thing was pretty sure, she was drunk. And, maybe, she was losing control over herself because of it. Maybe it was just the consequence of my odd behavior. I was just extremely happy that I found her, safe and sound, though not sane. "Oh no, no, no", I looked at the bottle, grabbed it, turned it upside down, and realized that there wasn't even one drop left.
"How long have you been drinking. I mean can you handle alcohol?" I interrogated. She didn't react to my statement but kept smiling like she was carefree. Even if I compared the total events ever since I met her, this was the first time when she was smiling so carelessly, uncontrollably. I liked her this way. She looked ethereal when her lips lifted and stretched till her ears. Her smile was enchanting. It blew off my mind, and my capacity to think.
She, within a while, uplifted herself from the seat. I stiffened my back and rested it against the bench. When I sensed a light on the road from afar, I stood up from my place at once and drew her closer to me, by taking support of her upper arm. She was reluctant, stubborn, and headstrong, towards my movement of mine. She went back to that spot she was standing earlier and stood straight whilst folding one leg like she was practicing some balancing exercises.
I tried pulling her again, but she kicked me on my upper thigh. I'm glad that her kick didn't land on my precious part, as it could devastate my dream of becoming a father to 11 children. 11 was my lucky number, so I always wanted to have 11 kids. "Easy. Please", I surrendered my hands in the air. She sighed and moved her head in the other direction. Her balance shivered, and she fell on the road.
"Oh, my God", I rushed so as to approach her and ensure myself her well-doing. Her palms took the support of the rock road, as she attempted to stand up again. Half of her hair was on her face, which obstructed my view of her alluring face. I kneeled down and helped her raise herself from that position. When we successfully managed to get up, I pushed the unwanted strands of her hair from her face behind her ears. Her smile was unstoppable. She even had it on when she fell due to misbalance.
When I heard a horn, I lifted her up in my arms and walked to the bench again. Her stomach rested on my shoulder, and she kept kicking me on my chest through her legs and punching me on my back. I had to distance her from there, as it was unsafe for her to do one-legged exercise, practice yoga, in the middle of the road.
"Land me down. This instinct", she punched me harder this time, I gasped and landed her on the bench again. She pouted and pulled me closer to her. I can't really mention how cute she actually looked with that pouting face.
"Let's walk to my car", I knew she was out of her senses, but I yet directed her to walk with me.
She turned her head from left to right and from right to left again. Her hair flipped as she did the movements. "No, I'm not going to walk with you. I'll only join if you help me fly", she stood on the bench and extended her arms. I caught her from her knees, as I was scared that she may fall. "I can feel the air. Come join me"
"You can feel more of the air when I'll carry you on my back. You ready?" she nodded, so I turned around. She at once curled her legs around my stomach and her hands around my neck. I could feel her, her body, her skin, everything. It was creating sensations in my body, which was getting hard to control. She slowly moved her right hand through my jawline.
I smiled but didn't interrupt my walking speed. She wasn't heavy. I could preferably use her rather than my dumbbells. "Walk faster", she ordered.
"On your service ma'am", I paced up my speed and took longer strides. She laughed and sang random songs of which I had no clue of, as I walked. I felt happy, happy from within. It felt like every emotion in my body was electrified with her touch. I smiled as she tickled me softly on my neck. "Out of all the men I have no clue about. You're my favorite" she kissed me on the back of my head, on my hair.
No matter how much I wanted to stop that moment, lay her down, and kiss her, I couldn't, She wasn't in her senses and I didn't want to take advantage of her plus I promised her that I won't touch her sexually unless and until she asks for it. I was going to stick to my words, though it was hard to.
