Chapter 2
I wanted to go back to sleep as soon as I caught whiff of consciousness. My throat and chest scratched with each breath I took and my legs were in absolute utter agony. Extremely uncomfortable, I whined painfully and felt something gripping my hand.
"Eridan?" I heard. Easily, I recognized it as my Dad's voice and soft muttering in the background.
"It's too early for this." I replied in my newly found disgustingly strained voice. Solemn soft laughter filled the room and I cracked my eyes open a little. A low light shadowed over a blue speckled tile. "How did I survive?"
Silence wafted through the room as I opened my eyes enough to see the frowning face of my father.
"Eridan, you're so lucky you survived," He breathed, "But, your life is going to change, okay?"
"What?" My eyes widened and I was frozen in place. It was like he was telling me that my puppy died, or that he got girlfriend and now she was moving in with us. He better not have.
"ED." Sollux came into view and he grasped my hand tightly, his eyes shiny, reflecting my battered up face. Despite the mood, I smiled, awkwardly grabbing it back with my wire ridden hand.
"Hello, Sol." He kissed my bruised nose and I tried not to flinch at the slight pressure.
"Why did I let you leave?" My boyfriend asked with a tear finally sliding down his face.
"I doesn't matter noww." I answer as calmly as I can. He looked like he wanted to say more on the matter, but was cut of by Dad's sudden interjection.
"Eridan, I'm not going to edge around what's going around," He said and a dark feeling develops in my gut, "Your legs were hurt more than anything else. The severe trauma makes you an amputee."
I stare at him in shock.
"It's very rare that someone would need both their legs amputated-" He swallowed harshly, "-But you're an exception." Dad starts shaking and he practically stomps out of the room.
"Oh my god." I breathe. Sollux leans in and presses our foreheads together, "Oh my god."
"We-" His voice cracks as he attempts to soothe me, "We will make it. Together. Alright, Eridan? We're making it together."
I felt his tears slide onto my face, with mine. My legs won't move again. I won't even have legs ever again. Will I walk?
"I won't ever walk again, Sol." My voice barely makes a sound. He breathed a jagged breath, "How did this happen?" Sollux kisses my forehead and wraps his arms around me. I rest my forehead on his shoulder and try to breathe steadily.
"I'll love you, ED. No matter what." A sob escapes my lips and I heat shuffling as what I assume the unannounced company decided to take leave for our privacy.
"Thank you, Sol." I choke out, "Thank you."

I wrote this a while ago, so I'll probably rewrite it someday, who knows?
